From Demand Progress:
Over the past five months, I have been heartened to see the memory of my son galvanizing such a powerful movement for change. I can tell you, it's what Aaron would have wanted.
It has been your efforts that have led some lawmakers to pursue an investigation of Aaron's vindictive, cruel and disproportionate prosecution. When the Justice Department appeared before the Judiciary Committee to discuss Aaron's case, Senators Patrick Leahy, John Cornyn, and Al Franken all pushed for answers. And for that they deserve thanks.
Click here to join me in thanking these Senators for their efforts and urge them to keep pushing for answers about Aaron's unjust prosecution.
At the request of these senators, the Department of Justice recently briefed Senate Judiciary Committee staffers on their prosecution of Aaron -- but more questions remain.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: my son was destroyed by a system and prosecutors that still don’t understand the nature of what they did.
They destroyed my son by their callousness and inflexibility.
Click here to thank those lawmakers who've aided our effort to expose the absurd and abusive nature of Aaron's prosecution.
The work of changing that system -- of getting answers to our unanswered questions about Aaron's prosectution -- remains before us.
For now, it's important that those lawmakers who've already joined our cause know that we are thankful, and that we will continue to stand with them as they use their power to hold the DOJ to account and seek justice for Aaron.
Click here to join me in thanking them for pursuing the investigation, and let them know that we'll stand with them as they keep pressing forward.
Thank you,
Bob Swartz

The government is spying on you
From Demand Progress:
It's an outrage: The Guardian has obtained long sought-after evidence of the extent of ongoing spying on Americans under the PATRIOT Act -- and it's as bad as we'd worried.
The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America's largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.
The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.
Click here to demand that the Congress investigate -- and put an end to -- this spying right away!
The government is continuing -- and expanding -- egregious spying and other infringement on our civil liberties that began under the Bush administration. And enough is enough!
Please sign on to our petition to the House Oversight Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee to demand an immediate investigation of this spying.
Just click here to tell Congress to investigate -- and end -- the spying right now!

From Fight For The Future:
A leaked document proves that the US government is tracking call information and caller location for every American who uses Verizon. And probably every other carrier as well.
The top secret court ruling -- obtained by The Guardian -- shows that the NSA forced Verizon to hand over the records of every single customer’s phone calls “on an ongoing, daily basis.” Sounds like dystopian sci-fi? Read the ruling for yourself, it’s only 3 pages.
This confirms what we and other digital rights organizations have been saying for years: the U.S. Government’s domestic surveillance programs are completely out of control.
Help us send a message so strong it can’t be ignored. This indiscriminate spying on innocent Americans must stop immediately, and those responsible should be prosecuted for violating the Constitution.
The Obama administration responded this morning, saying it’s a tool to monitor “suspected terrorists”. But they weren’t monitoring terrorists; they were monitoring every Verizon customer and--most likely--every single American with a cellphone.
This new revelation could really be the last straw, the thing that grabs the public’s attention and catalyzes a new movement for protecting our Constitutional rights online. But tons of people still haven’t even heard the news.
We’ll be building out this site and adding updates all day. If you only take action on one thing this year, this should be it. This is outrageous and straight forward enough that your Grandma will want to sign it. Tell everyone. We need to draw a line in the sand to protect our rights.
More on this soon.
Sincerely,
Holmes Wilson

