A "clean up" requiring a spending increase of nearly $100 billion and a suspension of the debt limit represents everything wrong with Washington, D.C.
While Paul Ryan has publically claimed he had nothing to do with this deal, at least one member of Congress has suggested Ryan was in cahoots with leadership!
If you and I don't turn up the heat on your representative and senators right now, I'm afraid the Obama-Ryan-Boehner regime will get the last laugh.

Trust and Verify

That's what Ronald Reagan said about negotiating with the Soviets and that's how the House Freedom Caucus negotiated with Paul Ryan.
It has been a busy couple of weeks. Patriots like you have worked overtime to fire John Boehner and prevent Kevin McCarthy, Boehner's right-hand-man, from rising to Speaker of the House.
This would not have happened without your vigilance. From January to September, our community took more than 200,000 actions to oust Boehner and over 11,000 in only 48 hours to keep McCarthy out of the job. It is a remarkable achievement and stands as a testament to the power that can be wielded by those of us who are armed only with our commitment to the principles we hold dear and our resolve to protect the America that we know and love.
It shouldn't be surprising that I've spent an incredible amount of time on the phone and in meetings trying to convince multiple conservative members to toss their hat in the ring and run to be Speaker. But, as you know, Paul Ryan emerged as a candidate. And after a meeting with the House Freedom Caucus, it looks as though he will be the next person to hold the gavel.
Without question, there is frustration emanating from conservatives across the country.
But ultimately this fight was about process, not about personalities.
The main goals of the House Freedom Caucus were:
•A return to regular order by allowing an open amendment process, passing appropriations bills, and ending Republican leadership's tendency to govern by crisis through constant Continuing Resolutions and debt ceiling debates that only serve to strengthen Obama's hand.
•To stop punishing conservative members by stalling their bills, stripping them from committees, and running outside campaigns to defeat them.
•To finally stand up to Obama, who, because of Republican leadership's inability to show any real courage, is fast becoming the most powerful lame duck president in history.
And they trust that Ryan will be a step towards these goals, but they haven't given up their tools to verify and remove Ryan if he turns out to be a clone of Boehner.
Just a few years ago, I could count the number of allies in the House on one hand. Today, we have over 40.
Our challenge is to support this group of freedom fighters and expand their ranks. It is not only a worthwhile cause but also an absolute necessity. They need reinforcements if we want to see more victories that humble the Washington establishment.
Only then will we truly be able to set the agenda.

Airwaves will resound with politicians and talking heads, expounding on what ails our country.

Boehner has nothing to lose

In just 22 days, John Boehner will step down as Speaker of the House.
Since Speaker Boehner took the gavel from Nancy Pelosi in 2011, his position has been one of capitulation before the fights even began.
At Campaign for Liberty, we're glad to see Speaker Boehner go, but we don't have the highest of hopes for his replacement to be much better.
That is, not without Americans like you demanding it.
With Rep. Kevin McCarthy's unexpected announcement this morning that he would not run for Speaker, the race is now wide open to replace Boehner.
But this doesn't mean Boehner is a harmless lame duck; in fact, he's made it clear he wants to make his last month as Speaker "eventful."
And at the top of his list could be renewal of the crony-capitalist Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank).
Ex-Im Bank is a little-known, New Deal-era federal agency that either loans money directly, or "guarantees" loans, to American businesses to support those business's overseas ventures.
If the company cannot pay back the loans, then you, the American taxpayer, pays back the loan.
Loans made, or guaranteed, by Ex-Im Bank are inherently risky and market-distorting, since its charter forbids it from "competing with the private sector."
Instead, it uses taxpayer funds to "...assume credit and country risks that the private sector is unable or unwilling to accept..."
That's right; Ex-Im Bank uses YOUR money to support projects that no private investor would spend a dime on.
Worse yet, most of its funds go to large corporations...
For example, in 2014, 70 percent of the loans guaranteed by Ex-Im Bank's largest program went to the (not-so-small) business of Caterpillar!
Ex-Im Bank has also made loans worth $1.5 billion to Russia!
To put it simply, Ex-Im Bank's loans are an example of corporate welfare at its worst.
The good news for taxpayers like you?
Ex-Im Bank's charter expired at the end of June, and (despite frantic efforts by the crony capitalists who benefit from it) its charter has not been renewed.
Now for the bad news...
Last month, Democrat leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (MD-5) let it slip that Boehner was an "ally" on efforts to renew the now-expired Ex-Im Bank charter.
And here's where it gets ugly...
Renewal of Ex-Im Bank was attached to a big-spending transportation bill that passed the Senate in July.

In just 22 days, John Boehner will step down as Speaker of the House.
Since Speaker Boehner took the gavel from Nancy Pelosi in 2011, his position has been one of capitulation before the fights even began.
At Campaign for Liberty, we're glad to see Speaker Boehner go, but we don't have the highest of hopes for his replacement to be much better.

