The government wants to spy on you

From Freedom Press Action Fund:

The Trump administration may get even more power to spy on your personal communications — unless we speak out.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R–Arkansas) has introduced a bill that would permanently reauthorize an invasive surveillance program that violates your online privacy. Given this administration's hostility toward communities of color and activists, the reauthorization of this program would pose a particular threat to marginalized people in the United States.

Tell Congress that this is unacceptable: Do not reauthorize Section 702 spying.

Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act authorizes intelligence agencies (like the FBI and NSA) to scan in bulk phone calls, text messages and emails traveling across the internet. These agencies are supposed to target only people outside the United States, but they also sweep up massive amounts of Americans’ communications — without a warrant or any individualized suspicion of wrongdoing.

Section 702 is one of the surveillance programs Edward Snowden exposed. Now it's up to us to protect our online privacy from an administration that's notorious for abusing its power.

It’s common for the Section 702 dragnet to sweep up “family photographs, love letters, personal financial matters, discussions of physical and mental health, and political and religious exchanges” between Americans. While this sweeping authority was meant to protect us from the most serious threats to our national security, the FBI regularly uses it to sidestep Fourth Amendment protections and search Americans' personal information for matters entirely unrelated to foreign intelligence. Instead of letting this horrible surveillance dragnet expire, Cotton's bill would make it a permanent fixture of life in the United States.

Urge Congress to protect your online privacy and rein in mass government surveillance.

Trump adminstration may be hostile to Net Neutrality;individual privacy.

From Open Media:

The Internet is at a turning point: Under Donald Trump, Net Neutrality now ‘faces extinction’ at the FCC,1 and the NSA is poised for a dramatic expansion in spy powers.2 Either we stand up now for our digital rights, or we accept a world where everything we do online is monitored by governments and ISPs, free expression is quashed, and Internet access gets more expensive.

The United States has always been a trend-setter for Internet policy across the globe. If we stop fighting for our values then the door flies open for oppressive regimes the world over to follow our regressive lead.

Our nimble team is ready for this fight -- and we’ve received some seriously good news: a generous donor has just offered to double your donation every single month for a whole year if you sign up as a monthly donor right now.

This could make a huge difference in our fight against some of the most powerful and well-funded interests on the planet.

At OpenMedia, we’re experts in using cutting edge digital tools to force decision-makers to pay attention to citizen voices. But building and sharing these tools takes a lot of time and resources.

Our fight wouldn’t be possible without the strength of our grassroots donors: it’s their donations that enable us to run high impact campaigns to defend the Internet in the United States and around the world.

And if you donate today the Internet Society and TunnelBear have generously agreed to match the value of your donation. Please, give $10, $20 or whatever you can and double your impact protecting the open Internet!

Here’s what we’re up against in 2017:

A President and Congress intent on dismantling Net Neutrality consumer safeguards.1

Out-of-control government surveillance threatening to turn the Internet into something it was never intended to be: Big Brother.3

A president-elect who says he wants to “close down parts of the Internet” and who actually will have the power to make that happen.4

An AT&T-Time Warner mega-merger that will result in less competition and Internet price hikes for average Americans.5

If we are going to keep the Internet open, we’re going to have to fight to protect it. To succeed we need you to donate today so we can unlock essential matching funds. Please join for this time-sensitive opportunity.

The open Internet is under constant threat, but because of people like you we know we’ll be there to protect it.

With gratitude for all you do,
Alana,
on behalf of your OpenMedia team

P.S. The open Internet empowers everyday people in an unprecedented way--to create, share, communicate, learn, invent, challenge government, support a cause, and express ourselves. Big Media, Big Telecom, and governments all want to put you and the free Internet on a leash. Please donate now before our special matching funds program ends — for just this short time, we can double your impact.

Fire the FBI Director

From Fight For The Future:

Comey’s recent crusade against Apple is just the latest of many attempts to curtail our civil rights and invade our privacy in the name of national security - he has been endangering communities and security technology for decades.

He was instrumental in creating the vast domestic spy program that exists today. After 9/11, he authorized Bush’s massive, illegal domestic surveillance program and approved torture techniques like waterboarding. [1]

The FBI should protect the people: sign our open letter and tell Comey he’s out of control.

The government has access to more information and people now than ever. And yet, Comey insists he needs more. After lying to Congress about the need to sue Apple to build a backdoor into the iPhone, the FBI paid hackers over $1.3 million to access the San Bernadino iPhone. He’s since admitted that the lawsuit would have set a legal precedent that we know is dangerous, and we’re not alone.

Even the NSA thinks Comey is spying too hard.

Current and former NSA directors have spoken out against him. NSA Director Adm. Mike Rogers has called the FBI’s campaign against encryption a “waste of time.”[2] Rogers believes that end-to-end encryption is foundational to national security.

FBI Director Comey’s obsession with other people’s secrets could seriously harm our national security. Sign our petition telling him to resign.

CISPA is back only know it is known as CISA

From Fight For The Future:

CISA: the dirty deal between government and corporate giants.

It's the dirty deal that lets much of government from the NSA to local police get your private data from your favorite websites and lets them use it without due process.

