As Campaign for Liberty gets underway with our programs this year, I wanted to let you know the results of our 2014 Campaign for Liberty Membership Ballot.
Nearly 70% of our members chose “fight everywhere” as their top priority for C4L in 2014!
Single issues followed, ranked in the order of passing Audit the Fed, repealing ObamaCare’s individual mandate, protecting our Fourth Amendment rights, fighting back in 2014, and stopping the National ID database.
With our members’ input - and with so many pressing challenges to our liberties - my staff and I are planning to fight harder than ever this year on all fronts!
Here's a brief summary of some of our plans to advance the issues of importance to you and other Campaign for Liberty members:
1.) Audit the Fed: Campaign for Liberty made great progress on our efforts to convince Harry Reid to hold a roll call vote on Audit the Fed (H.R. 24/S. 209) in 2013. Now we are working to capitalize on those gains.
In addition to getting ready to launch a major grassroots mobilization effort, Campaign for Liberty staffers will soon be conducting personal meetings on Capitol Hill with House and Senate members who have not yet cosponsored Audit the Fed.
Our staffers will deliver your Audit the Fed petitions and explain to Hill offices the importance of opening up the Fed's books so Congress - and the American people - can finally learn the truth about the Fed's operations.
Campaign for Liberty is also planning to host a Capitol Hill staff briefing on Audit the Fed later this year featuring leading experts in monetary policy and Federal Reserve transparency.
Our goal is to get a majority of the House and Senate signed on as cosponsors and to finally force Harry Reid to side with nearly 75% of the American people by holding a vote on Audit the Fed.
2.) Repeal ObamaCare: Campaign for Liberty will take advantage of ObamaCare's growing unpopularity by launching an effort to repeal the individual mandate, which forces almost every American to purchase a government-approved health insurance policy.
The individual mandate is both ObamaCare’s foundation and, since it is the most unpopular part of the law, Achilles’ heel.
Although the House Republican leadership has indicated they do not wish to wage a fight against ObamaCare this year, I believe if we show them sufficient grassroots support, they will advance legislation repealing the individual mandate, forcing Harry Reid to choose between protecting an unpopular program or helping his Senate colleagues who are bearing the brunt of the ObamaCare backlash.
3.) Protect Our Fourth Amendment Rights: Following last year's revelations that the NSA was collecting mass amounts of data on average Americans, Campaign for Liberty members turned up the heat on the House in support of Justin Amash's amendment to the Defense appropriations bill reining in the NSA. Thanks to your efforts, the amendment came within 12 votes of passing!
This year, we will devote even more efforts to stopping the federal government from “monitoring" your email, phone, and Internet activities.
Campaign for Liberty will be working with Representative Amash, Senator Paul, and other pro-Fourth Amendment Senators and Representatives to pass legislation ending warrantless wiretapping, mass surveillance, and other infringements on your Fourth Amendment rights.
4.) Fight Back in 2014: Campaign for Liberty is already in the process of running a robust Federal Candidate Survey program this year so we can let pro-liberty Americans know where candidates stand on important issues – and hold our elected officials accountable to their word.
In addition to our Federal Candidate Survey, state C4L activists are also surveying state officials to get them on the record on critical local-level issues.
5.) Defeat the National ID Database: Last year, Campaign for Liberty and our members were on the frontlines in the fight to stop the statists’ attempt to implement a National ID system.
When GOP leadership announced last week that mandatory E-Verify would be a major component of their so-called “immigration reform” efforts, we again alerted our members.
A few days ago, Speaker Boehner, facing intense backlash regarding his proposals, reversed course and announced the House would not likely consider any immigration legislation this year.
Campaign for Liberty will watch this situation closely and will be ready to again mobilize grassroots Americans against the National ID if the Speaker has a change of heart.

Sign the directive to defeat intrusive national ID

But what they're not telling us is this is nothing more than a buzzword meant to trick Americans into thinking that Congress is finally cowing to their wishes and sealing our southern border.
But in reality, it means something far different.
The “security” members of BOTH parties in the U.S. House want doesn’t target any U.S. border. . .
Instead, it takes yet another step toward the creation of an all-out police state within them.
I’m afraid that’s exactly what you and I could end up with should Congress finally ram this massive National ID scheme into law.

