Don't let the Federal government bailout insurance companies

From Freedom Works:

Health insurance companies are running from ObamaCare as fast as they can. And the more that do, only hastens ObamaCare’s eminent demise. But the Democrats are trying to keep them on board long enough to transform ObamaCare into a European-styled single payer system. That’s why they’re fighting tooth and nail to keep bribing these insurance companies with taxpayer funded bailouts. Don’t let them get away with it. Contact these Senate Republicans right now. Tell them to end the ObamaCare bailouts today.
Marco Rubio’s already introduced S. 123, a bill to stop these bailouts permanently. But liberal hacks like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are preventing it from receiving a vote. And until it’s passed, these insurance companies will continue to receive more of your money. Don’t let that happen. Contact these Senate Republicans right now. Tell them to stop the ObamaCare bailouts today.

DNC conspiracy against Bernie Sanders

The notorious hacker collective WikiLeaks dumped a massive trove of e-mails from the Democratic National Committee onto the Web Friday just as Hillary Clinton was preparing to celebrate her presidential nomination at the Democratic convention next week.

In the thousands of internal e-mails, it was revealed that a Democratic Party official tried to use Bernie Sanders’ supposed religious beliefs to derail his presidential campaign; one staffer pitched an idea for a phony sexist Trump ad and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz tried to score a staggering seven tickets to the Broadway smash “Hamilton.”

BURNING BERNIE

The suggestion of going after Sanders based on religion was included in one of 19,252 e-mails.

In one message dated May 5, 2016, with the subject line “No s–t,” the chief financial officer of the Democratic National Committee, Brad Marshall, plotted how to portray Sanders, who was raised Jewish in Brooklyn, as an atheist.

“It might [make] no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief,” Marshall wrote, apparently referring to Sanders and upcoming Kentucky and West Virginia primaries.
“My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.”

- DNC official Brad Marshall

“Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage,’’ Marshall asked.

“I think I read he is an atheist.”

“This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and atheist.”

The chief executive officer at the DNC, Amy Dacey, responded with a single word: “Amen.”

Marshall told The Intercept that he didn’t recall the sleazy e-mail.

But then he claimed it wasn’t an attempted hit job on Sanders.

“I can say it would not have been Sanders. It would probably be about a surrogate,” Marshall told the Web site.

He did not explain why the DNC would try to slime a Sanders surrogate.

NB-SEETHING

The DNC was supposed to be neutral in the primary between Clinton and the Vermont senator.

But the e-mails confirm the party establishment was in the tank for Clinton long before the primaries were decided.

And top DNC officials were not happy when they were called out for taking sides.

Wasserman Schultz sent an e-mail to NBC anchor Chuck Todd complaining about MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski, who was calling for her to resign for taking sides in an intra-party battle.

Sanders won the soul of the Democratic Party

The subject line read: “Chuck, this must stop!”

In another e-mail, dated May 21, 2016, DNC press secretary Mark Paustenbach wrote to communications director Luis Miranda suggesting they plant a story that the Sanders campaign was in chaos.

“Specifically, [Wasserman Schultz] had to call Bernie directly in order to get the campaign to do things because they’d either ignored or forgotten something critical,” Paustenbach wrote.

“It’s not a DNC conspiracy, it’s because they never had their act together,” he wrote.

PLOT AGAINST TRUMP

In one oddball e-mail chain, a DNC deputy communications director plotted to create a fake Craigslist ad that portrayed Donald Trump as sex crazed.

Christina Freundlich — who took a smiling selfie at the scene of a tragic East Village gas explosion in March 2015 — pitched the idea for a fake employment ad for “hot” women who want to work for a Trump organization.

“Seeking staff members for multiple positions in a large, New York-based corporation known for its real estate investments, fake universities, steaks, and wine,” the copy read.

The job title was listed as “Honey Bunch (that’s what the boss will call you)” and the list of job requirements were as follows:

“No gaining weight on the job;” “Must be open to public humiliation;” and “A willingness to evaluate other women’s hotness for the boss’ satisfaction is a plus.”

The ad also noted that the boss may “greet you with a kiss on the lips or grope you under the meeting table.”

Freundlich sent the fake ad up the flagpole and got an OK from Miranda that read: “As long as all the offensive s–t is verbatim I’m fine with it.” It’s not clear if the ad ever ran.

AIN’T LIFE GRANDE

In an e-mail from Sept. 10, 2015, titled “Performer for POTUS” DNC finance director Zach Allen asks if pop star Ariana Grande can be vetted for a White House performance.

