What a week!
It all culminated last night around 1:30 AM when the U.S. Senate attempted to ram through legislation to keep the NSA's illegal domestic spy programs alive.
The first vote was on the House passed "reform" bill, which still allows bulk data collection under another method.
It failed, leaving spy-state apologists only one option - to ram through some type of short-term extension of the unconstitutional "Patriot" Act.
I stood up to the surveillance state every step of way.
I refused to back down - objecting to EVERY short-term extension attempt made last night.
As a result, the Senate was forced to adjourn WITHOUT reauthorizing the "Patriot" Act - meaning the beast is set to expire on May 31st.
When the Senate comes back into session next Sunday, they'll have only 8 hours to pass a bill before the "Patriot" Act expires.
That means if you and I can hold the spy state off for only 8 more hours, we'll relegate the NSA's illegal spy program to the trash bin of history where it belongs.
But to do that I'm going to need your help throughout next week.
The truth is, this fight is extremely important to our future.
The Founders understood Liberty cannot long survive without privacy.
Most conservatives know government registration of firearms would ultimately lead to gun confiscation.
It's no different with the rest of our lives.
Once government bureaucrats know every aspect of our lives - what we watch, what we buy, what we eat, where we worship - it won't be long until they try to run them "for our own good."
That's why it's critical you and I hold the spy state off for 8 more hours on May 31st.

Tell Congress not to reauthorize the spying provisions of the Patriot Act

They could do so right now.
They could heed the voices of millions of true patriots like you from all over the country and stop ANY reauthorization of the so-called "PATRIOT Act's" spying provisions.
With so-called "PATRIOT Act" spying provisions expiring on May 31st, I'm going to lead the fight against any attempt to extend this dangerous scheme and filibuster with everything I have.
I promise they will hear us. I promise they will not be able to just brush you and me aside.
If they're going to continue this unconstitutional madness, they're going to have to railroad me in front of millions of Americans who want our federal government to start obeying the law.
This is a defining moment for you and me.
The Big Government establishment of BOTH parties is furious.
They know last week's court decision declaring the NSA's metadata program ILLEGAL gave you and me a massive shot of momentum.
Instead of hauling in federal lawbreakers before Congress, they just want to paper over the NSA's domestic spying programs and keep the status quo.
I guess they want us to think the Founding Fathers would be just fine with the Big Brother surveillance state they imagine for this country!
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The Founders included the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution because they understood that as soon as government bureaucrats know exactly how we live our lives, it won't be long until they try to run them.
Almost every conservative I know opposes national gun registration.
They know that's just the first step toward firearm confiscation.
These NSA spying programs effectively allow the government to register and catalogue everything we do!
I'm not backing down, but I must be able to count on you to stand with me.
The only way Washington, D.C. will ever change is if you and I keep fighting to change it.

Sign the petition to retire Mitch McConnell
Fellow Conservatives:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) used the "nuclear option" yesterday to eliminate the free and open debate of judicial nominations.
Harry Reid did this because he knows Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will let him get away with it.
Reid Nukes McConnellThe only way to deter a nuclear attack is to make it clear that the response will be equally devastating. Unfortunately, weakness is the only message Mitch McConnell has sent the Democrats on this issue.
He's been so ineffective that even his allies in the mainstream media are mocking him with political cartoons like the one shown here from Politico.

This is the fourth time Mitch McConnell has allowed Harry Reid to chip away at the freedom to debate in the Senate.
In 2011, Harry Reid used the threat of the "nuclear option" to prevent senators from forcing the public reading of legislation. Mitch McConnell supported the change while conservatives like Jim DeMint (R-SC) opposed it.
In January of this year, Harry Reid used the threat of the "nuclear option" again to shorten debate on legislation and to limit the number of amendments that can be offered by senators. Mitch McConnell supported this change too while conservatives like Ted Cruz (R-TX) opposed it.

