Tell the Senate to oppose the nomination of Thomas Perez for Labor Secretary

From The National Right To Work Committee:

Barack Obama is at it again.

While Obama's out-of-control, unconstitutional National Labor Relations Board has earned the bulk of the headlines, Obama's Labor Department has quietly done Big Labor's bidding since Day One.

And now, eager to pay back his union-boss benefactors who unleashed another billion-dollar political spending blitz in 2012, Obama has nominated another anti-worker, pro-Big Labor ideologue to be Labor Secretary.

And I need your help to kill the nomination.

You see, we're entering the most dangerous phase of the battle to stop the confirmation of Barack Obama's union-label Labor Secretary nominee, Thomas Perez.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was hoping to have rammed the nomination through the Senate before Memorial Day.

But concerned citizens raised a storm of protest, and it showed.

The 12-10 vote in the Senate Labor Committee in May was an encouraging sign that Senate Republicans are listening and a filibuster is possible.

Now the union bosses are demanding Harry Reid use any means necessary -- even ending the filibuster for nominations -- to ram pro-forced unionism Thomas Perez's nomination through the Senate.

Let me tell you more about what's at stake.

You see, under Obama's first Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis, the Department of Labor went on a rampage to keep workers in the dark about their rights and enable the forced unionization of workers across the country by:

*** Slashing the budget of the Office of Labor Management Standards, the federal agency that enforces union disclosure laws and serves as a watchdog against union-boss corruption;

*** Refusing to enforce anti-kickback provisions, allowing workers' wages to be kicked back to employers in union-sponsored job target funds.

*** While on the Montgomery County Council, Perez allegedly used his position to influence, intimidate and pressure employers on behalf of Communications Workers of America union officials.

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Even more troubling, because Barack Obama is no longer accountable to the voters, I'm afraid the worst is yet to come.

And everything we know about Thomas Perez strongly suggests he will use the power of his position to promote the agenda of Big Labor at the expense of hard-working Americans:

*** As Maryland's Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez greased the skids to more easily force unionization on childcare providers.

That scheme mirrors Big Labor's nationwide strategy to force in-home care providers -- even parents, grandparents, and babysitters who take care of sick and disabled children with state assistance -- into dues-paying ranks.

*** Perez repeatedly tapped into the Big Labor well to fill political appointments.

In fact, Perez even gave a political appointment to a former organizer from the Laborers International Union of North America, an organization the Department of Labor Inspector General's racketeering section considered corrupt.

*** While on the Montgomery County Council, Perez allegedly used his position to influence, intimidate and pressure employers on behalf of Communications Workers of America union officials.

Attempting to justify those tactics, Perez made the offensive and derogatory comment that unionized workers "would be more productive, more motivated and more loyal" than non-union workers.

The more than 93 percent of American private-sector workers free from union control don't need that kind of bias at the Department of Labor.

Not only that, our economy just can't afford it.

So before it's too late, please authorize your free action fax to your U.S. Senators insisting they oppose Perez's nomination.

Now that the nomination is out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Harry Reid could force a vote at any time.

But I'm afraid we're really stretching our budget thin to alert concerned citizens like you to Thomas Perez' record and build up grassroots opposition to his nomination.

But most importantly, your U.S. Senators must hear from you right away.

Please authorize your free action fax at once.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix

P.S. Barack Obama's Labor Secretary nominee Thomas Perez has a long track record of using his power to do Big Labor's bidding.
