FBI wants less transparency

From Free Press:

The FBI is planning to take a big step backward for government transparency.

As of March 1, the agency will no longer accept Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests via email. Anyone seeking public records from the bureau will have to use a new online portal — or send requests via fax or snail mail.

Online FOIA portals may seem like a good idea in theory, but in reality, government agencies make them difficult and cumbersome to use and they include unnecessary hurdles.

Tell the FBI to keep accepting FOIA requests via email and cut out arbitrary restrictions.

The Freedom of Information Act gives us a legal right to request public records, which allow journalists and watchdogs to hold the government accountable. FOIA requests uncovered harmful covert operations like COINTELPRO — an FBI program with the goal of dismantling civil rights groups, among others — and also exposed government surveillance of Black Lives Matter activists. Given the Trump administration's hostile attitude toward the press and activists, we need our government to be more transparent, not less.

Our friends at MuckRock, who help journalists and others access public records, raised the alarm when the terms of service of the new FBI portal came to light. These include arbitrary restrictions that aren’t consistent with the law:

• Requests can’t be longer than 3,000 characters.
• Individuals aren’t eligible for the reduced fees available to media outlets, meaning that freelance journalists, and others, will have to pay extra when filing requests.
• Memos, emails, and other internal communications appear to be off-limits to requesters — a restriction that undermines government transparency.

While these terms of service might be improved going forward, the FBI has shown that it can and will arbitrarily change them without public comment.

Tell the FBI to keep its FOIA email up and running and to drop the arbitrary restrictions.

Freedom of information advocates have been fighting with the federal government over FOIA for a long time. And this isn’t the first time a government agency has spent taxpayer money to make public records less accessible.

Our federal government is harming so many communities — we need government transparency now more than ever.

Thanks for all that you do—

Fiona, Mike, Lucia and the rest of the Free Press team
freepress.net

P.S. Urge the FBI to make our government more transparent, not less.

Thank you!

We as a democratic republic cannot tolerate this. The government has to be transparent or the government will become tyrannical. That is why I am suggesting we also contact our Congressional Representative and our Senators and let them know about the FBI's conduct. The more of us they hear from the better.

Tell your Senators to oppose the nomination of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General

From the Drug Policy Alliance:

This was our worst nightmare.

Donald Trump has picked Jeff Sessions to be the next Attorney General.

It really couldn’t get any worse.

Over these last four years we’ve made great gains across the political spectrum toward treating drug use as a health issue, not a criminal one. Jeff Sessions will try to dismantle all that.

Jeff Sessions is a drug war extremist. There’s really no way around that.

As a U.S. Senator from Alabama, Sessions called for increased federal marijuana enforcement, and said “good people don’t smoke marijuana.” He once joked that his only issue with the Ku Klux Klan was their drug use. He was even denied a federal judgeship 30 years ago, by a Republican-controlled Senate, for racist views.

Get ready for raids on marijuana businesses. Get ready for militarized, Reagan-era drug war tactics.

We can’t let this stand.

The Drug Policy Alliance and our allies will fight Jeff Sessions’ nomination in the Senate tooth and nail. He won’t be nominated until Donald Trump takes office and the new Congress is in session. But with only six new Senators taking office, we must start fighting now.

Tell your Senators to oppose Jeff Sessions for Attorney General.

This nomination makes it clear that the new administration will be an enemy of drug policy reform, and we’ll be fighting to defend our hard fought victories for the next four years.

You can help us fight any and all attempts to expand the drug war by becoming a sustaining member today. We’re going to need all the help we can get over these next four years, and just $10 a month will go a long way.

We will fight to preserve everything we’ve gained, and we’ll never stop advocating for drug laws grounded in science, compassion, health and human rights.

Tell your Senator to support S. 683

From Americans For Safe Access:

More and more, Congress is talking about medical cannabis, but the conversation is largely focused on lifting research barriers. This is certainly important, but the fruit of any medical research will not come for several years, perhaps decades. That is why it’s so important for Congress to protect existing state medical cannabis programs in addition to expanding research. Thankfully, there’s a bill that does both of those things!

The CARERS Act (S. 683) would protect medical cannabis patients, their doctors, and the businesses that manufacture, test, and sell their medicine as long as they obey state law. It would also lift research barriers, create access to banking services for state-legal businesses, and help make it easier for veterans to obtain medical cannabis recommendations.