Mitch McConnell backed down yet again, allowing every single nominee through, including Richard Cordray for the new Dodd-Frank agency, Gina McCarthy to head the EPA, Tom Perez as Secretary of Labor, two people of Obama's choosing to fill the vacant slots at the National Labor Relations Board, and Todd Jones to head ATF even though he was at the scene of the "Fast and Furious" scandal.

Each time Mitch McConnell capitulated, he said it would save the filibuster, but each time it encouraged Harry Reid to go even further. Now radical judicial nominees will sail through on a simple majority vote.
When asked by reporters yesterday what he would do to respond, Mitch McConnell said it wasn't time for "reprisal" but instead time to "be sad."
That's it? Republicans are just sad? If the roles were reversed, Harry Reid and the Democrats would have shut down the Senate by blocking all legislation and by objecting to all procedural requests.
Mitch McConnell must be replaced by conservative Matt Bevin in Kentucky's May 20 Republican primary election.
Matt Bevin (R-KY)We need leaders in Washington who have the courage to fight for our principles and to defend our freedoms.
Matt Bevin is not only a courageous conservative, he's also a more compelling candidate with a better chance of defeating the Democrat in this race.
Mitch McConnell knows how to play hard ball, but he only does it against conservatives. When it comes to dealing with liberals, he capitulates. He's helped them pass bailouts, debt limit increases, tax hikes, and funding for Obamacare.
If we want to change the leadership in Washington, we need to help Matt Bevin replace Mitch McConnell in Kentucky.

Tell Senate not to vote in favor of corrupt union representative
Tomorrow, union-label Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has scheduled a cloture vote on the nomination of corrupt union lawyer Richard Griffin to be the chief lawyer at the National Labor Relations Board.
With the vote just one day away, it's critical that concerned citizens like you turn up the heat on your U.S. Senators IMMEDIATELY.
My staff is faxing in tens of thousands of petitions opposing the confirmation of the radical union lawyer -- and more petitions keep coming in.
But I'm afraid that won't be enough.

Let me remind you what's at stake.
As you may recall, over the summer a handful of Republican Senators joined every Democrat to let Barack Obama pack the labor board with union militants literally and publicly chosen by AFL-CIO czar Richard Trumka.
The ONLY thing those Republicans got out of the "deal" was that Obama would not re-nominate Richard Griffin and Sharon Block to be members of the Board.
So what did Obama do?
He nominated Griffin for a different job at the Board -- the General Counsel -- the office in charge of prosecuting unfair labor practices by both unions and management.
It is hard to imagine a worse nominee.
Griffin is currently being investigated for attempting to cover up embezzlement at the International Union of Operating Engineers by firing employees who tried to expose the crime.
It's outrageous that someone under investigation for such a crime would even be considered for a position with all of the power associated with the General Counsel position.
Will the Republicans play dead again?
It's vital you e-mail your U.S. Senators, urging them to vote against cloture on Richard Griffin for General Counsel on the NLRB.
As I said, Harry Reid has already scheduled the cloture vote for tomorrow.
Grassroots pressure from concerned Americans like you, demanding a filibuster against Big Labor power grabs, stopped Harry Reid from shoving Card Check down our throats.
Once again, America needs strong and principled citizens like you to fight back and urge Senate Republicans not to cut another bad deal with Harry Reid.
As you probably know, the position of General Counsel comes with great power. When this power ends up in the hands of a Big Labor partisan, the results can be tyrannical.
And we don't have to look far for an example.
This type of tyranny has been painfully clear under the NLRB's current acting General Counsel, Lafe Solomon.
When Boeing decided to open a plant manufacturing its newest airplane in Right-to-Work South Carolina, it was Solomon that launched a lawsuit against the company for the sole reason the new plant was in a Right to Work state!
The NLRB's job is to be an impartial arbiter between unions and management. But Lafe Solomon, as a General Counsel with an axe to grind, abused that power to coerce Boeing -- and other companies through intimidation -- to open their factories in forced-unionism states!
Having Solomon as General Counsel has turned the NLRB into something it was never intended to be -- an activist agency for Big Labor.
Even the most basic background check is enough to show anyone that Richard Griffin would be even more biased.
Ten members of the local 501 IUOE in Los Angeles have claimed in a corruption lawsuit that Griffin was a constant participant in a conspiracy to manipulate Local 501 through a pattern of racketeering. The lawsuit specifically states that Griffin made threats in an attempt to cover up the embezzlement.
If Griffin is willing to illegally silence employees to protect Big Labor's unlawful practices, as he's accused of doing, how much worse will he be as the officer in charge of prosecuting unfair labor practices?
It's like making a known drug kingpin the head of the Drug Enforcement Agency.
The NLRB is supposed to be a quasi-judicial, independent agency, staffed with people who can interpret the law and deal with cases honestly and fairly.
Richard Griffin doesn't even come close to meeting that standard. Freedom, justice and basic common sense all dictate that your Senators oppose this nomination.
For all of these reasons it is vital you e-mail your U.S. Senators to vote against cloture on the nomination of Richard Griffin.

