From Senate Conservatives Fund:
"Send the bums home, they need to get a job."
Rand Paul (R-KY)That was U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) speaking at the Detroit Economic Club last week about the need for congressional term limits.
We could not agree with him more.
"I've been there three years and I get beaten down every day," he said. "It's how long can you maintain your enthusiasm to try to change something."
The lack of enthusiasm to bring about real change is not only a powerful argument for term limits, it's also the central difference between establishment Republicans and conservatives.
Conservatives like Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Marco Rubio (R-FL) not only believe in our principles, they believe they can be enacted if we fight for them.
That's not the case with establishment Republicans. They publicly say they want to stop bad policies like Obamacare and tax increases, but privately they say these things aren't possible.
It's why Mitch McConnell (R-KY) gave up on defunding Obamacare before the fight began. It's also why McConnell and other Republicans have helped Democrats pass bailouts, more debt, and higher taxes.
The establishment starts every debate with the belief that winning isn't possible and then willingly accept defeat. The problem with that is if we don't fight the liberals, we are guaranteed to lose 100% of the time.
46 YEARS IN WASHINGTON?
Thad Cochran (R-MS)U.S Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) announced last week that he will seek a seventh term in the U.S. Senate.
If you include the years Cochran was in the House of Representatives, he's been in Washington for 40 years. Now, he wants six more.
It probably won't surprise you to learn that Thad Cochran has voted to: •Fund the implementation of Obamacare
•Raise taxes on 80% of Mississippi families
•Increase the debt limit ten different times
•Bail out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
•Fund wasteful earmarks with billions of taxpayer dollars
•Defeat term limits for members of Congress
•Create the Medicare Part D entitlement program
•Grant amnesty to illegal immigrants
•Continue farm subsides for millionaires
•Create the federal Department of Education
•Expand federal education with No Child Left Behind
•Defeat a plan to balance the budget in 10 years
This isn't the record of a conservative. It's the record of a career politician who has lost the will to fight for our nation's founding principles.
Chris McDaniel (R-MS)We think it's time for a change and it's why we're supporting Chris McDaniel (R-MS) in the June 3 Republican primary election.
Chris McDaniel is a constitutional conservative who will take a public and principled stand against the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are bankrupting our country.
Mitch McConnell and the establishment don't like Chris McDaniel because he won't be easy to manage. McDaniel believes winning is possible and he won't surrender to the liberals in Washington.
We don't have term limits for members of Congress yet, but we have the ability to elect a new generation of leaders. We need to make sure Republican voters in Mississippi know they have a choice this election.
