A dark cloud with a silver lining or Audit The Fed ain't dead

From Campaign For Liberty:

On Friday, the majority of the Senate voted to proceed on Janet Yellen’s confirmation to become the next Federal Reserve Chair.

Harry Reid may have won round one in the battle to confirm Janet Yellen without holding a Senate vote on Audit the Fed (S. 209), but the war is far from over.

And your action is making a major difference!

In fact, while 59 Senators voted for cloture on Yellen, that is far fewer than the 77 who voted for cloture on President Obama's renomination of “Helicopter Ben” Bernanke in 2009!

The motion only passed because of Reid’s continuing refusal to respect the rules of the Senate, which require 60 votes to limit debate on nominations.

But if we can convince only 10 senators to change sides, we can block Yellen's confirmation until Harry Reid finally allows the Senate to vote on Audit the Fed.

And we have already thwarted Reid’s plans to ram Yellen’s nomination through the Senate before Christmas!

Late Thursday night, and after C4L generated huge pressure on the Senate this week, Harry Reid decided to hold off on the final vote until January 6.

This gives us almost three more weeks to mobilize Americans to take action in support of Audit the Fed.

Right now, senators are preparing to leave for the holidays. But over the Christmas break, they will be spending time on constituent meetings and public events.

This is a perfect opportunity for you to personally talk to them about Audit the Fed. You can find your senators’ town hall and public events plans on their websites, and you can call their local offices to schedule face-to-face meetings with them.

You can learn more about which senators sided with the American people – and which sided with the Banksters, big spenders, and special interests – at CampaignForLiberty.org.

If your senators opposed Yellen, please either go to an event they’re holding, call their offices, or schedule a meeting to tell them to keep it up until we get a vote on Audit the Fed!

But if they allied themselves with the Fed, take advantage of this opportunity to tell them you expect them to stand with the nearly 75% of Americans who support transparency and vote against Yellen's confirmation until Harry Reid schedules a vote on Audit the Fed!

Forcing Harry Reid to delay the final vote until January 6 was a major victory. Now we must take advantage of this opportunity by turning up the heat on the Senate even further.

That’s why it’s so important you contact your senators to reinforce the strong message we’ve sent.

I also hope you’ll take just a moment today to chip in $5 or $10 to help Campaign for Liberty apply more pressure on the Senate and pass Audit the Fed!

Thank you so much for your support. Now let’s charge onward to victory!

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

P.S. Though Janet Yellen cleared the first hurdle in her path to becoming the next Fed Chair, our efforts to block her passage until Harry Reid holds a vote on Audit the Fed have helped force Senator Reid to delay the final vote until January 6!

This gives us almost three more weeks to turn up the heat on the Senate. So please learn how your senators voted by visiting our website and then follow up with them over their Christmas break!

If your senators opposed Yellen, urge them to keep doing so until Harry Reid holds a vote on Audit the Fed.

If they voted to advance Yellen's nomination, demand they stop siding with Harry Reid, the financial elites, and the special interests and vote against Yellen’s confirmation unless and until Senator Reid finally holds a roll call vote on Audit the Fed.

I hope you’ll also chip in $5 or $10 today to help Campaign for Liberty apply more pressure on the Senate and pass Audit the Fed!