Rand's Filibuster Effort
The gun grabbers won the first battle in the war over our gun rights earlier today by voting 68-31 to defeat Rand Paul's filibuster of Harry Reid's motion to bring gun control to the floor.
Sixteen Republicans voted wrong, and two Democrats voted right.
Here are the 16 Republican Senators who chose to stand with Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Feinstein instead of Rand Paul:
Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Richard Burr (R-NC), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Corker (R-TN), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dean Heller (R-NV), John Hoeven (R-ND), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Kirk (R-IL), John McCain (R-AZ), Pat Toomey (R-PA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).
The two Democrats who voted right were Mark Begich (D-AK) and Mark Pryor (D-AR).
I've spoken to a few of my sources on Capitol Hill today.
I know we've been jokingly asking for weeks if Harry Reid is really the Speaker of the House, since he seems to drive the agenda . . .
As you know, House Speaker John Boehner has already passed three bills through the House by using Democrat majority votes.
That used to be considered a big "NO-NO" - even by weak-kneed Republican Speakers.
And Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor haven't said it won't happen again, which means that anything Harry Reid gets through the Senate will more than likely be gaveled through the House, as well.
So we need to really focus on the Senate over the next few days and try to defeat this monster there. If we can convince 9 of those 16 Republicans to switch, we can prevail.
Senate Strategy
The ball is in Harry Reid's court, so there's no way to know for sure exactly what his next move will be.
But I got a good hint at what he will do from my inside sources.
It looks like Harry Reid is going to offer three dangerous, anti-gun Amendments to S. 649.
The three Amendments I've heard about so far include:

But the reality is that this bill is even more dangerous than Dianne Feinstein's so-called "Assault Weapons Ban."
I've heard that Toomey's bill was actually written by Chuck Schumer himself.

This gives us more time to turn the heat up on the Senate.
Again, if Campaign for Liberty members and supporters can generate enough pressure to convince 9 of the 16 Senators who voted wrong today to Stand With Rand on final passage, we have a shot at stopping this monster in the Senate.
I understand things are tight right now with all the fights we're currently facing.

The gun grabbers won the first battle in the war over our gun rights earlier today by voting 68-31 to defeat Rand Paul's filibuster of Harry Reid's motion to bring gun control to the floor.
Sixteen Republicans voted wrong, and two Democrats voted right.
Here are the 16 Republican Senators who chose to stand with Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Feinstein instead of Rand Paul:
Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Richard Burr (R-NC), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Corker (R-TN), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dean Heller (R-NV), John Hoeven (R-ND), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Kirk (R-IL), John McCain (R-AZ), Pat Toomey (R-PA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).
The two Democrats who voted right were Mark Begich (D-AK) and Mark Pryor (D-AR).
I've spoken to a few of my sources on Capitol Hill today.
I know we've been jokingly asking for weeks if Harry Reid is really the Speaker of the House, since he seems to drive the agenda . . .
As you know, House Speaker John Boehner has already passed three bills through the House by using Democrat majority votes.
That used to be considered a big "NO-NO" - even by weak-kneed Republican Speakers.
And Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor haven't said it won't happen again, which means that anything Harry Reid gets through the Senate will more than likely be gaveled through the House, as well.
So we need to really focus on the Senate over the next few days and try to defeat this monster there. If we can convince 9 of those 16 Republicans to switch, we can prevail.
The ball is in Harry Reid's court, so there's no way to know for sure exactly what his next move will be.
But I got a good hint at what he will do from my inside sources.
It looks like Harry Reid is going to offer three dangerous, anti-gun Amendments to S. 649.
The three Amendments I've heard about so far include:

McCain is a senile old moron
John McCain attacks Rand Paul on filibuster, drones saying he needs to ‘calm down’
U.S. Sen. John McCain slammed fellow Republican Rand Paul on the Senate floor Thursday morning for his 13-hour filibuster to block John Brennan’s confirmation as CIA Director.
“Calm down, Senator,” McCain said, in an address to Paul. “The U.S. government cannot randomly target U.S. citizens.”
In his filibuster Wednesday, Paul criticized the White House over its drone policies, and for refusing to rule out military strikes against U.S. citizens on American soil.
McCain said Thursday that Paul’s warnings that the U.S. could target “Jane Fonda” or “people in cafes” bring the debate into the “realm of the ridiculous.”
“If Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids,” McCain said, adding: “I don’t think what happened yesterday is helpful to the American people.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) echoed these criticisms, adding that he was “disappointed” in the 13 Republican Senators who supported Paul’s filibuster last night. Graham scoffed at Paul’s question about whether Obama thinks he has the authority to kill a noncombatant American citizen on U.S. soil.
“I find the question offensive,” Graham said Thursday on the Senate floor. “As much I disagree with President Obama and as much as I support past presidents, I do not believe that question deserves an answer.” Paul’s question, the South Carolina Republican said, “cheapens the debate.”
Graham later told reporters that he will vote to confirm Brennan as a result of the filibuster

I am so sick of hearing about John McCain,that senile old bastard from Arizona. He is a fucking STATIST in all caps. Wherever the forces of liberty go to defend civil liberties and freedoms McCain is there to counter us and oppose us,time and time again. He has never once stood on the side of liberty in fact he is our biggest opponent on the Republican side of the aisle. McCain's disdain for us "liberty kids" is obvious and his understanding of how the government is ran is very limited or he under estimates everybody else. If you received a watered down third rate education by a modern union teacher who couldn't care less and cannot be fired due to tenure then maybe you'll believe McCain. On the other hand if you received a quality education then you know McCain is full of shit. The government is "of the people,for the people and by the people". The people run the government. That is why McCain must run to keep his job and if he loses he goes back to Arizona to stay,which sounds great to me. If there were no elections he would just meet someone in a office to discuss performance reviews. Sounds like McCain needs to either take a course in civics or get off our Libertarian backs.
Senator Lindsey Graham has made good decisions in the past. His standing up to VAWA is admirable but he's got it wrong this time. There can be some positive changes. Unfortunately a lot of Republicans want to be liked by the liberal media and to do so they will sell out core conservative values if they think it will gain them favorable coverage. Unfortunately for them the liberal media hates them and will do anything against them. Senator Graham,if you are reading this or hear about it that dinner with Obama may have been the most expensive meal yet. I don't believe the voters of South Carolina sent you to Washington DC to clink glasses with Obama. I'm sure when they heard about it they were probably very upset. If Obama and the Democrats can accept the National Review hates their guts then the Republicans have to accept the New York Times hates their guts. If you are a Libertarian and a resident of Arizona or South Carolina let McCain and Graham know where you stand.

Defend the Constituion

This Wednesday, as you know, I stood for 13 hours filibustering Senate business to defend our Constitution.
I could not just sit on the sidelines and allow the Obama Administration to openly disregard the Constitution by claiming the authority to use drones strikes to kill American citizens on American soil without due process.
Thanks to your support, the Obama Administration caved and finally gave me the answer I was asking for in writing.
You and I and millions of Americans stood together to send a clear message to the Obama Administration: We will not tolerate the trampling of our Constitution!

Tell your Senators to defend the filibuster by opposing Harry Reid
