My response to king of the llamas

I don't see that guns protect you from government overreach.

That's because you live in a country that has implemented gun control and spews out pro-gun control propaganda.

Logically, if that was the case, every citizen on earth would be armed - and they are not.

That is because a lot of governments are tyrannical and an armed citizenry can be dangerous to a dictator's well-being.

Government rule will always be there.

Of course it will be. I'm advocating for a government of the people for the people by the people. I'm not advocating in favor of anarchy. Anarchy is stupid and doesn't work.

So, the only option you are left with to protect yourself from government overreach is to engage in politics.

Under a gun control system: As long as the government tolerates citizen involvement. The moment the government goes tyrannical and persecutes its opponents is the moment things change. To speak out against such a system while being physically within that system's jurisdiction is to put a target on your back.

Which brings us back to guns do little to protect you from government overreach while at the same time increasing your risk from crime.

As long as I maintain physical possession of the gun how will I be a crime victim? I already know I won't freeze up when it comes down to it.

You are of course correct that a criminal can choose to arm themselves with a chair leg. But guns are a bigger concern due to their lethal force.

That is if the bullets hit vital areas. If the bullets graze or miss and not strike anyone else they are not much of a threat.

Removing guns will not reduce crime.

No argument there.

but it would reduce lives lost.

All it will do is limit a would-be murderer's options.

Those lives are unlikely to be lost to other weapons. Killing someone up close with a knife is a very different person to at arm's length or more with a gun.

In countries that have implemented gun control there are series of machete murders. Unlike guns and bullets, machetes don't miss unless the person with the machete is trying to deliver a warning. Unless you are using a silencer guns make noise while machetes don't. Also, machetes leave their victims to die silently without alerting anyone to help them.

As far as the capital incident is concerned I heard that was staged. If that was the case then all bets are off.
