Preserve Net Neutrality

From FreePress:

We may soon have to say goodbye to the Internet as we know it.

For two decades, getting online opened up vast new worlds to us, and gave us control over what we read, watched and heard. It was the world's largest library, town square, video store, shopping mall and post office.

The open Internet let us connect and communicate like never before.

But now we’re in a new era where choice and free speech are under threat. Sure, you can still get Netflix … as long as you subscribe to Comcast. Want to publish your thoughts on your own site? Maybe AT&T will cut you a deal. Then again, maybe not.

Think big Internet providers can’t do this? Think again.

Please Donate Today and Help Free Press Save the Internet

Here’s the good news: The end of the Internet isn’t here … yet. But any day now, a federal court could decide whether to strike down the only protections we have against companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon. These companies want to kill Net Neutrality, the guiding principle of the open Internet, and block what we do and say online.

Verizon and its friends will stop at nothing to shut down the Internet we love. That’s why the company is suing to throw out the Net Neutrality rules — and to get rid of the FCC’s ability to draft and enforce any rules that protect Internet users and promote competition online.

If Verizon wins, the open Internet will be a thing of the past — unless we act to protect it right now.

Donate to Free Press and Help Us Fight Back.

We’re on the verge of a true David-and-Goliath moment. The opportunity to flip the balance of power is in our hands.

On one side: Free Press — leading a people-powered movement to protect our rights to connect and communicate. (By the way, we don’t take any money from business, government or political parties. We rely on friends like you to fuel our work.)

On the other: Verizon. It has billions of dollars in the bank and an army of lawyers and lobbyists on its payroll.

To Stand a Chance in This Fight, We’re Going to Need You in Our Corner. Donate Today.

Thanks for all that you do—

Josh Levy
