Say no to raising the debt ceiling

From Rand2016:

When a teenager racks up an outrageous credit card bill what's the first step parents take to correct the irresponsible behavior?

They CUT UP THE CREDIT CARD!

And that's exactly what you and I need to make happen in Washington.

For too long, politicians in both parties have carried on like teenagers on a spending binge.

They've run up $17 trillion in debt leaving our nation's fiscal future spiraling out-of-control.

Their endless tax-borrow-and-spend policies have pushed our nation into a head-on collision course with a debt crisis.

As our debt piles up, the beast in Washington demands ever higher taxes to "pay" for the reckless behavior of politicians addicted to big government.

And as the debt soars and tax rates skyrocket, the American dream inches further out of reach for too many Americans as their paychecks are squeezed to the breaking point.

A vote to raise the debt ceiling could come as early as Thursday, and I'll share a link with you for how you can help fight back, but first let me take a few moments to explain why this fight is so crucial.

You see, big government politicians always claim if Congress just raises the debt ceiling this one more time, then they will buckle down and cut spending at some later date.

Just recently, Congress passed and President Obama signed the Ryan-Murray Bad Budget Deal.

This "compromise" eliminated the mandatory sequester spending cuts that were enacted as part of the Budget Control Act of 2011 which raised the debt ceiling.

And now President Obama is demanding Congress raise the debt ceiling while REFUSING to cut even one nickel of spending.

The Administration is trying to force Congress to act by claiming if the debt limit isn't raised the federal government will run out of money.

This is bunk.

And it's up to you and me to force Congress to tackle our debt crisis by enacting real spending cuts.

Despite the chicken-little claims, not raising the debt ceiling means Washington will be forced to live within its means.

Our troops in uniform will still receive their paychecks.

Social Security and Medicare won't vanish.

Not raising the debt ceiling simply will halt borrowing money from China to fund big government boondoggles such as:

*** The National Guard spending $10 million for tie-ins to last summer's Superman movie.

*** $613,000 spent by the State Department to purchase "fans" on Facebook

*** $319 million flushed down the drain on the failed Healthcare.gov website

Washington will be forced to manage its checkbook just like every other family in America…

…And they can ONLY spend what they take in.

No more borrowing money from China to hitch an anchor of debt around the neck of future generations.

No more phony promises of cutting spending at some distant point in the future.

Your action can help force Congress to buckle down and slash out-of-control spending.

In fact, the first government boondoogle that needs to go is ObamaCare.

Rather than heap trillions of new debt on the heads of our children, why doesn't Congress repeal the ObamaCare train wreck that's killing jobs and exploding the cost of health insurance?

I have a plan to fight back against the big government politicians who promise spending cuts in the future for the authority to plunge our nation trillions into debt today.

But I need your IMMEDIATE action.

I've prepared an emergency "No Debt Ceiling Increase" fax petition to my colleagues in the Senate for you to fill out.

I hope I can count on you to do so right away.

In addition to your signed petition, I hope you'll make your most generous contribution to help me rally Americans willing to cut up Washington's credit card.

I'll need to rally Americans through email and social media ads so I hope you'll make a generous contribution of $250, $100, $50 or $35 today.

If that is too much, please chip in a contribution of $10 or $20 to help me in this fight.

You see, the only chance conservatives have to slam the brakes on Washington's runaway spending is grassroots outrage.

In the past, your action has killed big government schemes when all the so-called "experts" in Washington considered them a done deal.

In fact, your grassroots campaigns to pressure Congress defeated President Obama's national gun registration scheme and his march to war in Syria.

And because your voice boomed through Washington demanding border security, the push to ram through immigration reform that failed to address our porous border has for now stalled.

Left to their own devices, too many of my colleagues would permit the big government gravy train to roll on unimpeded.

What shakes them out of their entrenched position to defend the status quo are angry voters pledging to hold them accountable.

With the midterm elections around the corner this November, I can't imagine any politician facing the voters back home and explaining why borrowing money from China to pay for the failed ObamaCare website was more important than fiscal stability.

There are red state Democrats in places like Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana and North Carolina that can read the polls.

President Obama's poll numbers are plummeting as more and more Americans throw up their hands in disgust at his print-borrow-tax-and-spend policies that are wrecking the economy.

But our only chance to force them to vote to cut up Washington's credit card is your immediate action.

Swamping the Senate in a tidal wave of grassroots outrage is our best shot to stop the bleeding on our debt crisis.

So please sign your "No Debt Ceiling Increase" emergency fax petition right away.

And after you sign your petition, please make your most generous contribution of $250, $100, $50, $35, $25, $10 - or whatever you can afford - to help mobilize millions of Americans to stand up to Washington's reckless borrowing.

This battle could be just days away so I need to know if you will stand with me to restore fiscal sanity to America.

Congress has escaped scot-free for too long while racking up $17 trillion in debt.

It's the height of Washington arrogance to force you to foot the bill by raising the debt ceiling.

So put the politicians on notice that you are pledging to hold them accountable unless they cut up Washington's credit card and buckle down to slash government spending.

That's why I'm counting on you to please sign your emergency "No Debt Ceiling Increase" fax petition right away.

After you sign your petition, please make your most generous contribution of $250, $100, $50 or $35 IMMEDIATELY.

I understand times are tough, so if that is too much, please chip in a contribution of $10 or $20 to help me in this fight.

Your generous support will help me marshal Americans FED UP with President Obama and Congress' reckless demands to shove our nation even closer to flying over a cliff by raising the debt ceiling.

I thank you for all that you do.

In Liberty,

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY)

P.S. President Obama is demanding Congress raise our Debt Ceiling and a vote could come as soon as Thursday.

Our nation is already $17 trillion in debt and rather than slash spending, President Obama is insisting the solution to our debt crisis is to borrow even more money.

I need your immediate action to help me launch an emergency grassroots mobilization program to rally Americans to cut up Washington's credit card.

So please sign your "No Debt Ceiling Increase" fax petition right away. And after you sign your petition please make your most generous contribution of $250, $100, $50, $35, $25, $10 - or whatever you can afford - today.