The government is proposing a massive bribe—they will give corporations immunity for breaking virtually any law if they do so while providing the NSA, DHS, DEA, and local police surveillance access to everyone's data in exchange for getting away with crimes, like fraud, money laundering, or illegal wiretapping.

Specifically it incentivizes companies to automatically and simultaneously transfer your data to the DHS, NSA, FBI, and local police with all of your personally-indentifying information by giving companies legal immunity (notwithstanding any law), and on top of that, you can't use the Freedom of Information Act to find out what has been shared.

The NSA and members of Congress want to pass a "cybersecurity" bill so badly, they’re using the recent hack of the Office of Personnel Management as justification for bringing CISA back up and rushing it through. In reality, the OPM hack just shows that the government has not been a good steward of sensitive data and they need to institute real security measures to fix their problems. The truth is that CISA could not have prevented
the OPM hack, and no Senator could explain how it could have. Congress and the NSA are using irrational hysteria to turn the Internet into a place where the government has overly broad, unchecked powers.

Why Faxes?

Since 2012, online and civil liberties groups and 30,000+ sites have driven more than 2.6 million emails and hundreds of thousands of calls, tweets and more to Congress opposing overly broad cybersecurity legislation. Congress has tried to pass CISA in one form or another 4 times, and they were beat back every time by people like you. It's clear Congress is completely out of touch with modern technology, so this week, as Congress rushes toward a vote on CISA, we are going to send them thousands of faxes, a technology from the 1980s that is hopefully antiquated enough for them to understand.

Sending a fax is super easy — you can use this page to send a fax. Any tweet with the hashtag #faxbigbrother will get turned into a fax to Congress too, so what are you waiting for? Click here

On Hillary and Iran

This is a sad time for America. The White House,FBI,NSA,IRS and State Department are controlled by the Democratic National Committee. The White House is politicalized, that is to be expected but the others are supposed to be neutral. These are the governmental organizations that Obama controls. The government bodies that he can't control,The House Of Representatives and The Senate,he does an end run around. Obama said he got the United Nations to ratify his bullshit deal with Iran. The United Nations?!! THE UNITED NATIONS !!! I fucking hate the United Nations. All the United Nations wants to do is take your dick or your gun away. Those are there only agendas they have: outlaw men and outlaw guns. Why the fuck would I want to help the UN? Congress is bullshit too, approving the Corker bill that severely handicaps their ability to add libertarian amendments to otherwise draconian bills so instead it's a up and down, approve all or none vote that the People don't want. The Iran deal is bullshit. Tell the Senate not to ratify this bullshit. The only ones celebrating this deal are the mullahs. Everyone else hates it. If you hate it too let your Senator know too. As far as Hillary is concerned, two inspector generals have submitted forms to Department Of Justice Criminal Investigations Department calling for them to investigate Hillary and her emails. Will the DOJ pick this up and run with it? Who knows. The only thing I can say is stay tuned.

Chris Christie blames Rand Paul for Chattanooga shooting

I see Chris Christie or should I say pissed pissy is throwing a hissy fit. He has the nerve to blame Senator Rand Paul for the Chattanooga shooting at the military recruitment center there. Pissy Christie had to nerve to say that since Senator Paul fought back against the NSA's illegal spy program that targeted innocent people that Paul is at fault for making America weaker. The data mining the NSA conducted did not work and it compromised American citizens Constitutional liberties. Data mining does not work or else we could have stopped the Boston bombers before they carried out their terrorist acts. If Christie believes data mining does work then he more than welcome to look at the facts before running his mouth. Paul enjoys the backing of the people and high approval numbers. Christie is a statist that has neither in his corner. In fact his numbers are quite dismal. When one makes these comparisons between the two candidates you can see whom the superior candidate is and it is not Chris Christie.

Government persecutes Campaign For Liberty

From Campaign For Liberty:

I've been bracing for this for months now.

Recently, my attorneys informed me the IRS has launched a new attack on Campaign for Liberty.

The IRS is now demanding sensitive contributor information on C4L donors going all the way back to 2012!

I've instructed Campaign for Liberty staff to give them absolutely nothing until I hear from you.

This assault is flat-out UNCONSTITUTIONAL and illegal.

But I'm not naïve.

I know that more legal threats and hefty fines designed to cripple Campaign for Liberty – or even force us to shut our doors – are right around the corner.

And I don't think it's any accident this is happening right in the midst of our fights to finally audit the Federal Reserve and stop the NSA's out-of-control domestic spying schemes!

But the truth is, I have a decision to make - a critical decision that could affect Campaign for Liberty's very survival in the months ahead.

Do I fight on? Do I risk everything? Do I tell the statist IRS to go fly a kite?

Or should Campaign for Liberty just pay up, keep our head down, and hope this never happens again?

I'm afraid those are my only options.

That's why I urgently need your advice.

So, I've included a special "IRS Battle Survey" with this letter. Will you please fill it out, and return it to me right away?

The truth is, I must hear from you IMMEDIATELY.

Even after Campaign for Liberty members and supporters finally forced the IRS to back down during our standoff last year, I knew there would be more assaults in the works.

