Tell the House to put the NSA on a leash

From Fight For The Future:

Here’s a quick emergency action item. I’m not sure if we’ll win this, but it’s definitely worth a shot.

In short, a few heroes in Congress successfully introduced an amendment (Massie-Lofgren) to defund key parts of the NSA’s spying apparatus. But today, party leaders want to kill it.

Can you make three quick calls right now to defend our victory against the NSA?

Here are their phone numbers:

House Speaker John Boehner: (202) 225-0600 Contact

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi: (202) 225-4965 Contact

Appropriations Chair Hal Rogers: (202) 225-4601 Contact

When you call, be polite, but tell them: “I’m a constituent and I care about my privacy from government searches. Don’t block the Massie-Lofgren amendment.”

If you want to get technical (up to you!) try explaining how terrible an idea it is for the US government to be inserting backdoors and weakening encryption in American tech products. (The Massie-Lofgren amendment would cut off funding for these activities.)

Either way, please do make these three calls. It takes just a few minutes, and it’s totally worth it.

Thanks for doing this!

Sincerely,
Holmes Wilson, Evan Greer, Kevin Huang, Tiffiniy Cheng and the whole FFTF team.
