Merry Christmas from Public Advocate

From Public Advocate:

Today is Christmas and I wish you and your family, friends and neighbors God's blessing and peace.

God sent us his son and we all celebrate this wonderful day.

One year ago this Christmas Eve, Public Advocate filed a response to our legal tormentors, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and in a similar vein, we have had to rush a legal brief again just today- right before Christmas, disproving a SPLC mis-truth.

I remember how I had to fight the American Civil Liberties Union -- going right to their Washington offices and camping out in front on the street -- to protest attacks on Christmas.

It just seems year round and around the clock the Homosexual Lobby and their allies are relentless.

But Washington is closed tighter than a drum right now. I am going to take time on Christmas to celebrate the birth of hope.

A lot has been accomplished thanks to you and this is Christmas Eve so I will not list them.

We, together, are the true hope of America.

And yesterday we completed the biggest and most urgent of our petition drives to defend Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty against the Homosexual Lobby.

I do not know how either of these challenges to me or our values will fare, but I will continue to trust in God and rely on your help to win or survive.

Merry Christmas!

And Season's Greetings to people of faith of all religions also.

Attacks on traditional values and the right to worship Godly values continues at a fast pace in today's America.

Just saying Merry Christmas and God Bless you marks you as "one of those Christian people".

I know we have many faiths promoting moral values, but we all agree and we all will fight for religious freedom.

To be Christian or to openly celebrate the birth of the Savior might bring a public abuse.

If you are an elected official you get editorials in major media outlets condemning you and your church, perhaps a lawsuit, or other complaint, an act of vandalism or in some recent cases threats and assault.

But it takes an effort to remember our values and we must all do our part to keep our traditions.

When the yelling and screaming from liberals stops for Christmas Day, most of America stands with us and knows anti-Christian God-haters and radical Homosexual activist protestors are in the distinct minority.

The freedom to practice your religion is in the U.S. Constitution. The attack on Christmas, Christians and Biblical values is an attack on all religion and our freedoms.

We have come together and we are standing together as never before and I am grateful that I can share this Christmas with you and know we --you and I-- have worked together for God's glory and to stand for what is right.

The late President Ronald Reagan gave his first Christmas address in 1981.

Ronald Reagan said, in part:

At this special time we renew our sense of wonder. We believe in the Divinity of the child born in Bethlehem that he was and is the promised Prince of Peace.

Yes, we have questioned why He who could perform miracles chose to come among us as a helpless babe but maybe that was His first miracle... His first great lesson that we should learn to care for one another.

We Americans have always tried to follow a higher light, a star if you will.

Trusting in God's help we have never lost our way. Let this be a time of re-dedication.

In a spirit of gratitude for what we have been able to achieve in the past year and looking forward to all that we hope to achieve in the years ahead... God Bless us every one.

There will come a time when all Americans will unite against the anti-Christian attacks and bring them to an end once and for all.

I hope you can renew our sense of wonder and that the nation returns to that sense of wonder once again. Amen.