And as I warned you not long ago, my worry was they would try to weaken our liberty movement right in the midst of our most critical legislative efforts – right when it matters most!

Now – with congressional fights over NSA spying and the Federal Reserve smearing anyone who dares question their secrecy - it's happening.

What the IRS is demanding from Campaign for Liberty is contributor information on some of our top donors - pointing to a rarely enforced and unconstitutional bureaucratic rule.

As a 501(c)(4) organization under IRS law, all Campaign for Liberty contributor information is supposed to be confidential.

This is a critical protection I wholeheartedly support.

Privacy and liberty go hand-in-hand.

When Thomas Paine published his pamphlet Common Sense in 1776, he did so anonymously.

Forcing organizations like Campaign for Liberty to publicize donor information would have an incredibly chilling effect on political free speech.

Many liberty-loving Americans would silence themselves for fear of becoming targets of political "retribution."

And after the Obama IRS was caught red-handed targeting pro-limited government groups for harassment and intimidation, these fears could not be more well-founded.

So there's no way I would ever just hand this kind of information over to these government bureaucrats.

That's not an option. Campaign for Liberty is prepared to lead this fight on behalf of all freedom-loving Americans. But I need you to tell me what to do. Please tell me how I should respond to this new IRS threat.

When we filed annual reports with the IRS as required by law, we refused to provide this information.

Now, the IRS is demanding this information – from all the way back in 2012!

But the truth is, the IRS has only occasionally sought to "enforce" their ridiculous rule.

And for good reason. Several years ago, the National Organization for Marriage complied with IRS demands and promptly saw their donor information publicized. The IRS was forced to pay a fine to the organization and issue a public apology.

I'm afraid the real reason they're coming after Campaign for Liberty is something far more sinister.

They know more Americans are beginning to agree with you and me.

They know our r3VOLution is growing stronger by the day.

Americans are fed up with BOTH parties' out-of-control spending, unconstitutional spying, backroom "deals," and weekly assaults on our remaining freedoms.

That's why Campaign for Liberty is being targeted.

That's why the statists in BOTH parties want so much to shut us up and shut us down.

I'm afraid without your support and advice today, they could very well get their wish.

I have no doubt if I took the IRS to court over its ridiculous demands, Campaign for Liberty would win, hands down.

But I'm afraid that's not what this is about.

Campaign for Liberty is run on a shoestring budget.

We don't have millions lying around in the bank.

This is about draining us.

This is about forcing me to take resources from other critical programs like Audit the Fed just to keep our doors open!

That's why I want so badly to just say "NO!"

But without an IMMEDIATE influx of funds, I'm afraid we'll be sitting ducks.

I just won't be able to pay for everything.

But the alternative could be worse.

Paying any fine the IRS levies and complying with the IRS' demands - just to exercise our rights as American citizens to petition our government – may be cheaper in the short run.

But it'll simply embolden the IRS and an alphabet soup of other federal agencies to come after us.

This is the price you pay for daring to stand up to a federal government that wants to keep taxing, spending, and printing every American into the poorhouse.

So what do I do?

Won't you please fill out your "IRS Battle Survey" right away?

I'm going to ask my staff to tally up the votes, and I will proceed as C4L's generous members and supporters tell me to.

The decision is in your hands.

But if you tell me to fight, please realize this is serious.

Any potential legal fight is going to take money - money Campaign for Liberty does not have lying around.

So I must ask you to agree to an emergency gift of $30 .

I know that's a lot. But this is the IRS we're talking about. This is not a game.

I have to ask all Campaign for Liberty supporters to go above and beyond what they've done in the past.

But if $30 is just too much, won't you please agree to $20 , or at least $10 ?

This is not something I can just put off. I need to hear from you right away. I'm anxiously awaiting your response.

Please fill out your "IRS Battle Survey" and agree to your most generous gift of $30 , $20 , or at least $10 TODAY.

For Liberty

Ron Paul
Chairman

P.S. The IRS has struck again. Campaign for Liberty received a letter DEMANDING we turn over sensitive contributor information to the IRS!

The statists' goal is to cripple Campaign for Liberty and perhaps even force us to shut our doors. So I need you to tell me how I should respond to this new IRS threat using your "IRS Battle ?Survey."

And if you possibly can, please agree to your most generous gift of $30 , $20 , or at least $10 to help Campaign for Liberty fight back TODAY!

HR 2685 will end warantless spying by the NSA

From Freedom Works:

You stood with Rand, during Senator Paul’s historic filibuster of the PATRIOT Act.

I hope you are still standing and still fighting.

Rep. Thomas Massie is. He just introduced an amendment to the Department of Defense Appropriations bill (H.R. 2685) that would end warrantless spying on Americans. This amendment is another step towards ending Obama’s illegal spying program. I need your help to get this critical amendment passed. Will you help me end warrantless surveillance by calling your congressman today?