Medical cannabis patients need to let their senators in Washington know that protecting existing state medical cannabis programs is a top priority. Please take action to today by calling and emailing your Senators to support the CARERS Act today! And if your senator(s) have already signed on to the CARERS Act, be sure to send them a message of thanks.

Call and email your senators now!

Tell these Senators not to cave into Obama's demands

From Freedom Works:

You deserve to have a voice in selecting Justice Scalia’s successor to the Supreme Court. But some in Washington don’t want that to happen. They’d rather let Obama ram his nominee through the Senate, just to score cheap political points with the liberal media. This is wrong, and it’s up to you to stop them. Call these moderate senators today at 201-571-1178 and tell them to oppose any Supreme Court hearings or confirmation until next year.

We know that Obama’s doing everything he can to force these weak-kneed senators into giving him what he wants. He’s even got his friends in the liberal media and Hollywood pressuring them. And if you don’t fight back, they will cave! That’s why I’m asking you to call these senators at 201-571-1178 and tell them to oppose any Supreme Court confirmation while Obama is in office.

Let’s keep freedom working on the Supreme Court.

For Freedom,

Adam Brandon

Audit The Fed is finally here

From Ron Paul:

It's happening.

Audit the Fed is scheduled for a vote next Tuesday, January 12.

This is the best chance you and I’ve had yet to finally audit the Federal Reserve.

With this breaking news, Federal Reserve apologists are on high alert and are already working overtime to make sure you and I don't have the votes needed to succeed in the Senate.

They know Audit the Fed would EXPOSE the Fed's corruption and cronyism.

So, I've instructed my staff to double down.

I've developed a two-prong approach to counterpunch the Fed's army of lobbyists and derail their scheme to scare and intimidate senators into voting against Audit the Fed when they return next Monday.

FIRST >>> Campaign for Liberty must generate at least 50,000 phone calls from concerned grassroots Americans like you. Our goal is to flood the Senate Halls when they return from recess, demanding each and every senator vote for Audit the Fed.

After you sign, please share this alert with your family and friends, encouraging them to pledge to take action.

SECOND >>> You've been a long-time supporter of mine. And Audit the Fed has been the focus of Campaign for Liberty’s efforts since I founded it in 2008.

You know the importance of contacting and mobilizing like-minded liberty lovers. But that costs time, money, and significant resources.

Resources, I'm afraid, Campaign for Liberty just doesn’t have lying around.

Campaign for Liberty expended a lot of resources just to get where you and I are right now -- and it will take much more to reach millions of like-minded Americans to aid us in this fight.

So, I'm asking you today to please make a generous donation of $10 .

Your contribution, of whatever you can afford, will be put to immediate use where it’s needed most.

Emails. Facebook. Google. TV, radio, and YouTube ads, if the funds can be stretched that far.

Every dollar we raise will help us flood every outlet to reach millions of Americans and fight back against Janet Yellen and Barack Obama’s Federal Reserve System.

Can I count on you?

For Liberty,

Ron Paul
Chairman

P.S. Time is short, so I need your pledge to take action today.

The Audit the Fed vote is happening next Tuesday, January 12.

Please let me know if I can count on your support in this critical battle against the Federal Reserve.

The vote for Audit The Fed is set for Tuesday January 12,2016 which means that we need to contact our Senators on January 11 and tell them to vote in favor of Audit The Fed. This is what we've fought for: a stand alone Audit The Fed bill. This will tell us which side our Senators are on because this is a stand alone bill. It has no riders. If your Senators vote against Audit The Fed or if any one Senator does you know which side they are on and remember that when it is reelection time for them.

CISA could come to a vote at any minute in the Senate

From Fight For The Future:

Bad news.

Despite the fact that nearly every major tech company and security expert has come out against it, Congress is still rushing toward a vote on CISA, and the numbers are not looking good. The House Intelligence chief is claiming that CISA will pass “overwhelmingly,” despite the massive public outcry.

It pains me to say this, but CISA is going to become law unless we go all out right now and every single person getting this does everything in their power to stop it and their phones ring off the hook.

There’s just hours left to have an impact, tell your lawmakers to vote NO on CISA right now.

If you’re still catching up, CISA is the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, which is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation in the Internet’s history. It sets the precedent for what the Internet is used for into the future. It would effectively give the government full access to all of our information to use as they wish, end privacy policies, and make all of us more vulnerable to cyber attacks.

CISA would allow spy agencies like the NSA to collect even more of your personal data and then share it with dozens of other government agencies, all the way down to local police, authorizing them to use it for an absurdly wide range of purposes that have nothing to do with “cybersecurity,” including investigating "fake" id's.

