- Create a Nationwide Gun Registration -- aka “Universal Background Checks”. . . to hand Government Goons the names and firearms of every single gun owner in the country.

The Dems now control the House just as the GOP controls the Senate. With Democratic leadership the House is going to go a different direction than the GOP House did. Mexico has some of the very harshest gun control laws on the books. How has that worked to the advantage of the average Mexican citizen ? It hasn't. There are only two armed factions in Mexico. The federales and local law enforcement along with other government agents on one side (all corrupt)and the armed drug cartels and other criminal organizations on the other. The people are defenseless and at the mercy of a corrupt government and/or the criminal gangs. Is that what you want for America ? If so you are alone. Since this list is secret, it would leave citizens with effectively zero legal recourse if targeted by a rogue Attorney General.

Worse, I'm afraid it's no accident.

I'm afraid -- during this critical election year -- members of BOTH parties are anxious to tell the anti-gun national media they "did something" about gun violence and terrorism all at the same time.

Even as you and I see the Middle East burning under ISIS, BOTH parties will never admit the horrific failure of their failed policies.

Instead, their answer is to come after even more of our freedom once again!

Frankly, I'm sick of watching Washington, D.C., blame the liberty of law-abiding Americans for their own Big Government failures.

And it makes my stomach churn to imagine what could happen if our federal government were ever to gain the illicit power of a federal "No-Gun" list.

Any American an administration identifies as a "problem citizen" could easily become a secret target.

That could be just because the government doesn't like the political candidates you support, the church you attend, or the limited government beliefs you hold.

Remember that Missouri Information and Analysis Center (MIAC) document -- an affiliate of the Department of Homeland Security -- that warned about citizens who displayed the Gadsden flag or supported my candidacy for President?

Well, just last year, our federal government issued a warning that stated that these citizens pose a threat "equal to -- and in some cases greater than -- the threat from foreign Islamic terror groups, such as ISIS, that garner more public attention."

Already, the federal "No-Fly List" is infamous for mistakenly including the names of Members of Congress, conservative editorialists, folk musicians, Department of Homeland Security employees and even toddlers.

That's bad enough.

But you and I both know that should our federal government gain this power, the "NO GUN LIST" would be used to target anyone who dares stand up to the statists' authoritarian dreams for the country!

With support of key members of BOTH parties, President Obama could just get the votes he needs to RAM this gun control scheme into law!

Take the pen from Obama's hand

Barack Obama seems to have forgotten that he's a President - NOT A KING!

Instead of fulfilling his oath to “faithfully uphold the laws of the land,” he's using his pen to create new laws via executive order.

He's used his pen to unilaterally rewrite and delay sections of ObamaCare in a desperate attempt to shield his congressional cronies from public backlash over the disastrous law’s harmful effects.

He's used his pen to impose new restrictions on your constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms.

He's used his pen to impose new job-killing regulations on small businesses and American workers.

He’s even used his pen to implement (through executive branch regulations) legislation that was rejected by the American people and Congress.

Remember Cap and Trade (more accurately called Cap and Tax) – President Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s tax-increasing, job-destroying, “environmental protection” legislation?

In 2007, then-Speaker Pelosi rammed this bill through the House, but the public outcry was so great that Harry Reid never brought it to the Senate floor for a vote.

The backlash against Cap and Tax played a major role in the tidal wave of the 2010 elections that swept Nancy Pelosi out of the Speaker’s Chair.

Yet President Obama recently announced new “climate change” regulations, unilaterally imposing many of the key features of the rejected “Cap and Tax” legislation!

President Obama is also preparing to use the crisis at the border to issue executive orders implementing parts of the immigration “reform” bill that the Senate passed last year - which the House refused to pass.

President Obama is doing all this because he knows - thanks in large part to active pro-liberty citizens like you - he cannot get Cap and Tax, gun control, and the rest of his Big Government agenda through Congress.

So he's imposing his agenda on his own.

Campaign for Liberty is fighting back to rein in President Obama and bring more attention to what’s happening by pressing Congress to pass Senator Rand Paul’s “Separation of Powers Restoration and Second Amendment Protection Act,” S. 82/H.R. 410.

Senator Paul’s bill states that any executive order that exceeds the President’s constitutional authority is null and void.

As important as protecting the Second Amendment, repealing ObamaCare, and stopping President Obama from imposing new regulations on the struggling American economy are, there are even bigger issues at stake.

