Support your liberties by defeating H.R. 707

From Campaign For Liberty:

You might think after ramming the USA “FREEDOM” Act, a phony “reform” bill reauthorizing the so-called “Patriot” Act through the House, that House Leadership would take a break from violating the Constitution and infringing on our liberty…

But then, you would be wrong!

Campaign for Liberty staff is aware of a major behind-the-scenes push by House Leadership to quietly ram through another statist scheme, the “Restoration of America’s Wire Act,” H.R. 707.

This bill received a Subcommittee hearing just one month after it was introduced with few cosponsors, so we need to take this threat very seriously.

C4L staff learned from several sources that House Leadership ordered the Subcommittee to hold the hearing and stack the witness panel in favor of the bill.

For reasons that will become apparent when you read the description of this bill below, the House Leadership does not want the spotlight shone on their effort to pass this bill.

As the saying goes, sunlight is the best disinfectant...

So if they know that pro-liberty Americans like you are watching them, they may stop their behind-the-scenes arm-twisting and deal-making.

H.R. 707 tramples on the Tenth Amendment in order to give the government new powers to spy on your Internet usage. And it does this largely for the benefit of one powerful political donor.

So please sign your petition to House Leaders John Boehner, Kevin McCarthy, and Steve Scalise, telling them to publicly oppose H.R. 707.

By passing H.R. 707, Congress would be gambling with your liberties.

H.R. 707 gives the federal government new powers to spy on and control more of the Internet in order to stop individuals from gambling online instead of going to brick and mortar casinos.

It really ought to be known as the iGaming Ban, as its real intent is to outright prohibit certain types of Internet gambling a single billionaire casino mogul is not invested in.

H.R. 707 tramples on the Tenth Amendment by usurping the states’ power to legalize Internet gambling.

Currently, three states allow Internet gambling, and numerous other states are considering it.

If the statists pass the iGaming Ban, it will not just nationalize the issue of Internet gambling, it will set a precedent for federal nullification of other state laws protecting our liberties from Congress and the federal bureaucracy.

By making it a federal crime to gamble online, H.R. 707 will also expand the surveillance state’s reach over the Internet.

Of course, H.R. 707 supporters claim you have nothing to worry about if you don’t gamble.

But how else are they going to completely enforce the prohibition on iGaming unless they spy on everyone’s Internet activities?

Consider everything we have learned in recent years about the extent of government surveillance.

How can any American who values their privacy believe politicians and bureaucrats who say they can be trusted with new powers to “police” the Internet?

And how can we trust the promises of the House Judiciary Committee that H.R. 707 will not lead to even more mass online surveillance when they just tried to fool us into thinking the USA “FREEDOM” Act reined in the NSA?

So even if you do not gamble, keep in mind, this bill threatens your liberties too.

As previously mentioned, this legislation is not just an assault on our liberties, it is an example of crony capitalism at its worst.

Supporters of this bill say they want to stop people from gambling.

But what they are actually doing is stopping one type of gambling to benefit a billionaire casino mogul who does not want to compete with online casinos.

If the supporters of H.R. 707 are so concerned about gambling, why are they so eager to help someone who made his fortune in traditional casino gambling?

House Leadership is anxious to rush this bill into law in order to make this casino mogul, and political donor, happy...

And the only thing that can make them change their minds if they hear loud and clear from you!

So again, please sign your petition to House Leaders John Boehner, Kevin McCarthy, and Steve Scalise, telling them to public oppose H.R. 707.

If the statists pass the iGaming Ban, it will send a signal to the surveillance state supporters and crony capitalists that it is open season on your liberties.

Make sure Congress knows to stop gambling with your liberties.

In Liberty,

Norm Singleton
Senior Vice President