With Rep. Kevin McCarthy's unexpected announcement this morning that he would not run for Speaker, the race is now wide open to replace Boehner.
But this doesn't mean Boehner is a harmless lame duck; in fact, he's made it clear he wants to make his last month as Speaker "eventful."
And at the top of his list could be renewal of the crony-capitalist Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank).
Ex-Im Bank is a little-known, New Deal-era federal agency that either loans money directly, or "guarantees" loans, to American businesses to support those business's overseas ventures.
If the company cannot pay back the loans, then you, the American taxpayer, pays back the loan.
Loans made, or guaranteed, by Ex-Im Bank are inherently risky and market-distorting, since its charter forbids it from "competing with the private sector."
Instead, it uses taxpayer funds to "...assume credit and country risks that the private sector is unable or unwilling to accept..."
That's right; Ex-Im Bank uses YOUR money to support projects that no private investor would spend a dime on.
Worse yet, most of its funds go to large corporations...
For example, in 2014, 70 percent of the loans guaranteed by Ex-Im Bank's largest program went to the (not-so-small) business of Caterpillar!
Ex-Im Bank has also made loans worth $1.5 billion to Russia!
To put it simply, Ex-Im Bank's loans are an example of corporate welfare at its worst.
The good news for taxpayers like you?
Ex-Im Bank's charter expired at the end of June, and (despite frantic efforts by the crony capitalists who benefit from it) its charter has not been renewed.
Now for the bad news...
Last month, Democrat leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (MD-5) let it slip that Boehner was an "ally" on efforts to renew the now-expired Ex-Im Bank charter.
And here's where it gets ugly...
Renewal of Ex-Im Bank was attached to a big-spending transportation bill that passed the Senate in July.

Support the First Amendment Defense Act

News just broke today that Kim Davis will be released from jail.
You see, while many enjoyed the final days of summer this past Labor Day weekend, Public Advocate staff and volunteers traveled to Kentucky and organized rallies for Kim Davis and Religious Liberty.
Armed with signs, petitions, and water for Kim Davis' supporters, Public Advocate took to the street in front of the detention center.
But the judge ordered, "Davis shall not interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage license to all legally eligible couples."
This is not the end of this story. The judge threatened Davis with "appropriate sanctions" if she disobeys this order.
While her freedom is certainly worth celebrating, the precedent has now been set.
Who will be the next targeted victim of the anti-Christian Left?
Who will be the "Kim Davis" sentenced to jail for the crime of being a Christian?

Tell the Speaker and the House Majority Leader to support Audit the Fed

I’ve received some exciting news from Campaign for Liberty President John Tate.
For the third Congress in a row, a majority of the House of Representatives has cosponsored our Audit the Fed bill (H.R. 24)!
It is very rare for any legislation to obtain a majority of representatives as cosponsors in one Congress, so it is remarkable to get majority support for three in a row!
This is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of Campaign for Liberty members like you.
Last week, Campaign for Liberty Vice President of Policy Norman Singleton and Director of Legislation Tim Shoemaker met with the lead sponsor of H.R. 24, Representative Paul Broun, to discuss Audit the Fed.
Then, Campaign for Liberty asked our members to contact those representatives who had not yet cosponsored Audit the Fed and urge them to do so.
And 14 representatives have cosponsored Audit the Fed this week alone!
Now that the bill has majority support in the House, it is time for Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor to schedule a roll call vote on H.R. 24!
So please call Speaker Boehner at (202) 225-0600 and Majority Leader Cantor at (202) 225-4000.
Tell them to side with the nearly 75% of the American people — and the majority of the House — who support Audit the Fed by scheduling a vote on Audit the Fed before the Fourth of July recess!

Tell the IRS not to bully conservative groups

On Monday, I wrote to inform you about the latest assault on conservative free speech by Obama's IRS agents and their allies.
Now it's time for action.
It is absolutely critical that you and I inspire as many pro-Family conservatives to speak out before the Federal Register's public comment period ends on February 27th.
So I'm kicking off Public Advocate's petition campaign to tell Obama's IRS that we won't let them silence our values.
I'll give you a link to the petition in a minute, but first I'd like to tell you a little bit more about why this is such a crucial battle with real consequences if we fall short.
If Public Advocate supporters like you sit this fight out on the sidelines, I'm afraid Obama and his IRS operatives will succeed in enforcing IRS Regulation IR-2013-92.
This dangerous new bureaucratic overreach is the latest effort by Obama's IRS designed to squelch conservative groups like your Public Advocate.
IR-2013-92 would prevent Public Advocate -- by using withering financial punishment -- from reaching you and the rest of our pro-Family activists with:
Communications that are made within 60 days of a general election (or within 30 days of a primary election) and clearly identify a candidate or political party" -- even if the communication had nothing to do with an election, or even if it said nothing about electing any candidate to public office.
Preparation or distribution of a voter guide -- even if completely objective, with no preferences for or against any candidates.
Conduct of a voter registration drive -- even if completely objective, with no preference for or against any candidate.
Your Public Advocate -- along with countless other conservative 501(c)(4) groups -- has been a thorn in the side of politicians and bureaucrats.
And that's why they want to shut you and I up with withering financial punishment.
They don't like being held accountable for abandoning the values they were elected to defend.
When Public Advocate shows up on Capitol Hill and in state capitals across the country, you can believe the officials don't want to face the political heat we bring.
Obama knows this better than most.
And that's why he's working with his plants in the IRS to shut us down and shut us up.
Because when you and I demand our elected officials stand up for traditional marriage and pro-Family values, Obama and his allies in the radical Homosexual Lobby face an uphill battle enforcing their agenda.
The more pro-Family voices that flood the Federal Register during the public comment period, the better chance we have of nipping this threat in the bud and avoiding yet another long and costly court battle.
Public Advocate and other conservative 501(c)(4) groups have been vital in standing up for pro-Family values and defending traditional marriage.
Thanks to Public Advocate members like you, we've been able to hold off the Gay Bill of Special Rights from passing the House of Representatives.
This dangerous crown jewel of the Homosexual Agenda would codify special class employment status for homosexuals at the expense of First Amendment Religious Liberties.
President Obama and the radical Homosexual Lobby badly want this bill to pass.
In key battleground states like Utah, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, Public Advocate is engaged in targeted grassroots programs, fighting to preserve traditional marriage laws.
And unfortunately, weak-sister Republicans like Speaker of the House John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor would rather give Obama his way than lift a finger to defend our values.
That's why you and I can't relent one second in our fight against the Homosexual Agenda.