Repeal NDAA unconstitutional resistriction
From Campaign For Liberty:
Update - As I was getting ready to send you the below email, news broke that the Obama administration has been collecting data on the phone calls of millions of innocent Americans.
Add this further proof of an out-of-control federal government to what we've already seen with the NDAA (more info below), and it's clear you and I must raise our voices NOW.
Please sign your Repeal Section 1021 Fax Petition today (see below for link) and give what you can to help C4L fight not only the NDAA's indefinite detention provision, but the federal government's other MASSIVE intrusions into our lives.
We all know the Supreme Court, Congress, and the President make mistakes.
ObamaCare's "Individual Mandate," anyone?
Next week, you and I have an opportunity to overturn one of the most dangerous mistakes Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court have ever made.
Which is why I need you to sign your Repeal Section 1021 Fax Petition right away!
Let me explain...
You see, in 1944, the Supreme Court upheld the supposed "constitutionality" of Franklin D. Roosevelt's Executive Order 9066, which led to the internment of Japanese-Americans in prison camps throughout WWII.
Despite the passage of the "Civil Liberties Act of 1988," the Korematsu and Hirabayashi decisions are still on the books.
In 1992, when Congress passed amendments to the Act, then-President George H.W. Bush said, "The internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry was a great injustice, and it will never be repeated."
Or will it...?
Congress has reopened this scar in our nations' past by codifying into law Presidential authority to detain Americans as long as they want.
Specifically, Section 1021 of the FY 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) allows American citizens to be detained indefinitely - without due process - until the "War on Terror" is declared over.
But, as politicians of both parties are forever reminding us, the "War on Terror" may never be over.
An amendment intended to curtail the blatantly unconstitutional indefinite detention provision was adopted to the FY 2013 NDAA in the Senate - before being stripped out by the John McCain-led Conference Committee.
Their goal was to ensure the President could secretly target American citizens and throw them in jail for years or even decades without so much as ever giving them a trial!
Next week, the full House will take up the FY 2014 NDAA, and it's up to us to make sure it repeals Section 1021 of the FY 2012 NDAA.
That's why it's so urgent you sign your "Repeal Section 1021" Fax Petition to Congress right away!
This petition urges your representative to support any amendment that will prevent the indefinite detention of American citizens and to vote against any defense authorization bill that doesn't repeal this abuse of power!
Representative Thomas Massie and others have assured us they are doing what they can to bring an amendment to the floor, but if it gets there, your representative needs to know how to vote.
That's why Congress needs to hear from you immediately.
After failing to adopt amendments to repeal Sec. 1021 of the FY 2012 NDAA, the government still has the authority to indefinitely detain anyone the government accuses of "supporting terrorism."
Remember, not too long ago, it was C4L members who were listed in a Missouri Fusion Center report, later referred to as the MIAC report, as "domestic extremists" to be watched.
And it wasn't just C4L members on that list, but people displaying third party logos and bumper stickers - and, specifically, supporters of Ron Paul.
In the past, everyone from gun owners, to pro-lifers, to tea partiers have been labeled "terrorists" by their political opponents.
This is why it's critical Section 1021 be repealed.
In a signing statement, the President assured Americans he wouldn't use this power.
But after all that's happened with this administration lately, I'm not sure Americans can ever take this President at his word again.
Even if this President doesn't use such authority, what about the next? And the one after that?
You and I must take a stand and make our voices heard.
So please sign your Repeal Section 1021 Fax Petition right away.
Ultimately, I'd love to flood Capitol Hill with fax petitions from outraged constituents all across the country.
But C4L can only take as much action as our members' continued support allows.
So please sign your Repeal Section 1021 Fax Petition.
In Liberty,
John Tate

The triple threat in Congress
They're baaa-aaaack.
That feeling in the pit of your stomach you got this morning when you rolled out of bed wasn't just because it's Monday . . .
After a week of leaving us alone, Congress is back, and their docket is chock full of radical assaults on our liberties.
And I do mean FULL.
I'll explain more in just a moment.
But first, it's absolutely vital you sign your DEFEND LIBERTY Fax Petition IMMEDIATELY.
By signing your petition, you authorize Campaign for Liberty to send your petitions as soon as the three critical fights I'm going to tell you about rear their ugly heads.
Trust me. It won't be long!
First up, the U.S. Senate will begin work on their so-called "Immigration Reform" bill, which is nothing more than a statist front to RAM a massive NATIONAL ID scheme into law.
The statists' NATIONAL ID card would be required for all U.S. workers regardless of place of birth, making it illegal for anyone to hold a job in the United States who doesn't obtain the ID card.
The most dangerous part is the biometric database, which would allow federal bureaucrats to track our every move.
Once government bureaucrats know exactly how we live our lives, it won't be long until they ramp up their efforts to run them through more laws, regulations, taxes, and other restraints.
As bad as this assault is, it's FAR from the end of what the statists in both parties have up their sleeves.
In fact, Congress could soon end up ramming through two other massive power grabs:
*** GUN CONTROL.
Ever since their first attempt at gun control flamed out in the U.S. Senate, the gun-grabbers have been doing everything they can to browbeat the handful of Republican and Democrat Senators they need into supporting President Obama's anti-gun assault.
But now, you and I are learning House Republican Leadership could take up the issue even before the Senate acts.
*** NATIONAL INTERNET TAX MANDATE.
If passed, the National Internet Tax Mandate would raise taxes on all Americans as a state sales tax on all goods purchased online would be implemented.
Tax collectors in one state would now be free to pursue retailers across state lines, so if customers in New York make purchases from an online retailer in Texas, that retailer must collect New York's exorbitant sales taxes and send them to New York's tax collection agencies.
Worse, after the bill overwhelmingly passed the Senate, I'm already getting word that some in the GOP leadership will be more than happy to help this Obama-backed bill sail into law.
You and I have to mobilize NOW to stop this madness.
So won't you please sign your DEFEND LIBERTY Fax Petition IMMEDIATELY?
As I mentioned, I'll begin flooding Congress with these Fax Petitions as soon as the fights begin.
I hope you'll act today.
In fact, I hope you'll go two critical steps further . . .
1) Please forward this email to as many friends and family members as you can to ensure they know exactly what's at stake;
2) Agree to your most generous contribution.
I know I don't need to explain to you just how many battles Campaign for Liberty has taken on over these past several months.
Without the continued action and financial support of good folks like you, I can only imagine what madness President Obama and the Big Government cronies in BOTH parties may have passed.
But with National ID, Gun Control, and the National Internet Tax Mandate high on the statists' agenda, you and I have three of the most critical battles of this Congress on our plate.
And it's no accident Congress is waiting until now to begin ramping up their barrage.
Most Americans are thinking more about their kids getting out of school or summer vacations than what's going on in Congress!
So our backs are against the wall.
But I can't do so without your support.
So please sign your DEFEND LIBERTY Fax Petition.