After she was probed, the answer came back, “Nope, sorry,’’ because she was once caught on video “licking other peoples’ donuts while saying she hates America.”

The e-mail said Grande’s donutgate “brought on two long YouTube apologies, but [the incident] won’t lead to criminal charges.”

ON SECOND THOUGHT

In one e-mail chain from May 12, Democrats considered allowing the lawyer representing a pedophile to host a fund-raiser with President Obama — but ultimately decided against it.

Lawyer Roy Black, who has represented Bill Clinton pal Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile, raised red flags when he underwent a thorough investigation before being given the honor of hosting Obama.

But he didn’t pass.

The White House’s Bobby Schmuck made the final call: “[N]o hosting, fine to attend.”

‘HAM’ IT UP

Wasserman Schultz asked DNC finance director Allen Zachary if he could snag seven tickets to “Hamilton,” the sold-out Broadway show, so she could celebrate a 50th birthday party with her college roommates.

“I’ve never seen an order of 7 fulfilled, I have seen as many as 4. Would you guys be willing to split up 4 and 3?” he responded May 24.

She said she would.

But it’s not clear from the exchange if Zachary came through.

Bernie Sanders wants to remove marijuana from the Controlled Substance Act

Arlington, VA: Vermont Senator and Democrat Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says that it is time to get the federal government out of the marijuana enforcement business by removing the substance from the US Controlled Substances Act.

The Senator introduced legislation this week, Senate Bill 2237: The Ending Federal Prohibition of Marijuana Act of 2015, to decshedule cannabis from the federal anti-drug law.

Speaking last week at George Mason University in Virginia, Senator Sanders called cannabis' present schedule I status under federal law "absurd." He added: "In my view, the time is long overdue for us to remove the federal prohibition on marijuana. ... [S]tates should have the right to regulate marijuana the same way that state and local laws now govern the sale of alcohol and tobacco."

The Senator also said that state-compliant marijuana operations "should be fully able to use the banking system without fear of federal prosecution."

The Senator's actions differ from those of Democrat opponent and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley who promised to use the executive powers of the President to "to move marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule II of the Controlled Substances Act." Republican candidate Rand Paul (R-KY) has also co-sponsored federal legislation, SB 683, that seeks to reclassify cannabis to Schedule II under federal law. However, simply rescheduling marijuana from I to II would not limit the federal government's authority to prosecute marijuana offenders, including those who are in compliance with state law. While several other Presidential candidates have called on federal officials to respect states' marijuana policies, none have proposed amending federal marijuana laws. This just might put Bernie Sanders over the top. Marijuana legalization is a big topic right now,it is certainly controversial and that is a good thing. Controversy is a good thing just like Congressional gridlock is. A lot of people are brainwashed into believing that Congressional gridlock is a bad thing but it's not. Hillary has come out as anti-marijuana just as Chris Christie has on the GOP side of the aisle and they are both tanking in the ratings. You can look at possibly doctored polls but your best bet would be to count the crowds that turn out at Hillary and Sanders rallies. Sanders draws a larger crowd. The thing is that this race on the Democratic side is a lot like an old fashion marriage: the man has to work for everything while the woman has it handed to her on a silver platter.

Fun with Bernie Sanders

If you don't use the drive thru you'll be asking:

Bernie Sanders will change America. Have you always wanted to be a government employee? If you said yes then vote for Bernie Sanders. He can transform this country even further than Obama because Sanders is a good comrade. He will collectivize all the businesses under government control. That means if you work at McDonald's,Burger King or other currently private businesses under Bernie you will be working at State Fast Food Restaurant #118 or something like that or maybe the People's Democratic Fast Food Restaurant #118.

Ban private prisons

From CREDO:

Sen. Bernie Sanders just introduced a bill to end one of the biggest contributors to America’s broken criminal justice system: private, corporate-run, for-profit prisons.1

Today, the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world, and poor people and people of color suffer the most at the hands of our out-of-control incarceration industry.2 That’s partly because the corporations that operate for-profit prisons are primarily concerned with their bottom lines. To maximize profits, those corporations advocate for increased incarcerations and unreasonably strict parole and release laws. And they win.

Corporations should not be able to profit from mass incarceration. The Justice Is Not For Sale Act, introduced by Sen. Sanders and Rep. Raul Grijalva, bars federal, state, and local governments from contracting with private prisons. We need to come out in strong support of this bill.

Tell Congress: Ban private for-profit prisons.