Worse, it will literally do nothing to stop the types of high profile cyber attacks that Congress is using to justify it. So we get less privacy AND less security, while giant companies like Target, Experian, and Sony will get legal immunity that lets them on the hook when they fail to protect our data.

There’s still a chance. We’ve won against these types of odds before. But everyone getting this needs to take action TODAY.

No matter what happens, we’ve put up a hell of a fight. Together we put the fear of the Internet into the largest tech companies in the U.S. and got them to take a stand against this bill. Now we need to bring it home.

We at Fight for the Future are working around the clock on this right now. Several of us are en route to Washington, DC as I write this and we’ll be participating in an awesome protest outside Congress TONIGHT at 6:30pm EST with giant light up signs.

Beyond making calls, if you’re in the DC area or know someone who is, go here to get the details and RSVP or spread the word by clicking here

Congress is hoping that they can sneak this bill through without a fight. We need to prove them wrong.

The final vote is days away. Click here to take action against CISA right now.

We can’t thank you enough for all you do. This is the free speech fight of our generation, and we’re proud to be with you on the frontlines.

For the Internet,

The Senate is trying to sneak through the National Internet Tax Mandate

From Campaign For Liberty:

Unless you and I act now, the National Internet Tax Mandate could sail through the Senate, the House, and into law before the end of the month!

Campaign for Liberty members continue to keep the National Internet Tax Mandate from even being considered by the House of Representatives, but the powerful special interests behind it have not given up their efforts to raise the price of every good you buy online.

Campaign for Liberty staff have heard that a “bipartisan” group of Senators—led by Big Government Republican Mike Enzi and Big Government Democrat Dick Durbin—are trying to attach the National Internet Tax Mandate to the “must-pass” Highway Appropriations bill.

Their hope is that if they can attach the Internet sales tax to the Highway bill the House leadership will ram the Internet sales tax into law rather than risk even a temporary shutdown of federally-funded highway programs.

It seems like a full-proof plan, but there is one thing the statists are not counting on…

The same thing that has blocked every other scheme to sneak the National Internet Tax Mandate into law...

Campaign for Liberty members like you!

If we let the Senate know the people are watching, and oppose any attempts to pass the National Internet Tax Mandate, we can stop this deal!

So please call your Senators today and tell them to vote NO all votes to attach the National Internet Tax Mandate to highway funding.

The Senate could begin consideration of the highway bill as early as tommorow, so it is vital you call your Senators NOW.

Again, Senators Mike Enzi, Dick Durbin, and the special interests behind the National Internet Tax Mandate, hope that by attaching the National Internet Sales Tax Mandate to the Highway Funding bill they will provide “cover” to pro-Internet Sales Tax and waiving politicians.

If this passes, those who voted for it will say they had no choice…

They will say they had to impose new taxes and regulations on the Internet, otherwise highway construction would have come to a standstill, and millions of Americans would have been thrown out of work (and those Senators who opposed the deal would have antagonized powerful labor unions and business lobbyists).

We have come too far in our battle to keep the Internet tax free to be defeated by a sleazy deal like this!

The only way to stop this deal is to make sure the Senate knows we are on to their scheme and we will not let them get away with it.

So please take a moment today to call your Senators and tell them to vote NO on any Highway bill that contains the National Internet Tax Mandate!

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could move the Highway bill to the Senate floor as early as tomorrow, so please contact your Senators immediately!

If passed, the National Internet Tax Mandate will:

•Raise prices on everything you buy online;
•Provide big-spending governors with new bailout money through the federal government imposing more taxes on their citizens; Violate the principle of “No Taxation without Representation” by allowing state legislatures to raise taxes on individuals and businesses located out of state, with little, if any, recourse against politicians who hike tax rates;
•Free tax collectors in one state to pursue retailers across state line;
•Allow government bureaucrats from all fifty states to examine every Internet purchase you make in order to ensure you are complying with the National Internet Tax Mandate;
•And make it easier for the Federal Government to sic the IRS on the Internet!

The National Internet Tax Mandate’s incentive to raise sales taxes will lead to an explosion of already out-of-control state budgets.

Even worse, the massive cost of complying with the National Internet Tax Mandate could drive many smaller Internet companies out of business... and discourage the creation of the next Amazon.com.

So please call your senators and tell them to oppose any legislation containing the National Internet Tax Mandate... including the Highway Appropriations bill.