The fight to protect the Constitution isn’t over. Rep. Massie’s amendment is that next step. Obama wants his NSA to spy on you without a warrant or provocation, and members of both parties are constantly trying to give him exactly what he wants. We must remain committed, and continue to fight Obama’s illegal spying program. Contact your congressman today, tell them: Stop warrantless spying, support Rep. Massie’s amendment.

Stand for your rights, stop warrantless surveillance!Click here

Support The Due Process Guarantee

From Rand2016:

There is only one way to describe detaining a U.S. citizen indefinitely and denying them a trial by jury: Un-American.

If the federal government can arrest you, throw you in prison for years, and strip away your due process rights to prove your innocence, our Republic is sliding into dangerous territory.

That’s why I’m introducing – along with Senator Mike Lee and others - the Due Process Guarantee to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

This amendment blocks indefinite detention of American citizens without being charged and denying them a jury trial unless there is a vote in Congress.

Will you stand with me in the fight against indefinite detention?

I’m running for President to defeat the Washington Machine on EVERY front.

Just last week, you and I took a step toward restoring the Fourth Amendment in my filibuster to end illegal NSA spying.

But now, our Sixth Amendment rights to a speedy and public trial are threatened by the indefinite detention language in the NDAA.

Some of my colleagues will claim we should “trust the government” because this power will never be abused.

I REFUSE to trust President Obama where matters of Constitutional principle are at stake.

Not when the Director of National Intelligence lies to Congress about the existence of the NSA’s illegal spying program and still has a job.

And not when the IRS targeted Tea Party groups for political harassment.

I believe you and I were endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights.

And those include the right to be free from an Orwellian policy that allows the government to toss American citizens in prison while denying them the ability to prove their innocence.

This is a fight you and I can win.

In 2012, a conference committee killed an amendment the Senate passed stripping the indefinite detention language out of the NDAA.

But after hundreds of thousands of Americans stood with me in my showdown with President Obama over illegal NSA spying, you and I proved the grassroots turning up the heat can push our government toward protecting the Bill of Rights.

A vote could come as soon as this week.

So I’m counting on your support right away.

Please add your name to my fight against the Washington Machine’s attack on due process by signing your “STOP INDEFINITE DETENTION” petition right away.

After you sign your petition, please chip in a contribution of $20.16 to help me mobilize a movement to defeat the Washington Machine by standing for the Bill of Rights.

The Washington Machine hasn’t given up attacking our liberties.

It’s up to you and me to defend them.

Support Rand Paul as he stands up to the statists

From Rand2016:

There are howls of rage across Washington.

I stood against President Obama and forced his illegal domestic spying program to expire and now the establishment is lining up against me.

But I came here to defend the Constitution.

And outside the beltway, Americans are demanding their government abide by the Bill of Rights.

Over 200,000 patriots stood with me against President Obama over the NSA's illegal spying program and our movement was able to earn a victory no one saw coming.

My campaign has prepared a new TV ad on my NSA showdown against President Obama.

Please take a few moments to watch the ad and help me get it in front of as many voters as possible in the key states by chipping in a contribution of $20.16?

The spy state apologists were FUMING after my ten-and-a-half-hour filibuster and repeated objections blocked them from rushing renewal of these illegal programs through Congress.

They were asking us to "trust" President Obama with the collection of our phone records.

Well after the revelations that the IRS was targeting tea party groups for harassment and the Director of National Intelligence lying to Congress about the existence of the NSA's illegal spying program "trust Obama" is out the window.

And these programs don't even work!

The FBI admitted the NSA's programs helped them crack exactly ZERO cases!

So I took a stand and I fought.

And I refused to give an inch.

The very heart of the Washington Machine's abuse of our liberties is President Obama's illegal NSA spying program.

And standing up for the Bill of Rights and demanding an end to illegal domestic spying is what Americans outside the beltway are crying out for.

That's why polls in states like Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania all show me leading Hillary Clinton in head-to-head matchups.

I'm the Republican best positioned to defeat her because I stand up to President Obama and the Washington Machine's illegal assaults on the Bill of Rights.

I need your help to spread this message far and wide.

So please chip in a contribution of $20.16 and help my campaign get this ad in front of as many voters as possible.

It was because true patriots across America stood with me that I was able to force President Obama's illegal NSA spying program to expire.

While this was an important first step toward ending illegal NSA spying once-and-for-all this fight will continue.

I'm pushing to make sure this week will end with President Obama barred from collecting our phone records.

So help me spread my message to as many voters as possible by chipping in contribution of $20.16 to get my campaign's new TV ad on the air in key states today!

In Liberty,

Rand Paul

Getting down to the wire

From Rand 2016:

Tomorrow I will force the expiration of the NSA's illegal spying program.

I will not allow any bill extending illegal NSA spying to be rushed through ahead of the deadline.

My oath is to support and defend the Constitution and I won't back down.

The abuse of general warrants and the attack on the Bill of Rights must stop once-and-for-all.

We don't have to choose between fighting terrorism and obeying the Constitution.

That's why, two years ago, I sued the NSA.

It's why I proposed the Fourth Amendment Protection Act to force our government to abide by the Bill of Rights.

It's why I have fought for a full, open and honest debate on warrantless domestic spying -- a debate that is always kicked down the road in the name of "security."