National ID comes up again

National ID goes to the House

It’s been just over a year since the U.S. Supreme Court signed off on the 2,700-page “ObamaCare” monstrosity as somehow “constitutional.”
Now, statists in BOTH parties in Congress are working hard to RAM another 1,200-page horror down our throats.
I’m not going to mince words here.
After the Senate’s passage of a massive new National ID database plan under the guise of so-called “Immigration Reform” last week, time is running out to STOP this massive federal power grab.
So I’m counting on you to sign your “NO DATABASE” Directive TODAY.
And if you possibly can, I hope you’ll also agree to forward the Directive to as many friends and family members as possible.
You see, as Congress breaks for its July 4 recess, this may be our final chance to mobilize the kind of public opposition it will take to defeat this bill.

Oppose the Immigration Bill
This week, the United States Senate will be voting to end debate on the so-called “Immigration Reform” Bill and proceed to final passage.
With the bill now over 1,200 pages, I don't know a single senator who's read every word.
But what you and I can tell about the bill is bad enough.

As I’ve told you before, virtually every American understands that ours is a country of immigrants who came because America has long been known as the "land of opportunity."

The American people simply want to be able to trust that our borders are finally protected – and ensure that Congress verifies the job gets done.
But Congress is shirking its duty once again, handing responsibility to the President to ensure our borders are secure and offering only fig leaf solutions.

And if you don't get one, you'd be barred from working legally.
But how long before you'd be required to show your National ID card to rent a house, open a bank account or even buy groceries?
How long before you'd be required to be checked against the Department of Homeland Security's National Database before you could buy a firearm?
You and I have already seen President Obama's IRS vastly abuse their power over American citizens.

*** The Fast and Furious scandal where the Obama administration just looked the other way while bloodthirsty Mexican drug gangs funneled arms across the border resulting in the death of Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry.
Over the past few months, you and I have seen more full frontal assaults on our gun rights than at any time in a generation.
NAGR members have stood up and defeated each and every one so far.

The triple threat in Congress
They're baaa-aaaack.

After a week of leaving us alone, Congress is back, and their docket is chock full of radical assaults on our liberties.

But now, you and I are learning House Republican Leadership could take up the issue even before the Senate acts.
*** NATIONAL INTERNET TAX MANDATE.
If passed, the National Internet Tax Mandate would raise taxes on all Americans as a state sales tax on all goods purchased online would be implemented.
Tax collectors in one state would now be free to pursue retailers across state lines, so if customers in New York make purchases from an online retailer in Texas, that retailer must collect New York's exorbitant sales taxes and send them to New York's tax collection agencies.
Worse, after the bill overwhelmingly passed the Senate, I'm already getting word that some in the GOP leadership will be more than happy to help this Obama-backed bill sail into law.
You and I have to mobilize NOW to stop this madness.

Tell Congress you hate the national ID scheme
His administration has been caught red-handed spying on Associated Press reporters.
The IRS is just now admitting to spying on Tea Party and conservative groups -- and accused of exacting political revenge on others. Now you and I see, buried deep within the 800-plus pages of the so-called "Immigration Reform" Bill, a new biometric National ID scheme to open the door to more government intrusion the lives of every American . . .
You and I are supposed to believe neither the Obama administration nor career Washington, D.C. bureaucrats will abuse the massive new powers they crave.
But if recent history teaches us anything, it's that they will. That's why I'm counting on you to fill out your No National ID Petition IMMEDIATELY.
You see, President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have already announced "Immigration Reform" could be brought to the U.S. Senate floor in just a matter of weeks. As I've said, without border security, any deal is dead on arrival. But another -- and perhaps even more dangerous -- deal-breaker is the institution of a new National ID card.
Under the National ID scheme, the Department of Homeland Security would create a massive new photo database to include names, ages, and Social Security numbers of every single American. The database would be tied to a biometric National ID card to include information like fingerprints and facial and retinal scans.
Before hiring, employers would be required to check the names against the federal database. And if you don't get one, you'd be barred from working legally.
Just the federal government knowing every time an American citizen applies for a job is bad enough. How long before you'd be required to show your National ID card to rent a house, open a bank account or even buy groceries? How long before you'd be required to be checked against the Department of Homeland Security's National Database before you could buy a firearm?
Such a scheme is only the beginning of Washington, D.C. bureaucrats watching and cataloguing our every move. Once armed with the knowledge of what we eat, what we drink, what we read, what we look at on the Internet and what we buy, how long until federal bureaucrats start making decisions "for our own good?"