But most importantly, please contact your senators IMMEDIATELY.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. Senators Mike Enzi and Dick Durbin are leading a “bipartisan” group of Senators in trying to sneak the National Internet Tax Mandate onto a “must-pass” Highway Appropriations bill.

This sleazy deal is designed to provide cover for pro-Internet sales tax politicians who can claim that they “had” to vote for National Internet Tax Mandate or else shut down highway construction.

Please call your Senators and tell them to vote NO on all votes on legislation adding the National Internet Sales Tax Mandate to the highway funding bill.

And if you can please chip in $50, $25, or even $10 to help Campaign for Liberty efforts to stop the National Internet Tax Mandate.

Tell your Senator to vote against Fast Track for TPP/TAA

From The Tea Party:

There's no time to waste so I'll get right to the point.

We need to shut down the U.S. Senate switchboard TODAY, and we need your help.

Yesterday the Senate voted to advance President Obama's trade agenda, with their vote to end debate on fast-track trade authority (commonly referred to as TPA).

This afternoon the Senate will vote on whether or not to approve TPA. They will also vote on moving forward a separate bill that includes Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and trade preferences for African countries, known as the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

If passed, these bills will go to Obama's desk to be signed into law, giving him the authority to finalize the largest so-called "free trade" deal in history - the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

This TPP deal, negotiated in secret meetings dominated by governments and corporations, is bad for American workers, consumers and small business owners.

We need to make our voice heard and STOP this giveaway to corporate America and foreign nations!

Please take a moment RIGHT NOW to call your United States Senators and demand they stand up for American citizens, by voting "no" to fast-track trade authority for President Obama.

Please, do these two things immediately:

1. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and tell your Senators: Vote with the Freedom Caucus, VOTE NO on TPA and TAA/Trade preferences.

2. Chip in $15, $25, $50, or more to make sure we can get this in front of every fellow tea party American.

Thank you for your activism and support.

Sincerely,

Katrina Pierson

Tell these 8 Senators to oppose Section 215 of the Patriot Act if it remains in its unconstitutional form

From FreedomWorks:

End the NSA's Lawless Spying
468 calls reported

The NSA’s unconstitutional, warrantless spying needs to end!

Obama is using a short-term provision in the Patriot Act to spy on all of your electronic records. Obama’s snoops are exploiting Section 215 to make sure they can collect all of your phone, email, and electronic data without a warrant!

There will soon be a vote to reauthorize Section 215 of the Patriot Act. When the Patriot Act is reauthorized, the temporary section (Section 215) must be reformed to protect your 4th Amendment constitutional rights. The government must get a specific warrant before searching your personal phone data.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to give Obama exactly what he wants: a clean reauthorization of Section 215 of the Patriot Act.

8 Republican senators can stand up to him and protect our privacy. Our right to privacy shouldn’t be violated by the NSA.

Call these 8 Republicans today. Urge them to stand against any reauthorization of Section 215 of the Patriot Act that doesn’t end bulk collection of phone data!

Talking points:

- Mitch McConnell wants to pass a clean reauthorization of Section 215 of the Patriot Act – and give President Obama everything he wants.

- Right now, Obama's NSA is unconstitutionally collecting the phone data of innocent Americans without specific warrants.

- If Section 215 of the Patriot Act is going to be reauthorized, then it needs to be reformed so that a specific warrant is required to collect the phone data of innocent Americans.

- Stand up for the 4th Amendment and stop any reauthorization of Section 215 that doesn’t end bulk collection of data without a warrant.

Oppose the Immigration Bill

This week, the United States Senate will be voting to end debate on the so-called “Immigration Reform” Bill and proceed to final passage.

With the bill now over 1,200 pages, I don't know a single senator who's read every word.

But what you and I can tell about the bill is bad enough.

That’s why it’s vital you call your U.S. Senators at once at:

(202) 224-3121

Please urge them to vote “NO!” on this so-called “Immigration Reform Bill.”

As I’ve told you before, virtually every American understands that ours is a country of immigrants who came because America has long been known as the "land of opportunity."

And like most Americans, I want our traditions of hope and economic freedom for all to continue.

The American people simply want to be able to trust that our borders are finally protected – and ensure that Congress verifies the job gets done.

But Congress is shirking its duty once again, handing responsibility to the President to ensure our borders are secure and offering only fig leaf solutions.

How can we be assured the Executive Branch will do its job when we’ve seen Presidents in BOTH parties simply ignore the problem?

We can't. And without a Congressional trigger, you and I can be virtually assured the problem won't be solved. Sadly, that’s not the only concern I have.