So last week, with the proponents of this illegal spying rushing toward a deadline to ram through renewing illegal spying, I took a stand.

I filibustered for over 10 hours to shine a light on the vast expansion of the spy state and the erosion of our liberties.

I stood on the Senate floor until the early hours of the morning and helped block any short-term extension of these powers.

Tomorrow, the Senate will come back from recess with just hours left before the NSA's illegal spying powers expire.

And I won't allow defenders of the spy state to legislate through a manufactured crisis by holding a deadline over the head of Congress.

Let me be clear: I believe the number one job of the federal government is national defense.

I believe we must fight terrorism and I believe we must stand strong against our enemies.

But we do not need to compromise the Constitution in the process.

In fact, we must not.

I am ready and willing to start the debate on how we fight terrorism without giving up our liberty.

This can't be delayed any longer.

I do not do this to obstruct.

I'm fighting for a strong national defense that upholds the Constitution and protects Americans from enemies who seek to do us harm.

So I hope I can count on you to sign your petition and stand with me as I force illegal NSA spying to expire and stand strong against any deals or threats.

In Liberty,

Rand Paul

Back Senator Rand Paul this Sunday

From Rand 2016:

Barack Obama effectively labeled me Enemy #1 for refusing to back down on ending illegal NSA snooping, taking what one major news outlet referred to as a direct "swipe" at me and my campaign.

I don't mind a bit.

Midnight Sunday is the line President Obama drew in the sand yesterday when he demanded the U.S. Senate pass the House-approved "reform" bill to keep bulk collection of the American people's phone data going.

I've drawn my line in the sand too. And I'm not backing down.

On Sunday, I'm going to fight to END the NSA's illegal spying program with everything I've got.

Can I count on you to be in my corner on Sunday?

And can I count on you to please chip in a contribution of $10 or more to help me mobilize a grassroots army of freedom-loving Patriots to end the NSA's illegal spying program?

As someone who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, I refuse to stand by and allow Congress to continue the NSA's illegal spying program without putting up a fight.

The Second Court of Appeals - the court right below the Supreme Court - just ruled the program illegal.

Instead of demanding Congress continue the NSA's illegal spying program, Barack Obama should take action and end the illegal program himself.

After all, it was an Executive Order that started NSA spying in the first place. And it can be undone by Executive Order.

But Barack Obama refuses to budge.

So on Sunday, I plan to end the illegal program for him.

Will you pledge to stand with me as I stare down Barack Obama and his spy state allies on the Senate floor by adding your name to this fight?

If I'm going to slug it out Sunday with the spy state apologists, I'm going to need all the help and support I can get.

Unfortunately, it seems the president, the senior senator from Arizona and other members of the "eye roll" caucus who can't stand any mention of the Bill of Rights are all operating out of the same playbook.

They've all painted a giant target on my back as someone who must be railroaded in order to ram through some type of phony "reform" bill before midnight Sunday.

If Barack Obama and his spy state allies wish to continue the NSA's illegal spying program after midnight Sunday - they're going to have to first get through me - and the hundreds of thousands of Patriots standing in my corner!

I'm counting on you to be one of those Patriots in my corner on Sunday.

So please let me know you've got my back by adding your name to the fight to end illegal spying.

The good news is, the Washington Machine's smear campaign proves you and I are winning this battle.

The American people are sick and tired of business as usual, and our message is resonating among Americans of all backgrounds.

In fact, recent polls have me defeating Hillary Clinton in key swing states like Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.

One member of the media even called me "Hillary Clinton's Kryptonite!"

So once you've added your name to this fight, please forward this email to your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors and ask them to join you and me in this fight by adding their name.

As I mentioned, I'm taking on the entire Washington Machine - from the White House on down on Sunday.

That's why I need as many folks with me as possible in my corner.

So after you've added your name, can I count on you to please chip in $10 to help me mobilize as many Patriots as possible before Sunday's deadline?

Are you with me?

In Liberty,

Rand Paul

Force the unconstitutional Patriot Act to expire

From Campaign For Liberty:

Over the weekend, the liberty movement delivered some heavy blows in Round 1 against the surveillance statists.

And while three unconstitutional provisions of the so-called "Patriot" Act are closer than ever to expiring on midnight June 1, you can be sure we're in for the fight of our lives on Sunday, May 31.

It's time for the Senate to allow these provisions to expire.

But you can guarantee the surveillance state won't go down without a fight.

Right now, compromises are being negotiated, and deals are being cut.

That's why Campaign for Liberty needs to raise an additional $50,000 to keep our hard-hitting "Stop the Surveillance State Banner Bomb" running.

These ads are crucial to C4L being able to continue reaching millions of Americans about this important fight, targeting Senators who should be with us, but refuse to Stand with Rand in defense of our civil liberties.

With the USA FREEDOM Act only needing three more votes invoke cloture (parliamentary speak for moving forward with a bill), you and I have a much heavier lift than the statists trying to extend these authorities.

To stop the Obama-approved USA FREEDOM Act from being rammed through Sunday night, the American people must be heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill!

