From Ron Paul for Campaign For Liberty:
Have you seen the news? The FBI is spying on Campaign for Liberty!
Now, I’m wondering if my own personal phone lines are tapped and emails being read by Peter Strzok-like agents who want to see our Liberty Movement DESTROYED.
That’s why I’m counting on your EMERGENCY action today.
With a showdown looming over PERMANENT reauthorization of the NSA’s domestic spying powers in March, I don’t think it’s an accident we’re being targeted by the Deep State.
They know Campaign for Liberty and the patriots like you who support us are their biggest remaining obstacle to their dream of turning America into a full-blown surveillance state.
They tell us it’s to “keep us safe,” and their power would never, ever be abused.
The Deep State coup they’ve led against President Trump has exposed to many Americans what a blatant LIE this is.
As I’ve pointed out time and again if they’ll go after a sitting president, what’s to stop them from coming after you or me?
The answer is nothing.
That’s why I’m counting on you to please sign your EXPOSE THE DEEP STATE petition to Congress, DEMANDING they investigate FBI spying on Campaign for Liberty and any other domestic organization they’re targeting.
You see, not long ago, Cato Institute Scholar Patrick Eddington submitted hundreds of Freedom of Information Requests (FOIA) to the FBI asking whether the bureau had ever conducted warrantless surveillance of organizations like Campaign for Liberty.
When the responses started pouring back in, the FBI effectively responded, “No, nope, nope, never, not them, nope. . .”
That is UNTIL they were asked about Campaign for Liberty.
Then the FBI issued a “Glomar” response, effectively saying, “No comment.”
These “Glomar” responses are extremely rare, used only when the FBI wants to refuse to confirm or deny whether it was collecting national security or intelligence records on the subjects of the FOIA request.
In other words, if they WEREN’T spying on me, they’d say so!
Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised. . .
To the Deep State, I’m “dangerous” because I support liberty.
That’s been the message time and again, going all the way back to 2009 when the Department of Homeland Security issued warnings about people with my presidential campaign stickers on their cars!
Then, a few years later, we were targeted by the IRS seeking personal records and information on some of our largest donors (an attack we fought and ultimately WON with your help).
Deep State mouthpieces in the media have accused me of being a Russian stooge for simply standing up for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Now, this.
With a battle looming over PERMANENT reauthorization over Section 215 of the so-called “USA Freedom Act” in just weeks, I don’t think this is an accident.
This is the (UNCONSTITUTIONAL!) section of federal law pointed to by the Deep State authorizing them to spy on Americans’ phone calls, emails, Internet searches, chats, social media posts, and all the rest. . .
It’s the crown jewel of the domestic surveillance state.
And Campaign for Liberty is daring to threaten its survival!
So Deep State allies in the FBI want to intimidate me into shutting up -- something I will NEVER EVER do, so long as I have you standing beside me.
The only good news is this entire scheme can backfire -- IF I can count on your help today.
Deep State apologists in BOTH parties, from U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to Lindsey Graham (R-SC), are growing squeamish about reauthorization.
They know there’s abuse. And they know -- despite the Deep State’s promises -- domestic government spying has never done anything to catch a terrorist.
For you and me, that’s no surprise. That’s never what these schemes have been about.
From the beginning, they’ve ALWAYS been about shutting up voices like mine who support American freedom.
The good news is, if you and I can FORCE Congress to investigate the FBI’s surveillance of Campaign for Liberty, it will expose the Deep State’s true colors for all of America to see -- right as the battle over reauthorization of Section 215 of the so-called “USA Freedom Act” comes to a head.
That’s why I’m counting on your EMERGENCY action today.
So please sign your EXPOSE THE DEEP STATE petition right away.
But I hope you won’t stop there. If possible, please agree to your most generous contribution to help Campaign for Liberty:
1) Deploy targeted online Internet ads calling on Congress to investigate the FBI spying on Campaign for Liberty and any other similar organization they’re targeting. This may be THE most cost-effective way for you and me to turn up the heat!
2) Use mail and email to contact up to 12 million Americans from coast-to-coast to generate petitions just like the one I’ve linked for you to Congress;
3) Work the talk-radio lines to explain exactly why our effort to expose the Deep State’s true colors is absolutely critical to stop the reauthorization of their UNCONSTITUTIONAL spying powers; and
4) Launch an all-out email and phone mobilization campaign to explain to the American people exactly why the Deep State MUST be exposed.
With the fight over the USA Freedom Act just weeks away, we’re running out of time to raise the resources we need to fight back.
So after you’ve signed your Directive, won’t you please make your most generous contribution of $15?
I know I’ve asked a lot of you lately. But considering everything that’s at stake, I’m asking each and every Campaign for Liberty supporters to dig deep.
Of course, if that’s just too much please agree to $10 or at least $5.
The FBI and their Deep State allies have run rough-shod over Americans’ civil liberties long enough.
It’s time to take the power back -- and that begins by us demanding Congress investigate FBI spying on Campaign for Liberty and any other pro-freedom organization they’re targeting.
Please take action by signing your EXPOSE THE DEEP STATE petition and making your most generous contribution of $15, $10, or at least $5 right away.
For Liberty,
Ron Paul
Chairman