As I’ve told you before, a brand new National ID scheme is also included in this bill.

Under the National ID scheme, the Department of Homeland Security would create a massive new photo database to include names, ages, and Social Security numbers of every single American.

The database would be tied to a biometric National ID card to include photos – and soon, perhaps even things like fingerprints and retinal scans.

Before hiring, employers would be required to check the names against the federal database.

And if you don't get one, you'd be barred from working legally.

But how long before you'd be required to show your National ID card to rent a house, open a bank account or even buy groceries?

How long before you'd be required to be checked against the Department of Homeland Security's National Database before you could buy a firearm?

You and I have already seen President Obama's IRS vastly abuse their power over American citizens.

The NSA scandal sends shivers down many Americans spines.

And we're supposed to believe this power won't be abused?

With this new database, our federal government could not only create an easy national gun registry – but a registry of everything else about our lives.

You and I must do everything we can to defeat this bill.

Won’t you please call your Senators at once?

You can reach them at:

(202) 224-3121

Please tell them to vote "NO!" on this so-called “Immigration Reform” Bill.

And, if you can, please chip in $10 or $20 to help me mobilize Americans in the final crucial hours before this vote.

In liberty,

Senator Rand Paul

P.S. This week, the United States Senate will be voting to end debate on the so-called “Immigration Reform” Bill and proceed to final passage.

Considering what we know about the bill – including just “trusting” the White House to secure the border and imposing a new National ID card – you and I must fight back.

So please call your U.S. Senators at once at:

(202) 224-3121

Urge them to vote “NO!” on this so-called “Immigration Reform Bill.”

Tell the Senate to oppose the nomination of Thomas Perez for Labor Secretary

From The National Right To Work Committee:

Barack Obama is at it again.

While Obama's out-of-control, unconstitutional National Labor Relations Board has earned the bulk of the headlines, Obama's Labor Department has quietly done Big Labor's bidding since Day One.

And now, eager to pay back his union-boss benefactors who unleashed another billion-dollar political spending blitz in 2012, Obama has nominated another anti-worker, pro-Big Labor ideologue to be Labor Secretary.

And I need your help to kill the nomination.

You see, we're entering the most dangerous phase of the battle to stop the confirmation of Barack Obama's union-label Labor Secretary nominee, Thomas Perez.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was hoping to have rammed the nomination through the Senate before Memorial Day.

But concerned citizens raised a storm of protest, and it showed.

The 12-10 vote in the Senate Labor Committee in May was an encouraging sign that Senate Republicans are listening and a filibuster is possible.

Now the union bosses are demanding Harry Reid use any means necessary -- even ending the filibuster for nominations -- to ram pro-forced unionism Thomas Perez's nomination through the Senate.

Let me tell you more about what's at stake.

You see, under Obama's first Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis, the Department of Labor went on a rampage to keep workers in the dark about their rights and enable the forced unionization of workers across the country by:

*** Slashing the budget of the Office of Labor Management Standards, the federal agency that enforces union disclosure laws and serves as a watchdog against union-boss corruption;

*** Refusing to enforce anti-kickback provisions, allowing workers' wages to be kicked back to employers in union-sponsored job target funds.

*** While on the Montgomery County Council, Perez allegedly used his position to influence, intimidate and pressure employers on behalf of Communications Workers of America union officials.

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Even more troubling, because Barack Obama is no longer accountable to the voters, I'm afraid the worst is yet to come.

And everything we know about Thomas Perez strongly suggests he will use the power of his position to promote the agenda of Big Labor at the expense of hard-working Americans:

*** As Maryland's Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez greased the skids to more easily force unionization on childcare providers.

That scheme mirrors Big Labor's nationwide strategy to force in-home care providers -- even parents, grandparents, and babysitters who take care of sick and disabled children with state assistance -- into dues-paying ranks.

*** Perez repeatedly tapped into the Big Labor well to fill political appointments.

In fact, Perez even gave a political appointment to a former organizer from the Laborers International Union of North America, an organization the Department of Labor Inspector General's racketeering section considered corrupt.

*** While on the Montgomery County Council, Perez allegedly used his position to influence, intimidate and pressure employers on behalf of Communications Workers of America union officials.

Attempting to justify those tactics, Perez made the offensive and derogatory comment that unionized workers "would be more productive, more motivated and more loyal" than non-union workers.

The more than 93 percent of American private-sector workers free from union control don't need that kind of bias at the Department of Labor.

Not only that, our economy just can't afford it.