President Obama’s use of executive orders to create laws strikes right at the heart of America’s constitutional system of checks and balances.

Creating law is the function of the legislative branch.

The Founders separated the power to enforce laws from the power to create laws because they recognized that putting both in the same hands was a recipe for tyranny.

Defeat Harry Reid's attempt take our guns

Harry Reid tried to pull one of the oldest tricks in Washington.

Recently, a few red state Democrats facing tough re-elections co-sponsored a "Sportsmen's Bill."

But this so-called pro-gun bill was nothing of the sort.

It was merely a prop for Democrats in pro-gun states to wave around to promote their Second Amendment credentials.

So I proposed a number of amendments that would put some teeth into this empty vessel and transform it into true pro-gun legislation.

My amendments to lift gun control in the District of Columbia would have:



<< Repealed the registration requirement.




<< Ended the ban on semi-automatic rifles and so-called "high capacity magazines."




<< Extended the right to carry firearms outside residents' homes and ended the ban on carrying firearms on federal lands in D.C.




But rather than pass real pro-gun legislation, the Senate spiked this "Sportsmen's Bill."



The signal from this vote was broadcast loud and clear: no gun rights legislation in Harry Reid's Senate.



He's only interested in legislative smoke-and-mirrors to preserve the anti-gun majority he presides over.



If you and I are going to advance the cause of Second Amendment rights, we're going to have to change Senate leadership.

I know you’ve heard the old saying, “money talks.”

Well, I’ve been in Washington, D.C. long enough to tell you plenty of people here have heard it too!

That’s why this March 31st has been circled on their calendars for weeks now.

You see, that is the End of Quarter Fundraising Deadline.

Immediately following, I must turn in my financial report for the last quarter.

And I can promise you, all eyes will be on me during that critical time so that's why I've set a goal of raising $150,000 by the reporting deadline.

Mainstream media types and Washington, D.C. insiders know a big fundraising quarter for me will send a loud-and-clear message to President Obama and Big Government politicians in BOTH parties that the American people are insisting on a return to limited government and constitutional principles.

I know it’s hard to look at Washington, D.C. and be optimistic about anything when we’re constantly barraged with news about:

Besides the economic costs our country is bearing because of our national debt, I fear we’re leaving future generations of Americans – our kids and grandkids – with nothing but fewer freedoms and less opportunity.

Only in Washington is this irresponsible behavior viewed as “consensus.”

I won’t stand for that and I’m determined to fight.

Yesterday, anti-gun California Senator Dianne Feinstein strode to the microphone demanding her colleagues pass a gun control bill -- immediately -- specifically her beloved “assault weapons ban.”

Powerful House Democrat Steny Hoyer urged his colleagues to “renew” the push in the House and Senate for gun control legislation.

Hordes of gun control lobbyists have spread out on Capitol Hill today looking for new Republican and Democrat support for gun control legislation.

But facts don’t matter to the gun-grabbers . . .

Whenever a tragedy -- a revolting grave crime -- is committed, gun-grabbers ALWAYS rush to "cash in."

Always.

New media now report that the shooter was armed with a shotgun, not an “AR-15” that Feinstein wants banned and turned in by the millions of Americans who own them for self-defense.

Of course you and I both know that no specific type of gun commits a crime. Criminals and thugs do.

Others in Washington, DC, and in state capitols across the country are banging the drums for more “Gun Free Zones,” ignoring the fact that yesterday’s shootings occurred in a secure government facility in a city where guns are banned.

“Gun Free Zone” signs do not protect anyone from violent madmen.

All these signs do is guarantee killers never face anyone who can defend his or herself.

And despite the fact that the shooter had a secret government security clearance, the gun-grabbers are demanding a renewed push in the U.S. Senate for expanded federal background checks on all Americans (national gun registry).

So with anti-gun fervor raging in the national media and anti-gunners demanding gun control right now, gun-grabbers are determined to strike while the iron is hot.

You and I both know what’s at stake here . . .

Expanded or Universal “background checks” (NATIONAL GUN REGISTRATION) remains at the top of the gun-grabbers’ priority list.

After all, the ability to CONFISCATE firearms from the American people -- the gun-grabbers’ ultimate goal -- rests on knowing who owns which guns.

That’s the real purpose of these “background checks.”

Without a database of gun owners, this scheme would be largely unenforceable. There would simply be no way for our federal government to know if any citizen had broken the law.