Susan Rice spying scandal misses the point
From Campaign For Liberty:
When it comes to the Susan Rice spying scandal and unmasking the names of Trump staffers “incidentally” picked up in foreign surveillance, the pundits are missing the forest for the trees.
The moment Susan Rice chose to unmask the names of Americans, and likely leak the details of their conversation throughout the Obama administration, it’s clear she had sinister intent.
Some argue what she did wasn't illegal under the dramatically expanded powers Congress unconstitutionally handed intelligence agencies in the name of "fighting terrorism."
But that's exactly the problem!
The real point of this whole ordeal is whether or not the government should have the power to get this information at all.
There’s no denying anymore that the Deep State is being politically weaponized.
And it’s only a matter of time until all of us feel the crunch.
For years, Campaign for Liberty has fought back against the surveillance powers being accumulated under the executive branch.
We warned Congress and the American people that left to their own devices, the Deep State and the administration that oversees it would abuse its authority.
Power corrupts. And the tools the Congress has empowered America’s spy agencies with are simply too powerful to be allowed to continue.
Susan Rice spying on the incoming administration to gain valuable political intelligence ought to be a criminal offense.
That it may not be one at the moment should concern every American. . .
You see if the government is allowed to continue “incidentally” collecting conversations between Americans and foreign citizens, eventually it won’t just be political staffers’ conversations they’re monitoring.
It’ll be yours and mine!
While Section 702 explicitly prohibits intentional targeting of American citizens, the Susan Rice spying scandal shows exactly how the program can be used to catch them “incidentally.”
The NSA regularly intercepts information of innocent Americans without any probable cause or warrant.
In fact, several other instances of abuse exist outside of the Susan Rice spying scandal like,
>>> Employees monitoring communications of their ex-boyfriends and girlfriends -- it occurred so often it was assigned the name, “LOVEINT”;
>>> In one instance, a “programming error” confused the US area code 202 (Washington, D.C.) for the Egyptian country code “20” intercepting a “large number” of calls placed from Washington;
>>> In 2011, the FISA Court (intended to “oversee” the surveillance) ruled that NSA collection of Internet communications violated the 4th Amendment because, even with their “minimization procedures,” the agency was still collecting 56,000 American emails a year.
Section 702 is precisely the type of surveillance used against the colonists that led our Founding Fathers to fight a revolution over!
That’s why this summer, when Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act comes up for reauthorization, you and I must be ready to mobilize on this opportunity.
I’m preparing an all-out assault on the surveillance state, but I need to know you’re with me.
That’s why I’ve prepared a brief Statement of Support for you to sign.
It lets Dr. Paul and I know that you’ll stand with Campaign for Liberty and the members of Congress who lead the fight against renewing Section 702 this summer.
Our efforts in 2015 led to a temporary expiration of the controversial Patriot Act provisions, preventing Congress from further watering down the so-called “USA FREEDOM Act.”
Americans must demand that Congress stop the mass surveillance of innocent Americans’ communications and conduct a full Congressional investigation into the Susan Rice spying scandal.
I’ll be sure to follow-up with more information detailing our plans and how you can help to fight back against illegal spying.
But for now, I hope you’ll sign your Statement of Support and chip in $10 or even $20 to let us know you’re ready for a fight!
In Liberty,
Norm Singleton

P.S. The warrantless surveillance of Americans like that of the Trump staffers by political cronies like Susan Rice must be stopped!