That's why in addition to running the hard-hitting banner ads on Facebook and Google in targeted states, I need 50,000 Patriots to sign their "I Object!" Citizen's Objection to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and their U.S. Senators.

And in order to have this program all in place to maximize the effect, you and I need to do this by Saturday, May 30, at midnight.

Five days to raise $50,000 and gather 50,000 objections to illegal NSA spying!

I know that's a high bar to set.

But each time I've called upon the liberty movement to act in the past, concerned Americans like you have risen to the occasion.

Thanks to Campaign for Liberty members like you, our "Stop the Surveillance State Banner Bomb" has been one of our most effective defensive battles.

As late as Friday night, Campaign for Liberty was still creating and purchasing new banner ads, adding more Senators to our target list.

The results of our program speak for themselves.

Despite pulling every procedural trick he could think of, Majority Leader McConnell was stunned at not even being able to get a short-term extension of the expiring "Patriot" Act surveillance provisions.

Senator Paul's objections to even a one day extension sent shockwaves across the nation.

Imagine when they hear these objections LOUD and CLEAR from Americans like you across the country!

After saying for weeks the Senate would not go home until the "Patriot" Act was reauthorized, in the early hours of Saturday morning, the Senate adjourned until May 31.

This strongly suggests the statists believe they can get the votes needed to ram the USA FREEDOM Act into law at the last minute.

And it's up to you and I to stop them.

I know that's a lot to ask, but with such a short time to raise the funds necessary for this program I'm counting on everyone to step up.

Of course, if $30 is too much, then please consider a generous contribution of $20 or at least $10 .

These funds will go toward keeping our hard-hitting "Stop the Surveillance State Banner Bomb" running well in to Round 2.

Then after you've made your most generous contribution, I'm counting on the liberty movement to generate as much pressure as we can, which is why I hope you'll sign your "I Object!" Citizen's Objection to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and your U.S. Senators.

This is our best opportunity yet since October 2001 to begin rolling back the surveillance state and reclaim our lost liberties.

But five days is all you and I have to do it.

So after you've donated to the Banner Bomb and signed your Citizen's Objection, won't you please forward this on to your friends and family and encourage them to take action?

We cannot let this opportunity slip through our grasp!

For Liberty,

Ron Paul
Chairman

P.S. This past weekend, my son Rand took a stand for the American people by objecting to any extension of the so-called "Patriot" Act -- even for one day.

Now it's time for you and I to stand up and let Congress know you object as well.

Please make your most generous contribution of $30 , $20 , or at least $10 today to help Campaign for Liberty turn up the heat on the U.S. Senate.

Keep the pressure on to defeat the Patriot Act

From Rand2016:

What a week!

It all culminated last night around 1:30 AM when the U.S. Senate attempted to ram through legislation to keep the NSA's illegal domestic spy programs alive.

The first vote was on the House passed "reform" bill, which still allows bulk data collection under another method.

It failed, leaving spy-state apologists only one option - to ram through some type of short-term extension of the unconstitutional "Patriot" Act.

I stood up to the surveillance state every step of way.

I refused to back down - objecting to EVERY short-term extension attempt made last night.

As a result, the Senate was forced to adjourn WITHOUT reauthorizing the "Patriot" Act - meaning the beast is set to expire on May 31st.

When the Senate comes back into session next Sunday, they'll have only 8 hours to pass a bill before the "Patriot" Act expires.

That means if you and I can hold the spy state off for only 8 more hours, we'll relegate the NSA's illegal spy program to the trash bin of history where it belongs.

But to do that I'm going to need your help throughout next week.

The truth is, this fight is extremely important to our future.

The Founders understood Liberty cannot long survive without privacy.

Most conservatives know government registration of firearms would ultimately lead to gun confiscation.

It's no different with the rest of our lives.

Once government bureaucrats know every aspect of our lives - what we watch, what we buy, what we eat, where we worship - it won't be long until they try to run them "for our own good."

That's why it's critical you and I hold the spy state off for 8 more hours on May 31st.

My staff is preparing a few videos of exactly what happened last night on the Senate floor.

As soon as they're uploaded and ready, I'll be sure to send them to you.

Thanks to your support, you and I won a stunning victory this week. We proved if freedom-loving Americans stand and fight the Washington Machine - we can win!

But I'm afraid our job is not over yet.

So I hope I can count on you to continue to stand with me in this fight.

In Liberty,

Rand Paul

Section 215 update: keep the pressure up

From Demand Progress:

Tonight, we achieved what the conventional wisdom had deemed utterly unfathomable.

There are never any permanent victories in politics — and tonight’s is undoubtedly particularly fragile and must be cradled over days and weeks and months to come.

But the Senate just easily rejected attempts to extend expiring Patriot Act authorities.

No matter what comes next, tonight's vote against the extension of Section 215 represents a victory for democracy over totalitarianism; for open government over secret law; for reasonability over hysteria.

Demand Progress and our members have been at at the forefront of efforts to rein in bulk surveillance since just after our org’s inception four years ago. We have helped organize more than one million actions in opposition to mass spying — including encouraging and facilitating the activism of 250,000 people who support sunsetting Section 215 — over just the last ten days.

