Protect your religious rights and other freedoms

From RandPAC:

Americans are “bitter.”

According to President Obama, we “cling to guns and religion.”

When President Obama made those outrageous comments to an audience in San Francisco during his 2008 campaign for president, our nation moved quickly to sweep them under the rug.

But I’m afraid, increasingly, we’re seeing an administration intent on separating us from all of our most basic freedoms.

Over the past year-and-a half, the debate over our Second Amendment rights has been raging hotter than ever. But as Americans of faith understand, our religious liberty is increasingly coming under assault as well.

As you’ll see, I’ve created a special Defend Religious Liberty Ballot.

I'll give you a link in a moment but let me first explain why this fight is so crucial.

The truth is, some of the issues we’re facing right now need to be front-and-center this election.

If not, I shudder to think about just how much more openly hostile our government could become to those who share sincere religious and moral beliefs.

The American colonies were first settled largely by men and women who wanted to escape religious persecution and be left free to practice their faiths.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was created in part to protect that liberty from government intrusion.

But today, it seems Washington, D.C. has flipped its role from protector to aggressor when you consider recent Obama administration actions like these:

*** In February of 2013, the Obama administration announced that the rights of religious conscience would not be recognized under ObamaCare, meaning that Christian companies, schools and universities could be forced to pay for virtually anything the Obama administration dreams up.

This was one of the moves by the Obama administration that helped lead to the recent Supreme Court Hobby Lobby decision;

***In February of 2012, the Obama administration announced it would no longer forgive student loans in exchange for public service if that public service was at all related to religion;

***In 2010, the Obama administration began dropping all mentions of “the Creator” when quoting our Declaration of Independence a year after announcing the White House would no longer recognize the National Day of Prayer;

***In April of 2009, in an open sign of disrespect to the Catholic Church, President Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican.

The truth is, there is an assault on traditional morality and faith going on right now in America.

It’s led by those whose idea of morality is swamping our children with mountains of debt they can never repay . . .

It’s led by those whose idea of religious liberty is forcing U.S. taxpayers to cough up hundreds of millions of dollars to fund abortion-on-demand . . .

It’s led by those whose idea of leadership is to use the IRS to illegally harass and intimidate political opponents – and then claim all records disappeared . . .

It’s led by those whose idea of the American Dream is to strip us of control of our individual lives and hand them to Washington, D.C. bureaucrats who know “what’s best.”

When President Obama bragged on his 100th day in office that he had “begun the work of remaking America,” he couldn’t have been more serious.

I’m not interested in remaking America.

I’m interested in restoring it.

And restoring and protecting Americans’ religious liberty is a key part.

If you agree, please fill out your Defend Religious Liberty Ballot right away.

The truth is, I believe my colleagues in Washington, D.C. need to know where you stand this election year.

I’m afraid there are those in our national media – and some even in my own party – who think any discussion of faith in the public square or the campaign trail is a big fat “no-no.”

If that idea is allowed to stand, how will we ever ensure our religious liberty is protected?

How can we ever fight back?

Every man and woman running for office needs to understand there are millions of Americans out there who believe our First Amendment rights to religious freedom aren’t something to just be tossed aside in favor of some Big Government apologists’ idea of utopia.

Your Defend Religious Liberty Ballot is a key part of sending that message.

To help RANDPAC generate as many as possible, won’t you please chip in a contribution of $10 or $20 right away?

Your support will help RANDPAC reach even more Americans from coast-to-coast this election year.

I can’t do it without you.

So please fill out your Defend Religious Liberty Ballot and agree to chip in a contribution of $10 or $20 at once!

In liberty,

Senator Rand Paul

P.S. As Americans of faith understand, our religious liberty is increasingly coming under assault.

I believe some of the issues we’re facing right now need to be front-and-center this election. If not, I shudder to think about just how much more openly hostile our government could become to those who share sincere religious and moral beliefs.