It is often said, "No man's life, liberty, or fortune is safe while our legislature is in session."
Next week, the Senate comes back in session after a brief one-week recess, so buckle up.
The schemes are coming fast and furious, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is trying to finish up ramming a slew of power grabs through the Senate before Congress' extended August recess. The fights over the National Internet Tax and gun control haven't gone anywhere.
But President Obama, Harry Reid, and the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" also want to get their National ID/"Immigration Reform" bill fast-tracked, knowing that time has helped work to defeat these schemes in the past. As soon as the Senate comes back next week, the fight could begin.
I am not exaggerating at all when I say this is the absolute WORST National ID scheme we've seen to date.
So it's absolutely vital C4L members spring into action to stop this madness NOW.
If we're going to win this fight - especially after all the other battles we've taken on in recent weeks - we simply must start raising resources and generating No National ID Petitions IMMEDIATELY.
We're not going to have much time.
The Gang of Eight's Scheme
"Control the borders." "Path to citizenship." "Amnesty."
There's no end to the buzzwords being tossed around. And this fight is about to get white hot!
But all of the sloganeering is just designed to conceal all the madness contained within this 844-page monstrosity.
In fact, the problems are almost too many to list.
Besides dramatically increasing federal spending, this bill mandates every American carry a federally issued National ID card with their photo.
It also creates a new federal database with biometric information on every American.
If passed, the bill would:
*** Require a new National ID card based on Social Security cards and a national database containing biometric identification information, such as fingerprints, retinal scans, or scans of veins on the back of hands, which could easily be used for government tracking.
*** The card would be required for all U.S. workers regardless of place of birth, making it illegal for anyone to hold a job in the United States who doesn't obtain the ID card;
*** All employers would be required to purchase an ID scanner to verify the ID cards by making sure the information on the card matches the information in the federal database.
So every time any citizen applies for a job, the government would know.
You can bet it's only a matter of time until "ID scans" will be required to travel, attend public events, or make even routine purchases.
By far, the most dangerous part is the biometric tracking technology, which would allow federal bureaucrats to track our every move.
In fact, it sends shivers down my spine just reading through all the new mandates and requirements.
This is exactly the type of battle that often decides whether a country remains free or continues down a slide toward tyranny.
Once government bureaucrats know exactly how we live our lives, it won't be long until they try to run them.

The Politics
The National ID card is something the establishment of BOTH parties have wanted for years - and they think they finally have the votes to get it done.
Reading through the names of the top four leaders of the Gang of Eight is enough to make you feel queasy.
John McCain. Lindsey Graham. Chuck Schumer. Dick Durbin.
These senators, knowing they have absolutely ZERO street cred with pro-limited government grassroots, have tapped Senator Marco Rubio to deliver their message.
Senator Rubio, of course, has presidential ambitions.
He's no doubt observed that the last two nominees of the Republican Party - Mitt Romney and John McCain - carved a path to the GOP nomination by consistently stabbing its grassroots' supporters in the back.
Their strategy is to flat-out IGNORE the National ID portions of the legislation.
Instead, the focus will be on how the GOP was shellacked in the last election and simply "must" join with President Obama to pass this legislation.
Just like in the fight over the Second Amendment, the statists don't see the U.S. House as putting up much of a fight against anything the Senate passes.
So the Senate may be our best and only chance to take a stand.
But this fight will move fast.

Proposed Plan of Attack
Initially, flooding Senate offices with No National ID Petitions should be our goal.
This is to ensure every senator understands that American citizens won't be fooled by their attempts to hide the National ID portion of the so-called "Immigration Reform" bill.
The more Petitions we can generate, the better.
We should urge every Campaign for Liberty member and supporter to sign a Petition and then immediately begin generating them from other folks, as well.
As you know, back in 1998, then-Congressman Ron Paul was able to spearhead an effort inside Congress to repeal a National ID scheme.
I recall how this issue was ignored when Dr. Paul first began talking about it. But then, as grassroots Americans made their voices heard, a flood of representatives joined with Congressman Paul to kill this scheme.
Public pressure was key then, and it will be again for this fight.
But knowing all of this, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid isn't likely to wait around.
So we have to move fast.
As the fight nears, we're going to have to turn up the heat on key Republicans and Democrats who are most likely to go soft.
I'm talking to Hill contacts and working on an exhaustive list of Senators now.
I will have it to you shortly.
But the most important thing now is raising money and generating Petitions for the initial portion of this program.
I know C4L members and supporters understand the stakes.
The fight over National ID is absolutely critical. It's not one we can ignore.