Tell Congress you hate the national ID scheme
His administration has been caught red-handed spying on Associated Press reporters.
The IRS is just now admitting to spying on Tea Party and conservative groups -- and accused of exacting political revenge on others. Now you and I see, buried deep within the 800-plus pages of the so-called "Immigration Reform" Bill, a new biometric National ID scheme to open the door to more government intrusion the lives of every American . . .
You and I are supposed to believe neither the Obama administration nor career Washington, D.C. bureaucrats will abuse the massive new powers they crave.
But if recent history teaches us anything, it's that they will. That's why I'm counting on you to fill out your No National ID Petition IMMEDIATELY.
You see, President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have already announced "Immigration Reform" could be brought to the U.S. Senate floor in just a matter of weeks. As I've said, without border security, any deal is dead on arrival. But another -- and perhaps even more dangerous -- deal-breaker is the institution of a new National ID card.
Under the National ID scheme, the Department of Homeland Security would create a massive new photo database to include names, ages, and Social Security numbers of every single American. The database would be tied to a biometric National ID card to include information like fingerprints and facial and retinal scans.
Before hiring, employers would be required to check the names against the federal database. And if you don't get one, you'd be barred from working legally.
Just the federal government knowing every time an American citizen applies for a job is bad enough. How long before you'd be required to show your National ID card to rent a house, open a bank account or even buy groceries? How long before you'd be required to be checked against the Department of Homeland Security's National Database before you could buy a firearm?
Such a scheme is only the beginning of Washington, D.C. bureaucrats watching and cataloguing our every move. Once armed with the knowledge of what we eat, what we drink, what we read, what we look at on the Internet and what we buy, how long until federal bureaucrats start making decisions "for our own good?"
I don't want to find out. If you agree, please sign your No National ID Petition TODAY.
You see, hardly anyone in Congress is talking about the National ID portion of "immigration reform." The national media isn't touching it. So I'm going to have to work extra hard to make sure Americans know exactly what's at stake.
I'll immediately contact up to eight million Americans to alert them to the dangers of a new National ID card. Once they know the facts, I'm confident the flood of petitions I can generate will show my colleagues in Congress than a new National ID scheme is flat-out unacceptable.
But I'm counting on you to help me send that message. Please sign your No National ID Petition at once.

Sign petition to prevent gay supremacy
From Public Advocate:
Due to the action of pro-Family activists from across the nation, Public Advocate was able to deliver over 1,000,000 petitions!
It’s truly inspiring to see there are so many pro-Family Americans like you willing to stand up for traditional values.
Please take a few minutes to watch Public Advocate deliver YOUR message to Congress.
If you haven't signed your petition to protect our children, please do so right away!
Congressman Jared Polis' bill would allow the following:
*** Require schools to teach appalling homosexual acts so "homosexual students" don't feel "singled out" during already explicit sex-ed classes;
*** Spin impressionable students in a whirlwind of sexual confusion and misinformation, even peer pressure to "experiment" with the homosexual "lifestyle";
*** Exempt homosexual students from punishment for propositioning, harassing, or even sexually assaulting their classmates, as part of their specially-protected right to "freedom of self-expression";
*** Force private and even religious schools to teach a pro-homosexual curriculum and purge any reference to religion if a student claims it creates a "hostile learning environment".

*** Force private and even religious schools to teach a pro-homosexual curriculum and purge any reference to religion if a student claims it creates a "hostile learning environment".