Section 702 destroys your civil liberties
From Campaign For Liberty (Ron Paul):
Unless we act now, grassroots liberty activists across the country could suffer the same fate as General Michal Flynn, President Trump's former national security advisor.
As you may know, General Flynn was forced to resign because of leaked information. . .
Information obtained by warrantless wiretapping authorized by Section 702 of the FISA Act.
Section 702 is supposed to only apply to warrantless wiretapping of foreigners, but snoop state agents have used it to gather information on American citizens who have contact — or may have had contact — with foreign citizens.
It’s a definition so broad that it encompasses almost every American!
Section 702 was even used to justify the mass surveillance program exposed by Edward Snowden.
For years, critics of warrantless wiretapping and mass surveillance warned that these powers could — and would — be used to harass and silence critics of the government. . .
Now with the takedown of General Flynn, our worst fears have been confirmed.
Prominent politicians and mainstream media figures are celebrating the use of unconstitutional surveillance which forced a member of the President’s cabinet to resign.
And they are calling for the "Deep State” — the network of "intelligence” agencies, their defenders and allies on Capitol Hill, and the “mainstream” media — to step up their efforts to undermine the Trump Administration. . .
If the Deep State can successfully target a prominent public figure like General Flynn, then what is to stop them from targeting grassroots Americans working to restore the government to its constitutional limits, end our hyper-interventionist foreign policy, and strike directly at the heart of the welfare-warfare state and crony capitalism by auditing — then ending — the Federal Reserve?
We have already seen attempts at the state level to silence pro-liberty activists by imposing burdensome regulations on them.
And of course, we have also seen the IRS's targeting of pro-liberty groups under the prior administration, as well as the IRS’s ongoing efforts to force Campaign for Liberty to divulge the names of some of our most loyal supporters.
We have even seen efforts to silence groups like Campaign for Liberty by preventing us from talking about a politician’s record in the months before an election.
Considering these ongoing efforts to criminalize Campaign for Liberty, is it really so unbelievable that the Deep State will also work to quash the liberty movement?
. . . Especially if they can do so with the enthusiastic support of establishment politicians and mainstream and (neo) conservative media?
The threat that the Deep State will use Section 702 and other surveillance powers to intimidate the liberty movement makes it all the more imperative that we act and act NOW to force Congress to restore the Fourth Amendment.
The good news is that we have an opportunity to do just that. . .
You see, unless Congress acts, Section 702 expires this year, guaranteeing that Congress will debate the future of warrantless wiretapping and mass surveillance rule in the coming months.
Campaign for Liberty is already working to take advantage of this debate to not just kill Section 702, but also force Congress to further limit the ability of government bureaucrats to spy on us without a warrant.
Make no mistake: this will be a difficult battle.
Deep State allies on Capitol Hill and in the media, aided by lobbyists for the crony capitalists who profit by helping government take away your rights, will use every bit of their considerable influence to continue the ongoing assault on the Fourth Amendment and your liberties.
So is there any way I can count of you to help stop the Deep State by ending the surveillance state with a contribution of $15?
With the Flynn case demonstrating the real threat that warrantless wiretapping and mass surveillance poses to the liberty movement, we must not let the opportunity to kill laws like Section 702 slip through our hands.
The fallout from the use of information obtained via warrantless wiretapping to take down General Flynn may have gained us new allies in or fight to end unconstitutional surveillance, both in Congress and in the administration.
Campaign for Liberty must reach out to potential new allies and make sure pro-liberty Americans are ready to stand with you and me in this battle.
We must also target wavering Senators and Representatives with targeted emails and banner ads on popular websites like Google and Facebook.
Campaign for Liberty members like you have already defied conventional wisdom in battles against unconstitutional mass surveillance.
In 2015, my son, Senator Rand Paul, successfully, if only temporarily, blocked renewal of three of the worst PATRIOT Act provisions. . .
The only reason Rand was able to do this was because Campaign for Liberty members like you helped us turn up the heat on Senators by flooding their offices with phone calls, faxes, and emails. . . plus we were able to target key Senators with Banner Bombs in their states.
If we can duplicate this effort — but on a much larger scale — I am confident we can repeal Section 702 and other unconstitutional laws authoring government spying on innocent citizens.
So if $15 is too much, is there any way I can a can count on you for a special contribution of $10?