These “background checks” were a key part of the so-called Toomey-Manchin “compromise” and is central to the newly-drafted U.N. “Small Arms Treaty,” which could come before the Senate as early as this fall.

But there’s another threat out there that I’m afraid is growing by the day.

That’s so-called “Mental Health Restrictions,” which is really code for handing federal bureaucrats the ability to STRIP law-abiding gun owners of their Second Amendment rights on a whim without trial or due process.

And the gun-grabbers believe the groundwork has already been laid to classify as many Americans as possible as mentally unstable, including:

>>> News reports that nearly 30% of the nearly 900,000 Iraq and Afghanistan War vets treated by the Department of Veterans Affairs have been diagnosed with PTSD! This is in addition to the hundreds of thousands of vets who have already been “rewarded” for serving their country with the loss of their gun rights;

>>> New estimates by the World Health Organization that roughly one in five American youngsters will have some sort of mental health problems every year;

>>> Estimates by U.S. Surgeon General Steven Galson that 46.4% of Americans experience some sort of mental illness during their lives!

To the gun-grabbers, disarming up to 50% of the American population within a year or two’s time by declaring them “crazy” without ever going through a trial sounds like a dream come true!

Analysis: Controversies give Obama new governing headaches

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama learned on Monday what can happen to presidents caught up in allegations of scandal: they have to address them instead of anything else. It happened when the president had to interrupt his news conference with Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain to answer questions about the widening investigation into the Benghazi attacks in Libya and the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of Tea Party and other conservative groups.

By the end of the day he was facing a third major problem when the Associated Press said the Department of Justice had secretly seized some of its reporters' phone records last year. It is all leading to comparisons with the second term of President Bill Clinton, in which his agenda was severely disrupted by the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Obama, unlike Clinton, has not been accused of personal misconduct. But his ability to steer the Washington "conversation" could be compromised.

"I think the IRS scandal comes at a very inopportune time for the president and the Democratic agenda," said Sarah Binder, a George Washington University scholar of Congress. "The challenge for Obama and the Democrats in the coming weeks and months will be to keep the public's attention focused on Obama's policy goals when Republicans and the media will be focused on scandal."

The problems for Obama and Democrats may be worsened as well by the nature of the IRS behavior: targeting groups for extra scrutiny based on their political leanings reinforces the notion of big government pursuing citizens exercising constitutional rights. It could feed into gun rights activists' worries about slippery slopes that lead to gun confiscation or gun-owner registries, said one Republican Senate aide, or fears of government "takeovers" of healthcare.

Ron Bonjean, a veteran Republican aide on Capitol Hill who is now a consultant, said even though the IRS is an independent agency, the White House can expect to be blamed by the public for any wrongdoing by it. "The public sees the IRS as part of the federal government, which the White House controls," Bonjean said.

The same might be said of the news that broke Monday that the Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for the Associated Press.

'WAY OFF MESSAGE'

The potential risk is high for Obama and the Democrats.

The Democratic-controlled Senate is considering a comprehensive bipartisan immigration bill that already faces a rough road in the Republican-controlled House, where suspicion of the Obama administration runs highest. "The political fallout will be very damaging for the administration," said Bonjean.

"This will be another issue that takes the administration way off message," he said. "There's no way they can punch through with a positive agenda while investigations of the IRS are going on." The IRS scandal could easily spill over into the 2014 mid-term election year.

A week ago, Obama was confronting a single investigative proceeding on Capitol Hill on the subject of the deadly attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, last September. It was attracting relatively little public attention outside conservative circles, and he could dismiss as partisan because only Republicans were pushing it. On Monday he confronted the prospect of multiple probes, with those into the IRS backed by Obama's Democratic allies in Congress as Democrats moved quickly to show they were as concerned as Republicans about alleged IRS abuses.

On top of that, the AP is assessing options for legal action in response to the government's actions, said David Schulz, an attorney representing the AP.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the White House was not involved in the decision to seize the AP records.

The administration's chief opponent in Congress of late -Representative Darrell Issa of California - threatened to add the AP issue to the list of things he is already probing, which include Benghazi and the IRS scandal. Even without charges of personal misconduct, "staying coherent" in pursuit of an agenda is much more challenging for a president than it was in the Clinton years, said one of his former press secretaries, Mike McCurry.

"The environment for communications is so much more complicated now because you have this voracious social media environment in which everything is magnified," he said. "We didn't have that. You could have congressional inquiries and scandals but you could calibrate a little bit and keep an agenda in play."