It is often said, "No man's life, liberty, or fortune is safe while our legislature is in session."
Next week, the Senate comes back in session after a brief one-week recess, so buckle up.
The schemes are coming fast and furious, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is trying to finish up ramming a slew of power grabs through the Senate before Congress' extended August recess. The fights over the National Internet Tax and gun control haven't gone anywhere.
But President Obama, Harry Reid, and the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" also want to get their National ID/"Immigration Reform" bill fast-tracked, knowing that time has helped work to defeat these schemes in the past. As soon as the Senate comes back next week, the fight could begin.
I am not exaggerating at all when I say this is the absolute WORST National ID scheme we've seen to date.
So it's absolutely vital C4L members spring into action to stop this madness NOW.
If we're going to win this fight - especially after all the other battles we've taken on in recent weeks - we simply must start raising resources and generating No National ID Petitions IMMEDIATELY.
We're not going to have much time.
The Gang of Eight's Scheme
"Control the borders." "Path to citizenship." "Amnesty."
There's no end to the buzzwords being tossed around. And this fight is about to get white hot!
But all of the sloganeering is just designed to conceal all the madness contained within this 844-page monstrosity.
In fact, the problems are almost too many to list.
Besides dramatically increasing federal spending, this bill mandates every American carry a federally issued National ID card with their photo.
It also creates a new federal database with biometric information on every American.
If passed, the bill would:
*** Require a new National ID card based on Social Security cards and a national database containing biometric identification information, such as fingerprints, retinal scans, or scans of veins on the back of hands, which could easily be used for government tracking.
*** The card would be required for all U.S. workers regardless of place of birth, making it illegal for anyone to hold a job in the United States who doesn't obtain the ID card;
*** All employers would be required to purchase an ID scanner to verify the ID cards by making sure the information on the card matches the information in the federal database.
So every time any citizen applies for a job, the government would know.
You can bet it's only a matter of time until "ID scans" will be required to travel, attend public events, or make even routine purchases.
By far, the most dangerous part is the biometric tracking technology, which would allow federal bureaucrats to track our every move.
In fact, it sends shivers down my spine just reading through all the new mandates and requirements.
This is exactly the type of battle that often decides whether a country remains free or continues down a slide toward tyranny.
Once government bureaucrats know exactly how we live our lives, it won't be long until they try to run them.

A message from Ron Paul

This is getting to be like a bad movie.
You know the ones - where the villain, dead and buried more times than you can count, somehow mysteriously reappears in a place you don't expect him?
Well, here comes. . . a new fight over a biometric National ID card - and if you don't have the card, you can't work.
Right now, freedom-stealing statists Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), banding together with members of both parties, are scheming to sneak a massive power grab into a new "immigration reform" bill.
This bill is a statist's dream - a biometric ID card for every American.
In fact, when asked recently if he favored "a super Social Security card that would have some sort of biometric thing like a fingerprint," John McCain said, "I'm for it"!
That's why it's vital you sign your "No National ID" petition to C4L to make your voice heard on this issue IMMEDIATELY.
I'll give you the link in a moment, but first let me explain exactly what's at stake.
If passed, this dangerous scheme would require a new National ID card that would:

If there is good news to report, it's that, thanks to the help of activists like you, liberty-minded Americans have been able to render the Big Government politicians' National ID nearly toothless in numerous states across the country.
And C4L has been vital in helping to hold off their attempt to implement their cherished National ID scheme for the last few years.
But the statists are growing nervous.
They know the American people are FED UP with TRILLION-dollar deficits, massive new tax hikes, all-out assaults on our God-given right to keep and bear arms, and their other attempts to control every aspect of our lives.
They see your outrage is producing results, and many of their outrageous schemes are failing.
The American people are rising up in state after state to say "Enough," and brushfires of liberty are sweeping the nation.
So the statists are trying a bipartisan, "backdoor" scheme to impose more control over the American people.
They're hoping that after months of Big Media mouthpieces decrying the "poisonous and partisan politics" in Washington, the American people will jump for joy at the sight of a Democrat from liberal New York and a Republican from conservative Arizona "working together to solve our immigration mess."
Well, you and I know better.
After all, activists can hardly find two Senators with bigger vendettas against the liberty movement than Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator John McCain.
Senator McCain, along with his buddy Lindsey Graham, has very publicly denounced the liberty movement.
As I'm sure you remember, instead of standing with Senator Rand Paul during his historic filibuster, John McCain and Lindsey Graham were having dinner with President Obama.
And the next day, they lashed out against Rand, calling his filibuster "ridiculous."
They've clearly shown they believe we're not welcome in THEIR party.
That's one reason why I'm counting on you to FIGHT back by signing your "No National ID" petition to C4L IMMEDIATELY.
The only way to DEFEAT a new National ID card is to contact Americans from coast-to-coast and explain EXACTLY what's at stake.
They're not going to get the real story from the mainstream media. And they're surely not going to get the real story from the Washington establishment.
It's up to you and me to get our message out to as many folks as possible before it's too late.