Trump adminstration may be hostile to Net Neutrality;individual privacy.
From Open Media:
The Internet is at a turning point: Under Donald Trump, Net Neutrality now ‘faces extinction’ at the FCC,1 and the NSA is poised for a dramatic expansion in spy powers.2 Either we stand up now for our digital rights, or we accept a world where everything we do online is monitored by governments and ISPs, free expression is quashed, and Internet access gets more expensive.
The United States has always been a trend-setter for Internet policy across the globe. If we stop fighting for our values then the door flies open for oppressive regimes the world over to follow our regressive lead.
Our nimble team is ready for this fight -- and we’ve received some seriously good news: a generous donor has just offered to double your donation every single month for a whole year if you sign up as a monthly donor right now.
This could make a huge difference in our fight against some of the most powerful and well-funded interests on the planet.
At OpenMedia, we’re experts in using cutting edge digital tools to force decision-makers to pay attention to citizen voices. But building and sharing these tools takes a lot of time and resources.
Our fight wouldn’t be possible without the strength of our grassroots donors: it’s their donations that enable us to run high impact campaigns to defend the Internet in the United States and around the world.
And if you donate today the Internet Society and TunnelBear have generously agreed to match the value of your donation. Please, give $10, $20 or whatever you can and double your impact protecting the open Internet!
Here’s what we’re up against in 2017:
A President and Congress intent on dismantling Net Neutrality consumer safeguards.1
Out-of-control government surveillance threatening to turn the Internet into something it was never intended to be: Big Brother.3
A president-elect who says he wants to “close down parts of the Internet” and who actually will have the power to make that happen.4
An AT&T-Time Warner mega-merger that will result in less competition and Internet price hikes for average Americans.5
If we are going to keep the Internet open, we’re going to have to fight to protect it. To succeed we need you to donate today so we can unlock essential matching funds. Please join for this time-sensitive opportunity.
The open Internet is under constant threat, but because of people like you we know we’ll be there to protect it.
With gratitude for all you do,
Alana,
on behalf of your OpenMedia team
P.S. The open Internet empowers everyday people in an unprecedented way--to create, share, communicate, learn, invent, challenge government, support a cause, and express ourselves. Big Media, Big Telecom, and governments all want to put you and the free Internet on a leash. Please donate now before our special matching funds program ends — for just this short time, we can double your impact.

Fire the FBI Director
From Fight For The Future:
Comey’s recent crusade against Apple is just the latest of many attempts to curtail our civil rights and invade our privacy in the name of national security - he has been endangering communities and security technology for decades.
He was instrumental in creating the vast domestic spy program that exists today. After 9/11, he authorized Bush’s massive, illegal domestic surveillance program and approved torture techniques like waterboarding. [1]
The FBI should protect the people: sign our open letter and tell Comey he’s out of control.
The government has access to more information and people now than ever. And yet, Comey insists he needs more. After lying to Congress about the need to sue Apple to build a backdoor into the iPhone, the FBI paid hackers over $1.3 million to access the San Bernadino iPhone. He’s since admitted that the lawsuit would have set a legal precedent that we know is dangerous, and we’re not alone.
Even the NSA thinks Comey is spying too hard.
Current and former NSA directors have spoken out against him. NSA Director Adm. Mike Rogers has called the FBI’s campaign against encryption a “waste of time.”[2] Rogers believes that end-to-end encryption is foundational to national security.
FBI Director Comey’s obsession with other people’s secrets could seriously harm our national security. Sign our petition telling him to resign.

Chris Christie blames Rand Paul for Chattanooga shooting
I see Chris Christie or should I say pissed pissy is throwing a hissy fit. He has the nerve to blame Senator Rand Paul for the Chattanooga shooting at the military recruitment center there. Pissy Christie had to nerve to say that since Senator Paul fought back against the NSA's illegal spy program that targeted innocent people that Paul is at fault for making America weaker. The data mining the NSA conducted did not work and it compromised American citizens Constitutional liberties. Data mining does not work or else we could have stopped the Boston bombers before they carried out their terrorist acts. If Christie believes data mining does work then he more than welcome to look at the facts before running his mouth. Paul enjoys the backing of the people and high approval numbers. Christie is a statist that has neither in his corner. In fact his numbers are quite dismal. When one makes these comparisons between the two candidates you can see whom the superior candidate is and it is not Chris Christie.