This most recent effort has been as part of a broad coalition of organizations, including the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, Color of Change, CREDO Action, Daily Kos, Democrats.com, Fight for the Future, Free Press, Left Action, The Nation, The Other 98%, RH Reality Check, RootsAction, and Win Without War.

Now, without further action by the Congress, the authority the NSA exploits to spy on most Americans’ phone calls will expire when the calendar turns to June 1st.

It’s still technically possible for Congress to extend the expiring provisions, but the opportunity grows narrower with each passing day and with each extra person who speaks out against doing so.

Please click here to tell your lawmakers to continue to block the reauthorization of Section 215.

We’ll undoubtedly be asking even more of you over the next week or so, as we approach the final hours before sunset. And after that, we'll ask for even more help! To more deeply constrain other forms of illegal and anti-democratic spying.

But for now, take the weekend to relish that you have been part of achieving what seemed impossible just weeks ago.

And then we'll press on.

Remind Congress to let Section 215 and other unconstitutional provisions retire by exhausting the time limit

From Demand Progress:

Americans were outraged to learn that the NSA has been spying on all of us — and a federal court ruled just a few days ago that this behavior is illegal.[1]

Yet this week Congress stands on the verge of reauthorizing some of the worst parts of the PATRIOT Act for another five years.

Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act — that's the authority that the NSA exploits to collect data about almost all of our phone calls — expires on June 1st. This week and next week Congress will take up legislation to extend it.

Investigations into the phone data collection program have made it clear that it does not make us safer. It's the project of a rogue surveillance agency that makes up its own rules and is never held accountable to the public. It's time to change that.

While mass surveillance doesn't reduce the threat of terrorism, it poses a severe, ongoing, unacceptable threat to our most cherished rights, the Constitution, and our democracy.

With key Patriot Act provisions about to expire, now's our best chance to rein in mass surveillance.

Just click here to tell Congress that it's time to put an end to mass spying on Americans — let the Patriot Act sunset!

Tell Congress not to reauthorize the spying provisions of the Patriot Act

From Rand2016:

Washington, D.C. doesn't need a massive, illegal and unconstitutional domestic spying program to "listen" to the American people.

They could do so right now.

They could heed the voices of millions of true patriots like you from all over the country and stop ANY reauthorization of the so-called "PATRIOT Act's" spying provisions.

With so-called "PATRIOT Act" spying provisions expiring on May 31st, I'm going to lead the fight against any attempt to extend this dangerous scheme and filibuster with everything I have.

I promise they will hear us. I promise they will not be able to just brush you and me aside.

If they're going to continue this unconstitutional madness, they're going to have to railroad me in front of millions of Americans who want our federal government to start obeying the law.

This is a defining moment for you and me.

The Big Government establishment of BOTH parties is furious.

They know last week's court decision declaring the NSA's metadata program ILLEGAL gave you and me a massive shot of momentum.

Instead of hauling in federal lawbreakers before Congress, they just want to paper over the NSA's domestic spying programs and keep the status quo.

I guess they want us to think the Founding Fathers would be just fine with the Big Brother surveillance state they imagine for this country!

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Founders included the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution because they understood that as soon as government bureaucrats know exactly how we live our lives, it won't be long until they try to run them.

Almost every conservative I know opposes national gun registration.

They know that's just the first step toward firearm confiscation.

These NSA spying programs effectively allow the government to register and catalogue everything we do!

I'm not backing down, but I must be able to count on you to stand with me.

The only way Washington, D.C. will ever change is if you and I keep fighting to change it.

Please sign your STOP SPYING ON INNOCENT AMERICANS petitionnow.

And if possible, please agree to your most generous contribution to help me reach out and mobilize even more Americans.

There's not much time before the May 19th deadline, so please act right away.

Thank you for all you do.

Support Senator Rand Paul in defeating the Patriot Act

From Campaign For Liberty:

Senator Rand Paul threw down the gauntlet today -- threatening to FILIBUSTER any attempt to reauthorize the section of the so-called "Patriot" Act that allows the NSA to continue it's metadata spying program.

If Senator Rand Paul filibusters the "Patriot" Act, he's going to need a lot of extra muscle from the grassroots.

And that's exactly what C4L's "Stop the Surveillance State Banner Bomb" is designed to do.

Can I count on you to chip in an emergency contribution of at least $10 to our Banner Bomb immediately?

Campaign for Liberty staff has created hard-hitting Facebook, Google, and Internet banner ads targeting fence-riding Senators.

When the vote comes to a head, C4L will flood the Internet with these hard-hitting ads in target states, generating maximum pressure on Senators to oppose the so-called "Patriot" Act.

But,we must raise $50,000 by midnight Thursday to prepare the program for launch.

So,won't you chip in an emergency contribution to our Banner Bomb immediately?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Tell Congress to rein in NSA spying

From Rand Paul 2016:

It's illegal.

That's what the New York-based 2nd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals unanimously said about the NSA's bulk collection of American phone records earlier this morning.