Out of the 1.6 million people incarcerated in 2013, over 8 percent of them were in private prisons. Reports show that inmates in these facilities suffer worse conditions, including more assaults and higher recidivism.3, 4 For-profit prisons are also incentivized to advocate for laws that reduce basic rights, benefits, and entitlements inmates receive while in prison.

And when for-profit prison corporations lobby for harsh laws that lead to more incarcerations, incarceration rates rise throughout the entire U.S. correctional system, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill for maintaining the highest incarceration rate in the world.

In addition to banning private prisons, the Justice Is Not For Sale Act would enact a number of other measures to address mass incarceration. One would eliminate the mandatory bed quotas that require U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hold an average of 34,000 individuals in detention on a daily basis. Another would restore the federal parole system. The abolition of the federal parole system was a major factor in the explosion of the federal prison population since 1980, and makes it impossible for federal prisoners to access parole boards that can look individually at their sentences.

Sign the petition now and tell Congress to get behind a bill that provides real solutions to America’s mass incarceration crisis.

Join Senators Warren,Brown and Sanders in pressuring Obama to post the full TPP text online for the public to see

From CREDO:

Our campaign to pressure President Obama's administration to immediately make all secret trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) has gotten a massive boost.

President Obama recently lashed out at activists and our elected representatives who have called for transparency around secret negotiations, calling us “dishonest.”

In response Senators Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown have added their voices to Senator Bernie Sanders’ call for the Obama administration to immediately release the full text of the TPP.

Tell the Obama administration to practice transparency when it comes to TPP by posting it online for the general public

From Credo:

Our campaign to pressure President Obama's administration to immediately make all secret trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) just got a massive boost.

President Obama is lashing out at activists and our elected representatives who have called for transparency around secret negotiations, calling us “dishonest.”

In response Senators Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown added their voices to Senator Bernie Sanders’ call for the Obama administration to immediately release the full text of the TPP. In a letter to the president, Senators Warren and Brown wrote:

The American people should be allowed to weigh in on the facts of the TPP before Members of Congress are asked to voluntarily reduce our ability to amend, shape, or block any trade deal. The press and the public should be allowed to examine the details that corporate executives and lobbyists have already been allowed to influence for years. Members of Congress should be able to discuss the agreement with our constituents and to participate in a robust public debate instead of being muzzled by classification rules. Before Congress votes to facilitate the adoption of the TPP, the American public should be allowed to see for themselves whether it's good deal for them.1

Stand with Senators Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown and Bernie Sanders: Add your name and tell President Obama to immediately release the full text of the TPP before Congress votes on Fast Track. Click here to sign the petition.

Senators Warren and Brown sent the letter in response to the president's recent attacks on progressive activists fighting to stop Congress from rubber-stamping a Fast Track bill for the biggest trade deal in our history. President Obama has even gone so far as to compare our objections to the deal being negotiated with corporations and foreign governments to Sarah Palin’s invocating of “death panels” during the health care debate.

The Warren-Brown letter specifically points out that President Obama's "trade transparency record is worse than that of former President George W. Bush," noting that even Bush "published the full negotiation texts of a major free trade deal with Latin America several months before Congress had to vote on giving the deal fast track benefits."2

This letter gives our ongoing campaign to rally around Senator Bernie Sanders’ call for transparency on all pending trade deals a huge lift. We need to do our part by pushing even harder for transparency now.

Add your name and tell President Obama to immediately release the full text of the TPP before Congress votes on Fast Track. Click here to sign the petition.

It would be outrageous for the Obama administration to allow the Republican leadership and their corporate allies within the Democratic party to ram through Fast Track Trade Promotion Authority without allowing all members of Congress, their staff, and the American public to read what is in trade agreements such as the TPP. And as Senators Warren and Brown point out, it would be worse than George W. Bush!

In fact, the reason why the corporate lobby is pushing hard for Fast Track is that they know the TPP could not get through Congress without this extraordinary power grab.

This secret "trade" deal would eviscerate broad swaths of regulations that protect consumers, workers, the environment and the soundness of our financial system. And it would set up a legal regime where corporate profits trump the policy priorities of sovereign governments.

It’s ironic that the president claims critics of the TPP "don’t know what they’re talking about" when it’s his administration that is refusing to release the text of his secret trade agreement to the public – only providing extremely limited access to members of Congress. The Obama administration should immediately release the TPP text to the public, and Congress, so we can have a spirited and informed public debate on the largest trade deal in our history.

Stand with Senators Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown, and Bernie Sanders: Add your name and tell President Obama to immediately release the full text of the TPP before Congress votes on Fast Track. Click the link below to sign the petition.