Back Rand Paul as he stands up to the statists to defeat the Patriot Act
From Rand2016:
While many Americans are gearing up for another early-summer weekend, I'm gearing up for an all-out fight Sunday afternoon.
When you and I won our stunning victory last week -- defeating every attempt to extend or reauthorize the worst of the so-called "PATRIOT Act's" ILLEGAL spying provisions -- that was just the beginning.
Since then, I've been attacked viciously by the Obama White House -- the same President who ran for office pledging to end these spying schemes as part of the "hope" and "change" he was offering the American people -- for daring to stand up for the Constitution I swore to uphold as a U.S. Senator.
That's business-as-usual for the Washington Machine: Campaign on nothing but lies -- and then deliver the American people the status-quo.
If you want a new direction in Washington, I must be able to count on your IMMEDIATE action.
With only about 36 hours left, time is running out. So please chip in $20.16 to my campaign's "NSA Spying Showdown" Money Bomb right away, and then forward this email to everyone you know.
Our Founders were willing to give up everything to ensure Americans' God-given rights were protected -- ultimately drawing a line in the sand AGAINST any government encroachment on our freedoms with the Bill of Rights.
Today, the Bill of Rights is under assault like never before by members of BOTH parties. And the Fourth Amendment right to privacy against government intrusion is at the top of their list.
Instead of hauling in the NSA lawbreakers who crafted these ILLEGAL domestic spying programs -- and then lied about it before Congress -- my colleagues in the Senate are now looking for ways to excuse and extend the schemes.
They tell you and me we have to give up every bit of our Liberty for security -- while ignoring the fact the FBI admitted this program has cracked exactly ZERO terrorist plots!
You and I don't have to give up one ounce of our Liberty for security.
But it's up to you and me to ensure our government spends its time targeting those who are truly dangerous -- instead of fumbling through law-abiding American citizens' phone records.
This is not a fight you and I can ignore.
It strikes to the very heart of what it means to be an American.
I believe free people can best live their lives out from under the control or watchful eye of government bureaucrats.
But the Washington Machine believes security can only be had in the arms of Big Brother.
If the American people buy this lie, I fear our fragile Republic may not long survive.
We must fight back.
Please chip in a contribution of $20.16 to my "NSA Spying Showdown" Money Bomb right away.

Rand Paul

Don't let Obama dismiss our lawsuit
From Freedom Works:
Obama just asked the District Court to THROW OUT our lawsuit against him and the NSA. I need your help.
Two months ago, FreedomWorks and I sued the Obama Administration on behalf of your Constitutional rights. Our lead attorney Ken Cuccinelli filed a class action lawsuit to STOP the NSA’s reported massive, warrantless-collection of your personal data.
But Obama wants to dismiss the case, he wants to stop us. We can’t let him win.
We’re not going to back down. We’re not going to give in and LET Obama win. But lawsuits like this are expensive. And that’s why I need you to help us raise $200,000 in the next 5 days. We can’t afford to lose this case. That’s why FreedomWorks and I need your help today.
Please chip in $50, $35, or $15 right now to support our lawsuit against Barack Obama and the NSA!
I know you’ve heard the reports from Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Fox News, and almost every other news outlet. The NSA may be spying on you. They may be tracking your phone records. They may be monitoring your emails. Ray, it’s possible they’re even tracking your movements – all without a warrant.
This needs to change. Our Founding Fathers fought and died for our Bill of Rights and to protect us from government spying. They didn’t risk their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor for you and me to live under tyranny.
Please I need you to donate $50, $35, or $15 right now.
We cannot let a few members of the Washington elite tarnish our entire nation. I was raised to believe America was the moral beacon of the world - and I still believe that. The reports of the NSA's mass data collection are not befitting of our great country.
We are standing up for our Constitutional rights. We can’t let Obama dismiss this case. Will you support us?