So before it's too late, please authorize your free action fax to your U.S. Senators insisting they oppose Perez's nomination.

Now that the nomination is out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Harry Reid could force a vote at any time.

But I'm afraid we're really stretching our budget thin to alert concerned citizens like you to Thomas Perez' record and build up grassroots opposition to his nomination.

But most importantly, your U.S. Senators must hear from you right away.

Please authorize your free action fax at once.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. Barack Obama's Labor Secretary nominee Thomas Perez has a long track record of using his power to do Big Labor's bidding.

Please click here to authorize your free fax petition right away urging your U.S. Senators to vote AGAINST the confirmation of Thomas Perez.

Harry Reid is getting desperate

From Public Advocate:

My friend, the Senate has just shut down our Fax Petitions.

Over the past week, millions of faxed petitions have poured into the Senate demanding that our senators stand up to Harry Reid's corrupt plan to destroy the minority's Filibuster.

The flood of faxes drastically increased when pro-Family activists learned that Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was talking about a sell-out deal.

And Public Advocate supporters have been on the frontlines of this fight the whole time.

But now someone in the Senate has made the decision to block our faxed petitions protesting the Filibuster "Reform."

This can mean only one thing... You and I are getting to them!

They know that you and I are wise to the dangers of this reform -- the entire Homosexual Agenda could be fast-tracked right through the Senate!

But there is no way I am going to let their despicable tactics succeed.

Now we have to turn up the heat even more.

To do this, I need you to take three simple steps:

1) Call Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's office at (202)224-2541 and ask him why he is siding with Harry Reid on the so-called Filibuster "Reform."

2) Call the Senate Switchboard at (202)224-3121 and ask to speak to your senators directly. Let them know you oppose any deal for so-called Filibuster "Reform."

3) Forward this email to your friends and family and ask them to take action right away!

The nation is counting on you.

If every supporter of Public Advocate takes action today, we will rock the Senate to its foundations.

Please do what you can today to stand with the Family.

For the Family,

Eugene Delgaudio
President, Public Advocate of the United States

You can email Senator Mitch McConnell and find your Representative here. Filibuster is a big deal. I belong to a lot of groups and no two groups ever say the same thing. Until now and this is the common issue so you know it's big. Don't pass this one up our freedom is on the line. Send those emails today.

Protect your privacy by opposing FAA

From Campaign For Liberty:

According to the latest reports, the Senate is expected to vote as early as tonight to reauthorize the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (FAA) for 5 years.

The statists hide behind this legislation to supposedly "justify" warrantless wiretapping of American citizens communicating with those overseas, among other things.

Despite the best efforts of liberty-minded activists and even some members of Congress, no one outside of a select few know for sure how many innocent Americans have had their privacy violated or which of their overseas communications are being monitored (it could be all) due to the FAA's sweeping permissions.

And as is usually the case with these kinds of bills, instead of holding an honest debate on the legislation's effects - as is promised when these bills are first passed - the politicians do their best to ram through the reauthorization votes without any challenge.

But a few senators, including Rand Paul, are refusing to let the FAA pass without a fight.

Senator Paul has introduced an amendment that is also set to be voted on tonight.

His amendment would make it clear that Americans' communications are protected from all unwarranted searches and seizures - no matter who wants the information.

You and I must give these statists exactly what they fear the most - a bruising fight in defense of our fundamental rights.

It is up to us to drag their unconstitutional schemes into the light of day and mobilize more opposition against their plans.

So please, take just a moment today to fight for your liberties by contacting your senators and urging them to take the following actions: 1. Publicly stand in defense of the Constitution by voting for the Rand Paul amendment to the FAA.

2. Make another statement for liberty by voting against final passage of the FAA and halting this statist scheme entirely.

3. Go even further by doing everything in their power to find out how many innocent Americans have been affected by the kind of security state power grabs protected by the FISA Amendments Act.

If you're not sure of your senators' contact information, you can find it here.

Time is running out, so please take action right away.

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. The Senate is expected to vote as early as tonight to reauthorize the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (FAA) for 5 years.

No one outside of a select few know how many innocent Americans have had their privacy invaded by this legislation or which of their overseas communications are being monitored due to its sweeping authority.

Please, take action in defense of your fundamental freedoms right away by contacting your senators and urging them to support the Rand Paul amendment to the FAA.

Also urge them to make a clear statement in support of the Constitution by voting against final passage of the FAA.

I value my privacy so if you value yours send in those emails to your save your privacy from the statists. Time is short so act quickly.