As I've stated since the very beginning, the NSA's program of collecting billions of innocent Americans' phone records, texts, emails, Internet searches, and social media posts is blatantly unconstitutional.

The Founders included the Fourth Amendment in the U.S. Constitution to protect Americans' right to privacy from government snooping.

But the court didn't even need to address the program's constitutionality!

Please join me in taking our country back by adding your name right away.

While spy-state apologists point to the so-called "PATRIOT Act" as the source for legal authorization, the court noted the bill does nothing of the sort!

The entire scheme is flat-out ILLEGAL. Period.

I'm sure this is going to make my colleagues' skin crawl in Congress.

They want nothing more than to keep the national security spy state growing until it tracks, traces and catalogues virtually every detail about every aspect of our lives.

To them, the safety Americans yearn for can only be had under the watchful eye of Big Brother.

Of course, I know the legal wrangling over the NSA's domestic spying programs is far from over.

But with a fight brewing over renewal of the "PATRIOT Act" in Congress, I suspect this court's decision will only embolden some of my colleagues to enshrine the NSA's ILLEGAL and UNCONSTITUTIONAL spying schemes in federal law.

That's why I'm counting on your IMMEDIATE action.

Won't you please sign your End Illegal NSA Spying petition immediately?

It's absolutely critical that you do so.

I'm going to fight them with everything I have -- if I can count on your help.

The Founders understood liberty cannot long survive without privacy.

Most conservatives know government registration of firearms would ultimately lead to gun confiscation.

It's no different with the rest of our lives.

Once government bureaucrats know every aspect of our lives -- what we watch, what we buy, what we eat, where we worship -- it won't be long until they try to run them "for our own good."

After all, the Washington machine believes bureaucrats know best.

They couldn't be more wrong.

Out-of-control government has gummed up the wheels of our economy, leading to only 0.2% growth in the first quarter of this year.

It's sunk our nation in $18.2 TRILLION in debt.

Meanwhile ObamaCare is driving up health insurance premiums, shuttering hospitals and worsening the quality of American healthcare.

I know they say, "trust us."

But how can we?

How can we after the IRS targeted conservative organizations for harassment and intimidation?

How can we after the Justice Department spied on reporters who dared criticize this administration?

Even this entire NSA spying scheme is another example of an out-of-control government bureaucracy breaking the law to get what it wants.

Yet, more and more voices are now admitting these unconstitutional programs don't even work.

If our government used the legal tools it has to target terrorists -- instead of sifting through innocent Americans' information -- we could fight terrorism and uphold the Constitution.

But it's going to take a President who is willing to take the oath to uphold the Constitution seriously.

I ran for office because I feared the Washington machine was out of control.

I believed it was time for true patriots -- not career politicians -- to stand up and stop the madness.

Today, I'm running for President because we need a true, uncompromising voice for liberty.

And I'm going to fight any attempt by my colleagues in Congress to disguise the NSA's unconstitutional spying programs with a veil of legality.

But I must be able to count on your support.

First, please sign your End Illegal NSA Spying petition right away.

Second, please chip in your most generous contribution.

I don't know what you can afford.

My hope is you will be extra-generous and chip in $250, $100 or even $50.

If that's too much though, please chip in $25 or even $10.

The fight over NSA spying on innocent Americans is about to heat up in Washington, D.C.

I'm ready.

But I'm counting on you to please stand with me.

In liberty,

Rand Paul

USA Freedom Act is a nice start but it doesn't go far enough without the Poe-Lofgren Amendment

From Demand Progress:

Yesterday, legislation was introduced in Congress that purports to rein in the NSA’s mass surveillance programs. It’s called the USA FREEDOM Act (as was a similar bill last year), and we don’t think that it goes far enough.

USA FREEDOM might do something very modest to constrain the NSA's behavior under the particular authorities that that agency has exploited to collect information about all of Americans’ phone calls.

But it also does some definitively terrible things, like giving companies immunity for facilitating government spying — and extending the very authority the NSA has manipulated to engage in mass surveillance.

Here's the thing: time is already running out — a committee vote on USA FREEDOM is expected TOMORROW. Can you make a call to your member of Congress and ask them to oppose USA FREEDOM because it doesn't go far enough — and to support key amendments to make it better?

Moreover, USA FREEDOM doesn’t address the fundamental problem: That the NSA is a rogue agency that operates under a cloak of darkness without meaningful oversight or checks on its power, and will lie and violate the law with impunity.

Even if the NSA’s ability to spy on us is constrained slightly, for now, we can expect it to do all in its power to warp the law — and torture the English language — to find justifications for ever more-expansive surveillance.

And because oversight is so limited, because Congressional leadership and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees are so captured by the surveillance agencies and contractors, we won’t even find out about the NSA’s new schemes until another whistleblower surfaces in 10 or 20 years.

To learn more about why we are opposing this bill, you can read our press release about USA FREEDOM here.

If you agree with our take on the USA FREEDOM Act, can you make a call to your member of Congress right now?

Yes, I'll make a call to my member of Congress.

No, I don't have time to make a call — but I'll click here and chip in $10 to help Demand Progress in this fight.

Thanks for standing strong.