Tell Obama to stop spying on American citizens
From Free Press Action Fund:
President Obama just met with Sen. Ron Wyden and others about the NSA's overreaching surveillance programs. And as early as next week, the president will announce whether he intends to reform the government’s spying apparatus. But will President Obama side with the public — which wants to end these programs — or will he cave?
As Sen. Wyden said yesterday, this is crunch time. Let’s push President Obama to support the USA Freedom Act.
Passing this bill is the first step toward restoring our right to privacy online. Sign now and we’ll deliver your signature straight to the White House.
Thanks,

Tell President Obama: Support the USA Freedom Act
The White House just released a series of recommendations for the NSA’s surveillance programs.1 The report is a positive step in the push to end the mass surveillance of millions of people.
But on their own these recommendations would do nothing to stop the NSA’s invasive programs. And some suggestions — like the notion that companies like AT&T and Verizon, rather than the NSA, should retain bottomless troves of our personal data — could prove even more harmful to our rights to connect and communicate in private.
The president needs to support the recommendations that would stop mass surveillance. And his next step should be to support the USA Freedom Act.
Tell President Obama to Stand Up for the USA Freedom Act
This week’s report echoes what we’re hearing from the courts and Congress. Just this week, a federal court ruled that collecting “metadata” on millions of peoples’ phone calls is likely unconstitutional.1 This is the program that the bipartisan USA Freedom Act — which more and more members of Congress are in favor of — would end.
Urge President Obama to Support the USA Freedom Act
Obama once said that “there is no reason we cannot fight terrorism while maintaining our civil liberties.”
We agree. That’s why the president should heed the panel’s recommendations — and get behind the USA Freedom Act.
Thanks,
Josh, Jen, Misty, Amy and the rest of the Free Press Action Fund team
P.S. Free Press fights every day to protect your privacy. We don’t take money from business, government or political parties and rely on the generosity of people like you to fuel our work. Please give $15 (or more!) today. Thank you!

The government is spying on you
From Demand Progress:
It's an outrage: The Guardian has obtained long sought-after evidence of the extent of ongoing spying on Americans under the PATRIOT Act -- and it's as bad as we'd worried.
The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America's largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.
The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.
Click here to demand that the Congress investigate -- and put an end to -- this spying right away!
The government is continuing -- and expanding -- egregious spying and other infringement on our civil liberties that began under the Bush administration. And enough is enough!
Please sign on to our petition to the House Oversight Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee to demand an immediate investigation of this spying.
Just click here to tell Congress to investigate -- and end -- the spying right now!

From Fight For The Future:
A leaked document proves that the US government is tracking call information and caller location for every American who uses Verizon. And probably every other carrier as well.
The top secret court ruling -- obtained by The Guardian -- shows that the NSA forced Verizon to hand over the records of every single customer’s phone calls “on an ongoing, daily basis.” Sounds like dystopian sci-fi? Read the ruling for yourself, it’s only 3 pages.
This confirms what we and other digital rights organizations have been saying for years: the U.S. Government’s domestic surveillance programs are completely out of control.
Help us send a message so strong it can’t be ignored. This indiscriminate spying on innocent Americans must stop immediately, and those responsible should be prosecuted for violating the Constitution.
The Obama administration responded this morning, saying it’s a tool to monitor “suspected terrorists”. But they weren’t monitoring terrorists; they were monitoring every Verizon customer and--most likely--every single American with a cellphone.
This new revelation could really be the last straw, the thing that grabs the public’s attention and catalyzes a new movement for protecting our Constitutional rights online. But tons of people still haven’t even heard the news.
We’ll be building out this site and adding updates all day. If you only take action on one thing this year, this should be it. This is outrageous and straight forward enough that your Grandma will want to sign it. Tell everyone. We need to draw a line in the sand to protect our rights.
More on this soon.
Sincerely,
Holmes Wilson

Tell congress not to spy on its citizens
From Demand Progress:
G-Men: If you want to read my email, come back with a warrant.
There's a key vote next week: If you don't want the government to be able to read your emails without a warrant, please add your name at right.
The current dynamic is all over the place -- sometimes the government can read your emails without warrants, sometimes it can't (details on that at bottom).
Next week the Senate Judiciary Committee will be taking up amendments that could vastly improve the situation. But some members of the committee are doing law enforcement's bidding and might try to give the spooks even easier access to our emails.
It's a good moment for this push, as General Petraeus email scandal has revealed the astonishing degree of access the government has to our emails and personal information.
Plainly put: The FBI gained warrantless access to a series of email accounts, and took down one of the figures most respected by the political establishment and the mainstream media. They can absolutely do the same thing to any last one of us.
Join us as we urge the Senate to protect us from undue government access to our emails: Tell them to come back with a warrant.
Source:click here to sign the petition.
If you find the idea of the government spying on you appalling then by all means sign the petition. If you find that warrantless searches to be unacceptable then please sign the petition. If you value the 4th Amendment then sign the petition.