Rand's Filibuster Effort

The gun grabbers won the first battle in the war over our gun rights earlier today by voting 68-31 to defeat Rand Paul's filibuster of Harry Reid's motion to bring gun control to the floor.

Sixteen Republicans voted wrong, and two Democrats voted right.

Here are the 16 Republican Senators who chose to stand with Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Feinstein instead of Rand Paul:

Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Richard Burr (R-NC), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Tom Coburn (R-OK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Corker (R-TN), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Dean Heller (R-NV), John Hoeven (R-ND), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Kirk (R-IL), John McCain (R-AZ), Pat Toomey (R-PA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

The two Democrats who voted right were Mark Begich (D-AK) and Mark Pryor (D-AR).

I've spoken to a few of my sources on Capitol Hill today.

I know we've been jokingly asking for weeks if Harry Reid is really the Speaker of the House, since he seems to drive the agenda . . .

As you know, House Speaker John Boehner has already passed three bills through the House by using Democrat majority votes.

That used to be considered a big "NO-NO" - even by weak-kneed Republican Speakers.

And Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor haven't said it won't happen again, which means that anything Harry Reid gets through the Senate will more than likely be gaveled through the House, as well.

So we need to really focus on the Senate over the next few days and try to defeat this monster there. If we can convince 9 of those 16 Republicans to switch, we can prevail.

Senate Strategy

The ball is in Harry Reid's court, so there's no way to know for sure exactly what his next move will be.

But I got a good hint at what he will do from my inside sources.

It looks like Harry Reid is going to offer three dangerous, anti-gun Amendments to S. 649.

The three Amendments I've heard about so far include:

Toomey-Schumer Gun Control Bill

Republican Senator Pat "Benedict" Toomey (R-PA) teamed up with Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and introduced a so-called "compromise" gun control bill.

But the reality is that this bill is even more dangerous than Dianne Feinstein's so-called "Assault Weapons Ban."

I've heard that Toomey's bill was actually written by Chuck Schumer himself.

Senator Toomey's bill would ban virtually all private gun sales, restrict the Second Amendment freedoms of travelers, strip folks who seek mental health of their gun rights, undermine state sovereignty, and set the stage for full-scale national gun registration.

The bill is so bad it's even supported by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Illegal Guns."

The Feinstein Gun Ban

This legislation, which would target rifles, shotguns, and even handguns, is also far from dead.

President Obama and Harry Reid are determined to push the envelope. With Republicans already demonstrating their willingness to roll over, I would prepare for the worst.

"High-Capacity" Magazine Restrictions

This Amendment would ban magazines that hold over a certain number of bullets.

Those are the three anti-gun Amendments I'm hearing about so far.

Grassroots Mobilization Effort to Defeat Gun Control

The good news is, even though we lost the first battle earlier today, the war is not over.

Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee are going to drag out the debate as long as possible, and they have also vowed to filibuster Reid's vote on final passage of the bill.

This gives us more time to turn the heat up on the Senate.

Again, if Campaign for Liberty members and supporters can generate enough pressure to convince 9 of the 16 Senators who voted wrong today to Stand With Rand on final passage, we have a shot at stopping this monster in the Senate.

I understand things are tight right now with all the fights we're currently facing.

But I recommend C4L spend every penny it can afford to mobilize as many folks as possible to turn up the heat on their Senators to Stand With Rand.

Flood the Senate with tens of thousands of "Stand With Rand" Petitions" and phone calls in opposition to Harry Reid's gun control scheme.

If enough folks make their voices heard, we can defeat Barack Obama's gun control agenda.

It's critically important that Campaign for Liberty members and supporters turn up the heat on the 16 Republican Senators who voted against Rand's filibuster and any Democrat who has to face their constituents soon, while urging the two Democrats who voted right to stay the course.

The vital point to remember is that this is only round one. There's a strong temptation to throw in the towel in disgust at the 16's sellout today, but this is precisely when we need to double down.

If they think the pressure is off because one cloture vote is finished, then they really don't know anything about us.

A setback but not a loss

This is how the game is played in Washington, D.C.

An example would be a mental health protection for veterans.

Another (bad) idea is a national concealed-carry reciprocity law, handing our federal government control over state concealed-carry laws.

President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder want more say over who can’t buy guns.

And they want more names of those who do, so they can set the stage for what every gun owner fears . . .
